In my opinion, the moment I sprayed it, it reminded me of Beaufort’s Iron Duke, but less potent overall. Subsequent tests confirmed: less projection, shorter longevity, and significantly more expensive than the ‘Iron Duke’.
Blackout is a dark, powdery, warm, and woody fragrance. It recalls Iron Duke, yet it is less sharp, aggressive, and rough in its opening and dry-down; this one is more refined. Notes of mineral oud and perhaps geosmine lend it a smoky, earthy facet that is not suffocating. The heart phase features something creamy, akin to sandalwood with vanilla—not cloying—which adds a powdery sweetness, underscored by a red fruit. It achieves a balance and a distinct proposal, albeit with a linear evolution. It demands a semi-formal outfit onwards, ideal for cold climates and the night.
I expected it to be darker. In reality, it’s quite friendly and won’t scare anyone. I find something warm, like barrel-aged alcohol notes; it’s woody and above all sweet. It also has something balsamic, perhaps a slight incense. A curious scent, but I wouldn’t define it as dark. The opening has a faint gunpowder smell that fades quickly. Some compare it to Iron Duke, but I don’t think so; ID is more potent, wild, dark and smoky. I just realised that this sweetness reminds me of a Kemi-style oud that Maurice loves so much.
Second niche fragrance I’ve tried. What to say, I was totally surprised. It wasn’t easy to digest at first, but now I understand: it’s dark chocolate with lots of character. It has become my second favourite underground niche fragrance, haha.
I tested it on my skin for the second time. The first time I liked it but did not prioritise it because I did not feel its uniqueness… Today I understood everything. I own a Sasva Junoon (175€ for 100ml) and this is almost its clone, but it softens the animalic aspect. Link: https://www.fragrantica.es/perfume/Sasva/Junoon-76723.html If you want something darker or more ‘beastly’, try Junoon. Apart from that, it smells animalic, warm, with patchouli and a sweet touch that softens it. Very rich, not overly challenging. If you want this but with more tenacity, try the other one. I will conduct a third test with Junoon on the other hand, but my hesitation to buy it is that I already own a very similar fragrance.

RITO – BLACKOUT: An absolute gem. It’s complicated for the uninitiated nose because it breaks the mould. Dense, mysterious, luxurious and unique; it’s a black veil that becomes your second skin. Pure elegance, especially with an all-black outfit. It opens smoky with red fruits and resins, adding a touch of vinyl, dark woods and a subtle cocoa that makes it more approachable. For making an impact, standing out and breaking rules. It smells of darkness and total luxury. Nighttime wear only. Literally the scent of a vampire. The velvet of the night. Highly recommended 100%.
