I was tempted to buy it, but my bad experiences with Christian Carbonell, whatever the brand, hold me back. I’ll think about it and edit the review later.
It’s curious that people claim poor performance when, out of 400 votes, the majority approve of longevity and projection. Perhaps it’s olfactory fatigue. To me, it’s good, suits my style, and performs well.
First, I don’t understand how people rate it similarly to Micallef’s Royal Vintage, which is similar to Aventus. It seems some vote based on listed notes and draw random conclusions. For me, it’s a total disappointment: it smells like Black Afgano mixed with The One, but on my skin the projection is almost non-existent. It fades to skin-level within minutes. Totally dispensable and its price is unjustifiable.
This is my first review. Yesterday I tried this fragrance from a decant and agree it smells like Nasomatto’s Black Afgano, but the performance on my skin isn’t as they say. I woke up this morning and it still smelled after just six sprays. It needs testing on different occasions. At one point I noticed ambroxan, not sharp but bearable. It’s elegant and delivers. Rating: 8.5/10.
I agree with the previous reviewer: the performance is far too poor for what the notes promise. A let-down from the Xerjoff house. Totally unadvisable purchase.
A fragrance that initially leaves only a soft alcohol note; then a smoky touch with hints of dry gunpowder appears, closing sweetly. It reminded me a lot of Orto Parisi’s Bocanera. Both smell good, yet they share the same mediocrity: they lack power and projection. With the notes, one might imagine something like Iron Duke, but Don has the power of a hearing aid against that 10,000-watt system’s output. I’m subjective, but I feel disappointed by this expensive perfume, not for the scent, but for the performance, which is inferior to many designer brands. Scent 8/10, Trail 4/10, Longevity 4/10, Projection 3/10.
