I’m dying to try this citrus and coffee clash; the composition reads as very attractive. If anyone has already tried it, please share your thoughts.
It’s the only one that’s made me sick; I’ve tried hundreds and it’s the worst, literally horrible.
The only perfume that has made me gag; I’ve smelled hundreds… Horrible, I didn’t like it at all, the worst I’ve tried.
I went to try it at a perfumerie and it smells incredible. Personally, I prefer this version over any other Black Opium; this is more -me-.
I loved it… and my skin adored it…
Did someone consider that this Black Opium perfume is similar to Armani’s ‘Acqua di Gioia’? I think there must have been a serious mistake. There are no more opposite scents.
We all know the Black Opium EDP, but this one carries that essence with a softer, more floral and citrusy opening. You can really detect the bergamot and pear with a floral undertone. The dry-down is brilliant: it smells like grabbing a coffee in a square filled with flowers. That’s what makes it unique compared to standard florals. On my skin, it was a total hit. I just put some on and can’t stop smelling it. It’s addictive. What a shame they’ve stopped producing it; it’s my favourite of all the versions.
I loved this sweet scent; the coffee and citrus touch give it an unusual air… it’s not cloying, but what I didn’t like is that it didn’t last more than six hours on my skin… for its high-end price… I’m really keen to try the Black Opium.
I detect a note of peach. Sweet, classy, fruity, perfect for the cold.
Not bad, but it’s not the citrus and white flower blend it promised. Of the Black Opium range, this is the one I like the least. There’s too much pear and an ingredient I don’t agree with, I think it’s the amberwood. I’ll use it up, but I won’t buy it again. Projection and longevity are moderate. By the way, what on earth are solar notes?
I loved the scent, but nobody notices when I wear it, not even I do. What a pity, as it’s a delicate and feminine fragrance.
A strong, common scent: citrus pear and a coffee shock, like a tiramisu with pears and citrus liqueur. It’s not for everyone, but it’s a gem because rarely does anyone smell like this. It’s too feminine for me, but if I were a man, I’d wear it. The only downside is that it lasts only two hours.
The more time passes, the more I like it. I bought it blind and initially thought I’d made a mistake, but after months of use, it has completely won me over. It’s super feminine, sweet, citrusy, with coffee and flowers. It lasts quite a while and projects without being overwhelming. What a pity they’ve discontinued it.
Love at first sight. The cheerful floral and fruity opening stands out for its dark coffee side. It’s enigmatic and plays with the senses: the clarity of the flowers merges with its darkness without clashing, evolving together. It has excellent longevity on the skin. The only drawback: after about three hours, it loses its identity; it still smells good but the day-night contrast is no longer noticeable, becoming a generic blend. Compared to pure Black Opium, Floral Shock is fresher, more vital, cheerful and relaxed, yet with an intriguing dark side camouflaged among the flowers. I love it when perfumes play with my senses. It will be my next purchase.
As soon as I tried it, it was love at first sight. Its cheerful floral and fruity opening stands out thanks to the dark side the coffee brings. It’s enigmatic and plays with the senses because the contrast of the clear florals harmonises with its darkness; they don’t fight, they blend and evolve together. It has long-lasting power on the skin. Only one drawback: after about three hours, it loses its identity; it still lasts, but the day/night contrast is no longer distinguishable, becoming just a pleasant blend that loses its originality. Compared to pure Black Opium, Floral Shock has more freshness, vitality and is more jovial and carefree. Be careful, it has a dark side that, although less noticeable, adds an intriguing and enigmatic touch as it tries to camouflage among the flowers without succeeding, identifying itself to the senses instantly but in a more subtle way. I love it when perfumes play with my senses. My next purchase for sure.
The little cousin of Black Opium outperforms the original. It’s dark and sweet due to the coffee, yet with that floral and fruity touch that blends brilliantly with the darkness. It’s sexy and suitable for daily wear, though it also works for evening. Fantastic.
The dominant note when dry is the pear. It’s not green, but sweet and ripe, accompanied by a notable gardenia. Gradually the coffee emerges, though I perceive it very subtly; you almost have to imagine it. The opening is citrusy, with bergamot and lemon, but the sweet spot of the pear prevents it from being sharp. It’s very versatile, fruity-floral, suitable for winter or summer. I see it as more formal and daytime than the original, which is more nocturnal and sensual. I like both. Added note: on my skin, Floral Shock lasts much longer, around 8-10 hours with moderate sillage. The reformulated original lasts a breath. What a shame they no longer manufacture Floral Shock.
