Descripción

CK One Shock For Him by Calvin Klein is a spicy oriental fragrance for men. Launched in 2011, this composition was created by Ann Gottlieb and IFF. The top notes reveal lavender, clementine and cucumber; the heart unfolds cardamom, pepper, basil and osmanthus; while the base settles on tobacco, amber, patchouli, woody notes and musk.

  • It’s like mixing a normal whisky with Monster Negra: you add creaminess to the accumulated sweetness and at the end, the alcohol stands out a bit. You have CK One Shock men.

  • victor_hugo_boss

At first, it doesn’t grab me at all, but on the skin it turns into a moderate sweetness that isn’t overwhelming or attracting bees. Although some call it unisex, I believe it smells like a woman. It’s a good fragrance and good value because it’s already discontinued.

  • Johan parfum intense

I have it and it smells good, like a cigar with vanilla or something very sweet.

  • Karlwarthon

I like how it smells; the lavender is what stands out the most. It has good pull with girls.

This CK has a more masculine imprint than any other in the CK One and Be line, but it reminds me hugely of Carolina Herrera CH Prive 2015, and it’s rare that no one has listed it as a similar scent.

  • What a beauty! What moments I lived at university with this perfume; it was the favourite of a couple of ex-partners. It’s a good option to start a collection. Sweet, coquettish, youthful and sexy. 8-10. It behaves better in enclosed spaces.

I bought it blindly after reading it has a dominant but wearable tobacco note. Since tobacco is one of my favourite notes, I took the risk. At 42, I knew it could come across as very youthful, but as it’s cheap, I went for it. The 100ml was €19 and the 200ml €25, so I opted for the larger bottle: what’s an extra €6? I read reviews from older people using it without issues. Worst case, I use it as a room freshener. First, it’s not discontinued; I have a June 2023 batch. Second, for the first 2-3 minutes, it smells very similar to Halloween Man X, then it takes its own path. The opening is synthetic and alcoholic but passes quickly. The citrus with tobacco reminds me very faintly of D&G Pour Homme Intense. I expected more from the tobacco, but it’s sweet, citrusy and spicy. Once settled, with the spices (cardamom and pepper), it smells fantastic. It’s eminently youthful, but the spices make it usable for older people on informal occasions. For a 20-25 year old, it works all the time; for someone older, only for relaxed moments, nothing for the office or special events. I enjoy it at home or when I don’t need to project seriousness (I’m a lawyer). If I were 18-25, it would be my all-rounder perfume for winter and cold autumn and spring days, never in summer. Great fragrance at an excellent price.

  • It’s youthful, easy to wear and use. I was gifted it over a year ago and it didn’t quite convince me at first, but I decided to give it another chance with time and I’ve enjoyed it much more. The longevity is good and when it dries down, it leaves something warm and quite spicy. If applied generously, it becomes more noticeable.

  • Not for the young; it smells like someone over 30. If it’s dark, it’s not intense. Smells like freshly cut wood, ground pink pepper, and a hint of clean sweat, as if you’ve just stepped out of the shower on a 40-degree day. If you’re looking for something subtle, better try Wanted by Night by Azzaro or a Bulgari Wood. I wouldn’t buy this CK: the trail is low and it doesn’t last at all.

  • CK Shock is one of the best tobacco fragrances on the market, especially in terms of value for money. Beyond its appealing scent, this perfume has a very high sentimental value for me, which makes it something special in my collection. It never fails to attract compliments and, in my personal opinion (perhaps a bit biased), I consider it to be the best fragrance within the Calvin Klein line.

  • In its opening it does not seem very good to me, but once you let it dry down, that cardamom and tobacco do smell very good!

