House jewel: sweet with a spicy kick, featuring a clear sandalwood base and an amber that smells even if they don’t say so. Top-tier longevity and genuine potency; watch out for the spray count. Value for money 8.

Picked this up for ten dollars an ounce, with no fear of disappointment. It delivers, as it doesn’t smell like those typical fresh citrus, marine, or green scents; it’s a well-executed fruity aromatic. It suits up to fifty years old, for daytime wear, whether informal or semi-formal. It works in the office, but no further. It’s neither essential nor a museum piece, but if you’re looking for something for daily wear to alternate with your classics, go for it.

An Adidas fragrance that’s a bit scary. If they tell you it smells like Givenchy and you have no idea what they’re on about, you won’t suspect it’s another brand. It smells sweet but not cloying like vanilla; it’s a sweet scent that reminds you of something fresh. The opening has clear notes of orange and lavender; then the lavender gives way to black pepper, which, though present in small amounts, adds maturity, while the sandalwood shines in the dry down. The cashmere is barely noticeable. It’s fruity with a sweet touch, inoffensive, and has earned me compliments. Lasts about six hours on skin and days on clothes. Smells much better than its price tag suggests. Buy blind; I recommend it.
