Right, it’s a fragrance I like and others do too. So what’s the issue? It smells very much like the original Terre D’Hermès from 2006. Is that a bad thing? Not really, but it highlights two flaws: it offers nothing new or innovative, unlike its sibling the EDP Intense, and it’s not cheap, so it doesn’t serve as an economical alternative to Hermès. If my memory serves me correctly, the 60 ml costs around €58 and the 100 ml hovers between €85 and €90, so it’s certainly not a budget fragrance. Brioni is luxury, and their perfumes aren’t cheap. Furthermore, the nose behind it is Michel Almairac, a veteran, so I feel somewhat disappointed as it’s nothing novel. In short, it’s a good perfume that smells great and lasts about six hours, projecting well for the first two hours, so it’s not lacking in that regard. The problem is that excessive resemblance to Hermès’ jewel, which makes it feel unoriginal. Perhaps, and this is a mea culpa, I had high expectations, especially after buying the EDP Intense, which is truly a marvel in terms of novelty and deserves great praise. For use, like the Hermès, it suits all year round with formal or casual wear, but not informal. Brioni perfumes always exude class and elegance. As for age, I’d say anyone can wear it; whereas I see the Intense as suitable for people ‘mature’ from 30 upwards, this Eclat can be worn by a young person out with friends on a summer afternoon or someone older running errands or taking an evening stroll with their partner. It’s a good proposal from Brioni, but in my view, it lacks novelty.
Smells very clean. It’s a summer scent that many will enjoy, yet it’s not that typical blue fragrance. It opens with juicy grapefruit, while the ambroxan and musk base give it a more elegant touch.