Well, this is the first review I have felt like writing; I have been in this fragrance world for a year now, and the truth is I felt like writing a review for this fragrance that has accompanied me since I was small. It came to me as a gift during the Christmas season, back in 2010/11, when it was launched. To the bottle’s misfortune, I did not use perfumes before, and when I felt like dressing up, I only used deodorants, so for years I only used the perfumes I had on special occasions (weddings, baptisms, first communions, some Christmases…). To this day, I still have that 2010 batch (to be exact, 05/2010) which will be at 80-90%, and it is so nostalgic that I ended up buying another one I saw on offer (batch 12/2023), in case I finish using it and it is no longer produced. As a point of comparison, I must say that fortunately the fragrance has hardly changed; obviously the 2010 one has oxidised a bit and there are certain notes that either I do not remember or have changed due to the obvious passage of time. And after this chapter, which I will not repeat in any other perfume, I proceed to give a few strokes about it (so, I am already writing the review). Scent: The truth is I am such a novice that there are notes I do not detect or differentiate, so I will simplify this part as much as possible until I feel ready. It has a rich opening in which what stands out most is the lavender; shortly afterwards it evolves and I notice it becoming more amber, then it remains fairly linear throughout its lifespan until ending with a sweet tobacco, to put it in some way. Longevity: On my skin, 1-2 hours of projection, it recedes little by little until 7-8 hours when it starts to stay close to the skin. On clothes it lasts days, even leaving the clothes to air out. Projection and trail: It is not a very beastly fragrance, but with a few sprays it has a good projection of 1/1.5 metres and an acceptable trail. Its strong point is the personal bubble. Age: I think it is completely valid for everyone. Season: Winter, spring and autumn, always fresh or cold days, of course. Time of day: Evening-night. Occasions: I think it is very easy to wear; I consider that where it can perform best is for moderately formal events, dates, meeting with friends, etc. Value for money note: 8.5/10. Conclusion: It is a fragrance that will not blow your mind but you know it will be liked and easy to wear, ideal for cold seasons and quite versatile; recommended to buy blind unless you do not like smelling youthful.

  • Personally, I think it is a rather rich, youthful perfume at a very good price; in Chile it can be found for less than 30,000 Chilean pesos or about 30 dollars. I feel it is seductive and that it is quite noticeable at night.

  • This fragrance smells too much like me; I detect lavender, flowers, and talcum powder. I do not like it, although I have tried to wear it. It is intense and powerful, it can be annoying, so I would not use it for work. After many attempts, I left it to iron bed linen, because it is really difficult to wear.

  • I am surprised by the number of comments and by knowing it is one of the favourites of that famous influencer, Jeremy Fragrance, the bloke who spends thousands of dollars or euros on perfumes and visits Arab countries where they are made.

  • I have just bought it: at first, it is a bit aggressive and dark, with woody tobacco, then it becomes sweet, like banana. It reminds me of an Arabic perfume I have used.

  • What are they talking about when they say it smells too strong? They’re 13-year-olds. The so-called ‘intensity’ lasts ten seconds, and then the perfume is gone, haha.

  • EnriqueSeguraJ

The tobacco is quite intense but not bitter (slightly sweet); it’s okay but not crazy as the video reviews claim. For the price, it’s a good option. However, I wouldn’t buy it; that doesn’t mean it’s an option to consider due to its price. Update: I tried Man in Black and it didn’t seem spectacular to me; I prefer CK One Shock which is sweeter. Everyone has different tastes; the Bvlgari one doesn’t seem incredible to me, I tried it four times and see I prefer CK One Shock.

  • CesarMendezg

DO NOT BUY THIS BLINDLY. It smells strong, with a lot of personality and is strident; the name ‘Shock’ does it justice. Despite my liking for powerful and dark perfumes, I have not liked this one at all. The tobacco note does not sound elegant or mysterious, but rather foul, like a poorly stored cigarette that has gone rancid. It clings like any bad smell and interferes with the other essences. Mixed with pepper, sweetness, and something else I cannot identify, it creates a pricking, powerful, and very unpleasant accord. I imagine this for teenagers or university students with neutral skin, a bad boy spirit, and undeveloped taste, who dare to attract the attention of classmates with something strong, even if it is annoying. I cannot imagine a normal person using it. In that sense, this One Shock is like the younger brother of dark fragrances such as Sauvage Elixir, Boss Bottled Absolu, Aventus Absolu, or Givenchy Extreme; it is the teenage version.

