The opening is refreshing and very sporty, with ginger and grapefruit standing out. I felt the grass note softly, but didn’t identify the wheat. From the mid-notes, I noticed a salty impression like sea water, though I didn’t feel the juniper berries. The dry down is long, musky with soft cedar. It is truly sporty, ideal for sweating in, unlike others that maintain elegance. This is what it’s supposed to be. It has moderate projection like other Burberrys and longevity superior to 10 hours on the skin. If you’re not going to do sports, it’s good for summer, informal, unobtrusive, giving a clean impression, for the day and relaxed activities away from much pollution, as it has no dense notes to counteract that.
This and the Bvulgari one… are the best and most natural ginger scents I’ve smelled in a perfume… I love both. But I think this one has greater projection.
A certainly refreshing opening and effectively very sporty, with ginger and grapefruit standing out. I felt the grass notes softly and didn’t identify the wheat. From the mid-notes, I sensed a sea water impression, a salty feel. I didn’t notice the juniper berries. The dry down is long, musky with soft cedar. This fragrance is truly sporty, ideal for sweating in, unlike others that maintain elegant nuances. This is what sport is supposed to be. Moderate projection like other Burberrys I’ve tried, with longevity superior to 10 hours on the skin. If you’re not going to do sports, it’s good for summer, informal, unobtrusive, giving a clean impression, for the day and relaxed activities away from much pollution, as it has no dense notes to counteract that.
This is the second time I’ve used it and I love it. That strong touch of ginger with the grapefruit citrus makes it delicious. At first I thought it wouldn’t last, it faded quickly, but when I went out and started sweating, wow! The scent released and, despite the smoke and air, I noticed it well, I felt the aquatic notes and understood why it’s called sport. You don’t need to exercise to wear it; I tried it for a night out and another time walking down the street on a summer or autumn day. The bottle is normal and simple, but the scent is rich. It makes me feel fresh and, even when I sweat, it makes me smell clean and attractive. For me it’s an 8/10.
This is the second time I’ve worn it and I really like it. That distinct ginger scent mixed with the grapefruit citrus makes it delicious. When I applied it, I didn’t think it had good longevity as it seemed to fade quickly… but when I went outside and started sweating, wow! The scent started to release and, despite the smoke and air, I could perceive its aroma, noting the aquatic notes; that’s when I understood why it’s called sport. You don’t need to exercise to wear it. I used it for a night out and another time for a walk on a nice summer or autumn day. The bottle is normal and simple, but the scent is rich. It makes me feel fresh and, even when I sweat, it makes me smell clean and attractive. For me, an 8/10.
That’s why I thought of the YSL L’Homme/La Nuit family when I tried it, although it was just a first impression, perhaps due to how it presents itself to the nose. I agree with CokeChile: it is one of the best ginger scents you can enjoy in a fragrance. It goes straight to my priority list.
For some reason, when I tried it, I thought of the Yves Saint Laurent L’Homme/La Nuit family (it was just a first impression, perhaps due to how it presents itself to the nose, I don’t know). I agree with CokeChile: this fragrance is one of the best ginger scents you can enjoy in perfumes. It goes straight to my priority list.
What a rich aroma; this fragrance is perfect for hot days. The ginger and citrus notes are what stand out most in this EDT. It’s youthful, fun and long-lasting. With me it stays easily around 8 hours or a little more. I think longevity doesn’t depend on the fragrance but on each person’s skin; I’ve read people who say it doesn’t last more than 30 minutes for them. I think the main thing when choosing a fragrance is that you like its scent; afterwards you’ll know if it lasts long or short, if it projects or not. I was about to not buy it due to negative comments about its performance, but in the end I was encouraged by the 30ml presentation and I was super happy. Definitely it will be in my rotation for this summer. PS: a tip, don’t take into account reviews that focus on criticising the longevity-projection of any fragrance, whether good or bad. This one lasted me 8+ hours just like another less. Better focus on getting to know it… cheers.
