About Cathedral Air
Cathedral Air: Incense Held in Cold Air
From House of 1123, Cathedral Air arrived in 2026 as a woody oriental for both women and men. The nose behind it is Kenny A. Nolasco.
It takes its cue from a cathedral interior — lofty, hushed and cool to the touch. The result is incense rendered with transparency, framed by wood and stone-like minerality.
Juniper berry, elemi, aldehydes and black pepper open the composition. The start is crisp, peppered and aromatic, with a light resinous brightness that feels ventilated.
At its centre, frankincense olibanum, myrrh and incense are joined by mineral notes. The balsamic character is kept poised and pale, as if tempered by cold masonry.
Cedarwood and vetiver form the foundation, softened by white musk, ambroxan and amber. The woods stay arid and earthy, easing towards a muted, musky amber warmth.
Ambery, aromatic, woody, fresh-spiced and warm-spiced tones sit alongside musky, balsamic, mineral and aldehydic nuances. The mineral thread lends poise against the resins’ glow.
Rather than opulent, this is a spare, reflective woody oriental. It leaves a neat trail of clear incense, dry timber and pale amber, suited to measured wear.
It should appeal to those who favour unsweetened incense and myrrh, and to devotees of dry, stony woods with a minimalist outlook. A unisex choice for calm, considered occasions.
Cathedral Air achieves quiet grandeur. Nolasco steadies resin, timber and mineral air into a contemporary woody oriental of rare composure.