  • LuisMccormick

I understand some may say it’s intense; for some palates it may be cloying, but it feels sweeter as it dries down. What I don’t like is the lavender scent; it easily associates with older people. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it for young people as a blind buy, even though the bottle looks youthful. I would recommend it to people over 40. Pros: excellent price and longevity, and the aroma improves as the day goes on.

  • I bought it based on the notes and reviews from several niche YouTubers. It’s a perfume that invites you closer, and many will remember it as coffee. It has a discrete but pleasant trail; it doesn’t overwhelm noses not used to these aromas. In my experience, it can be worn on rainy days (provided it’s not hot and humid), but I recommend it for casual occasions, small gatherings, or parties, and especially romantic outings; there it feels it has great potential. Overall, it’s very good. If you have the chance to get the 200ml version on offer, it’s a great option for autumn and winter.

  • DavidLópez

CK One Shock For Him is a valid option for those seeking a fresh aroma with a spicy and youthful touch, without complications. It’s not an olfactory jewel, but it performs well for daily or casual use. I recommend buying the 200ml size.

  • ChoParfum

I liked it very much, although I expected more. The tobacco is very rich in the first hour. Longevity and trail are good. I bought the 200ml version and would buy it again. 8/10.

  • FherZamudio

It has absolutely nothing to do with the classic CK One. It goes for a completely different route. It’s a warm, spiced aroma with a sweet dry-down. I don’t feel it’s as youthful, urban, or typical of the CK One line, its flankers or special editions. The opening is potent. I agree with those who say it smells strong. Perhaps it won’t suit everyone; it’s not a common aroma, and I’ve never heard anyone wear something like this. I wouldn’t recommend buying it blind. As a lifelong fan of the classic CK One, I found it a bit ‘shocking’ at first. The longevity is very good compared to its price.

  • Cazaputas42

Excellent! A perfume for going out. I recommend letting it oxidise a bit so it lasts longer; I left it in the dark for 4-5 months and it lasted a solid six hours. If you catch it on offer, give it a chance.

  • Edgarprfms

A very different option from the original CK One. This is for cool days or nights, unlike the original which suits heat. It has a rich tobacco and pepper aroma that gives it a ‘spicy’ touch. I highly recommend it for fresh days or nights, never for hot weather. Good scent, good price, moderate trail.

  • I own the legendary 1998 Gucci Envy and tried the CK One Shock by Calvin Klein; a friend lent me hers and I realised they smell almost identical. Looking at the notes, Shock has nearly everything Envy carries. What a pleasant surprise.

  • Ballbreaker

Either I was cheated or I’m wrong about my nose, but it doesn’t last at all and the scent is practically non-existent. I don’t know if it needs macerating or if it really is like this. Luckily I bought it in a clearance sale. Anyway, I’m going to sell it. What a pity.

  • The best and most unique in the entire CK line. Smells fantastic in the evening. It’s the longest-lasting and leaves a trail; it lasted about six hours on clothes and another two on skin. It reminds me a bit of Afghani’s 9pm, but it’s a blend between that vanilla and the sweet tobacco of this one. In short, the most worthwhile in the One line alongside Reflections.

  • The tobacco note reminds me of Dolce Gabbana Light Blue for Men EDT, but it also leans towards Burberry London. CK One Shock is somewhere in between these two. It’s very warm and for use in autumn and winter. It’s a good dupe at very good value for money. Well worth having.