What a fantastic scent, perfect for the heat. The ginger and citrus notes really stand out in this EDT; it’s youthful and fun. It lasts me around 8 hours or more, though I know it depends on the skin; others have said it only lasted 30 minutes. The important thing is that you like it, then you’ll see if it projects. I was about to not buy it due to negative reviews about longevity, but I was persuaded by the 30ml presentation and I was blown away. Definitely for this summer. PS: Don’t focus too much on the reviews criticising longevity, just get to know it. Cheers.
I tried it again and, with more attention, I realised that, as many comment, it has many similarities with Dior Homme Sport. That combination of citrus, herbal notes with ginger and an amber-woody base is of the same style as Dior’s. I’m not saying it’s identical, but it resembles it quite closely; perhaps Dior’s is a bit more powdery and Burberry’s more citrusy. The main difference lies in the price. I think I’ve found a less expensive alternative to Dior Homme Sport.
Burberry Sport is a fresh, citrusy and woody fragrance. It’s very pleasant upon application: ginger and some bitter citrus notes emerge, moving through a herbal phase to a woody and amber finish thanks to cedar, amber and musk. The fragrance is fresh, feeling versatile for any season and occasion, though perhaps its best moment is casual use; even though it’s a sport scent, I see it more for casual wear, perhaps for fresh evenings, not too cold. There are many fragrances of this style and it’s hard to say which is the best, for example Zegna Z, some Acqua di Gio, Ungaro for Men, etc. However, in favour of Burberry Sport, I’d say it held its own well in longevity, with a performance of over 10 hours. And the bottle design is very original: it looks as if the cap is the short plastic part, but it’s the opposite, since the cap covers the entire container.
Absolutely it is, Beto Ruiz… The similarity is great, especially with the first D H S which was more citrusy and less powdery than the 2012 one (the current one). Also, to a lesser extent, it has airs of Armani C S. Sincerely, I’ve had it for a long time and I remember its scent (in my country, Argentina), it’s discontinued. I remember its sweet citrus potential, supported by ginger and some amber that made it rounder and more elegant. I agree it’s a cheaper alternative to Dior, of good quality, and I think it’s more youthful, informal and versatile. The bottle felt uncomfortable to spray, but that’s a minor detail. Good projection and longevity. Highly recommended.
Absolutely, Beto Ruiz. The similarity is striking, especially with the original DH Sport, which was more citrusy and less powdery than the 2012 version (the current one). It also has the air of Armani Code Sport. Honestly, I’ve had it for a long time and I remember its scent (in my country, Argentina); it’s discontinued. I recall its sweet citrus potential, supported by ginger and a touch of amber that made it rounder and more elegant. I agree it’s a cheaper alternative to Dior and of good quality, plus it seems more youthful, informal and versatile. The bottle was uncomfortable to spray, but that’s a minor detail. Great projection and longevity. Highly recommended.
If it had better performance (sillage and longevity), it would be one of my favourites. The scent is very natural, exquisite, fresh yet comforting, making me feel cosy and cheerful. But the enjoyment is only skin-deep. Perhaps that was Burberry’s intention: to create a fragrance for wearing with a partner or at home, smelling so softly it won’t bother even the cat.
Burberry’s weak point is the performance: quite mediocre, it lasts nothing even with over-application. I wouldn’t recommend it even on sale; truly, you’d be wasting your money. The black sheep of the house.
SCENT: EXCELLENT. PROJECTION: POOR. LONGEVITY: POOR. QUALITY: EXCELLENT. BLIND BUY: YES, BUT… 7/10. It smells delicious, but its performance is another story entirely. If you buy it, it’s a compliment machine provided you apply plenty of sprays and accept that it won’t last long. Still, it’s worth a try.
I adore its top notes. It’s a very pleasant and distinctive fragrance, perhaps thanks to the ginger. I think the longevity could be better, but it’s still among my preferred scents.
I bought it to try out the notes. For the first week, I barely noticed it; it was very subtle, so I put it aside. Then I started wearing it to the gym, and yes, the ginger and citrus really stand out. It’s wonderful, one of my favourites for any occasion. The only catch is that it’s no longer sold here, probably discontinued, but I cherish it dearly.
Warm and spicy, yet it’s the freshest thing out there: it smells like citrus mixed with a beach cocktail. Very similar to Dior Homme Sport. One of my favourite fragrances.
Undoubtedly, one of the most potent ginger scents available on the design market.