The ripe, sweet pear takes centre stage, accompanied by a potent gardenia. Coffee appears very subtly, almost imaginary. The citrus opening with bergamot and lemon isn’t brash thanks to the fruit’s sweetness. It’s versatile, fruity-floral, ideal all year round, more formal and daytime than the original Black Opium, which is more nocturnal and sensual. On my skin, Floral Shock lasts 8-10 hours with moderate sillage, whereas the reformulated original barely lasts a moment. What a shame they’ve discontinued it.
The best of the Black Opium line. I use the classic, owned Blanche and tried Intense. This is the best for me: sweet yet subtle, feminine without being cloying… and something hard to find: it improves with time. I love Floral Shock 😍
The best of the Black Opiums. I use and use the classic I had Blanche and tried the Intense. This is the best for me: sweet but subtle feminine but not cloying… and something hard to find: it improves the fragrance as hours pass. I love Floral Shock 😍.
OMG! You don’t know how much I adore it… if you find it good luck because they no longer sell it. I tried it again today after buying Dolce Peony. But after trying Black Opium for months and comparing it with Floral Shock well no they don’t resemble each other at all. The first one is sweeter with a biscuit scent sweet oriental and winter; whereas Floral Shock has a very soft peach scent with a sweet trail nothing nocturnal spring or winter obviously warm soft soft. Better than Olympia because if they resemble each other a bit and well that in other words: if you want a powerful perfume buy the classic Black Opium. And if you want one sweeter for the mornings and with a light trail then Floral Shock is fine. By the way… the name Shock means shock and I don’t feel that this has it compared to Black Opium…
I miss it!! Now that summer is approaching this fragrance is perfect for this. Nothing to do with the dark nights of its sister the sweet Black Opium; this is for the day when the temperature rises and you still want to use coffee notes which are more for cold times. I didn’t feel anything of ‘shock’; in fact I expected a stronger trail than the classic but no… A sweet peach scent without losing elegance. It happens to me that I have Olympia and sometimes this scent smells almost very similar to Floral Shock but they aren’t clones or dupes although both are for wearing by the beach near the sand. I heard somewhere they discontinued it what a shame.
I have this perfume in my collection and I have no idea how it got there. I think my mum gave it to me once and perhaps she kept it in my collection because I never bought it. I had the original Black Opium and that scent was the one in my mind every time I saw it on my shelf but I don’t know why I searched for Floral Shock reviews and thought: how do I have a perfume with all these notes if in my mind it smells like something else? And well I went to try it and I was SHOCKED as its name says. Exquisite!!! I think I’ve never in my life tried it… I don’t understand anything jasajsja I’ll take care of it like a palo santo because according to what I read it’s discontinued and I probably have 30 ml left… Thanks to whoever left it on my shelf…
My dear it smells spectacular. One of the best from YSL… very different from Black Opium with light peach notes oh my goodness. It has a resemblance to Poison but when you take your nose away the scent changes and becomes sweet like a sweet shampoo trying to resemble Black Opium but floral. Shock is slightly more mature. Yes it smells like coffee with milk and isn’t cloying. As for the trail needless to say one spray and it fills the whole room. Few perfumes I’ve matched with it. Totally winter and spring. It smells like coffee with milk and caramel. I don’t quite understand the campaign but I want everyone to know the scent has two sides… and yes it surprises. Hopefully it returns to my collection soon. I sold my soul for this baeeee 😍🖤🖤🖤. Update: I have another one I bought recently Live Irresistible and I was surprised by the slight resemblance they have…
Finally in my hands 😌💛🥺. And needless to say when it mixes with other perfumes ♡. Hopefully it returns this year. Thanks YSL for creating this work of art. Now I can finally enjoy the scent 💛.
I have it and I’ve loved it for that sweet touch. I wear it day and night it’s long-lasting and I feel great when I put it on.
Great perfume sweet with a scent of cold coffee vanilla and pears. On me it has a spectacular trail. Nothing to do with Black Opium. This one is worth it. Suitable for any weather. Truly beautiful.
The most floral and luminous of the Black Opium line without betraying its coffee and vanilla soul. It adds a touch of pear from start to finish. I’m totally hooked; it’s delicious and even better than the original. Very feminine I see it as more versatile and spring-like (though not summer despite the solar notes). On my skin it lasts about 4 hours; it projects and leaves a trail at first but by the hour it becomes very soft (a pity that all Black Opiums fall short on my skin). What a shame it’s so hard to find; by scent it’s one of the best in the family.
My winter favourite although I prefer citrus and fresh scents. It’s like a liqueur with a cappuccino wrapped in flowers super creamy and I love it. Sexy and luxurious. At the end when only the base remains the coffee subtly emerges. It lasts for many hours an achievement because my skin doesn’t retain anything. It’s like a hug that accompanies me on cold days.