  • Wlad Molina

Sweet and dark. From the first application it’s an interesting contradiction: part of the CK One line with its fresh unisex feel, but here it goes for the oriental, spiced, and nocturnal. Lavender opens with a clean, herbal air, but quickly the cardamom and black pepper give it that dark, masculine twist. The heart is where the serious game begins: tobacco appears with force, softened by sweet and creamy notes without losing presence. There’s patchouli, amber, and a cashmeran base that adds texture and warmth. In the end, it leaves a sweet, creamy, earthy tobacco with a slightly woody finish. I don’t feel it’s youthful in the current context; it has a more adult and alternative air. I can imagine a biker entering a bar: leather, smoke, intense gaze. It’s not versatile or for every day, but it has character. I recommend testing on skin for at least half a day to see its evolution. If you like spiced, dark, and rebellious scents, it could be a good find. I give it an 8/10. It’s not for everyone, but for its audience it delivers with style.

  • It’s ideal for trying tobacco because it’s soft and very well accompanied by sweet accords that make it wearable. Although it tends to be for nightwear, it can be used during the day in cold weather. After oxidising for a few months, it lasts 5-6 hours on skin with a projection of almost 2 hours, then becomes more personal. It’s easy to wear, casual, and rich. It can be bought blind. If you can get the 200ml bottle, don’t think twice; you can overapply it during the day without any issues.

  • A very good aroma, truly. Slightly tobaccoed, aromatic, and talcum-powdered. Only the opening is fresh and strong, but it drops off in minutes. It’s supposed to be a spiced oriental, but if you buy it with Arabic perfumes, the shock is very subtle. Moderate trail and low projection, more personal. I don’t know if the brand ‘oxygenates’ and improves performance. For daily wear in any weather I’d say no, nor for the gym; it’s semi-formal wear, short outings, or work. Clearly you need to reapply every 3 or 4 hours. If bought cheap it’s very worth it ($20 or less for 100ml). Update: after months of use, performance improved. Projects for an hour and persists for 6 hours or more, even 8 on clothes. You can apply generously to make it last longer and not be overpowering. Very rich.

  • It’s rare, it doesn’t convince me. On my skin it smells like cucumber with tobacco, it’s not a very good match with my skin.

  • Now that I’ve seen the listed notes, yes, there’s cucumber in the opening and it adds freshness, truth be told. It’s a good perfume but not a must-have. It’s suitable for starting out with tobacco, which isn’t very pleasant at first. The musk and amber sweeten it up. Regular performance. Works well in the office on cold days or outings with friends, but not for dates or special occasions.

  • A very youthful fragrance for going out partying, coquettish, playful, and with a touch of innocence. Recommended by price for guys aged 26 and up.

  • It costs €18.95 for 100ml and has been on the market for 14 years, so it’s been reformulated to the point of no return. A key point: it’s unique among designer EDTs, which usually have terrible performance compared to their more expensive EDP versions. Here, the cucumber and tobacco are most noticeable, with a cardamom that seems to lead. It smells like a young person, sweet, like that ‘I don’t want to smell like everyone else but also not like my mates’. I repeat, it’s a cologne; noticing evolution in an EDT is almost impossible, it smells the same as it did at school. Performance on hydrated skin: 4-5 hours, with good initial projection. The trail is good, just be careful not to overapply if you’re going to enclosed spaces. Compared to Zara, it’s a great success; their €20 EDPs usually smell like mosquito repellent and last less. It’s superb, original, and accessible to anyone. It’s like Inditex’s ‘Ebony Wood’: cheap and solid, usable as a signature scent. PS: Testers aren’t usually available, so buying blind depends on each person. It’s a rare but affordable scent, ideal for gifting to a young person.

  • I picked this up in 2024 and didn’t give it its well-deserved chance until this winter. I wear it to uni, and for $30, it’s an absolute beast in terms of value for money in my collection. It lasts 8 hours or more on skin and even days on clothes, although the projection leaves a little to be desired. The scent is very different from its price range: a sparkling, youthful tobacco, very pleasant for cold weather or autumn. I was surprised to find osmanthus in it, which I believe is responsible for that sweetness I can’t quite pinpoint. In short, it’s warm, wearable, affordable, and youthful. Its only flaw is limited projection; it’s not a compliment machine or particularly standout, but overall I recommend it and would buy it again.
