Although I haven’t tried it on skin (it’s one of my perfumery to-dos, though not urgent), what I perceived in the air when the shop assistant sprayed it pleased me. However, I opted to try another citrus from the same brand on my skin, as this one seemed very sweet to me.

I love it. A vibrant, relaxing and unisex fragrance. It begins with high-quality semi-sweet citrus, typical of Atelier Cologne. The citrus is followed by a denser heart where basil and star anise stand out, with more body and character. The citrus maintains a just-right sweetness, neither too feminine nor masculine. In the base, I detect cypress and vetiver, giving it a slightly androgynous-herbal twist. Clementine California is magical; it develops differently on a woman’s skin than on a man’s, yet both evoke similar sensations. Moderate performance, though on some skins it’s moderate-to-high. For me, it’s a 9/10. P.S.: I don’t know who thought it was similar to Un Jardin Sur le Nil, but they have nothing to do with each other.

A perfume marvel. I smell it and like it too much. It’s cheerful, refreshing, delicate, unisex, and the quality is evident. It will certainly make the cut for my favourites.

I loved it the moment I smelled it. It’s a juicy, sweet mandarin—very sweet but not cloying (I’m not a fan of sweetness) and nothing chemical. There’s a lot of quality here, with no plastic nuances. At first sniff, due to the sweetness, I thought there were flowers; a soft, delicate, citrusy and floral texture. Upon closer analysis, it’s a fruity sweetness, fresh, cheerful and happy, especially at the start. In the heart it becomes slightly herbal and spiced, yet retains that delicate, juicy sweetness; it’s so well-designed you don’t even want to deconstruct it. If the notes on Fragrantica are present, they’re so well-blended and harmonious that decoding them is difficult. Vaguely, as it develops, I detect sandalwood, adding warmth and base. This sunny, carefree day makes me fall in love; the sun embracing you and the person you love smiling. Disagreeing with a few points: the label or liquid should have been orange. Projection is barely moderate. The price in Mexico hovers around 3,000 pesos (160-180 USD) for 100ml.

  • Seeing such positive reviews makes me doubt my own judgement, but I’ll share my honest opinion. Upon first spraying, it seemed like it would be my perfume for life: equally citrusy and sweet, without excess. It reminds me of ‘old money’ and a summer in the Adriatic. But that initial excitement vanishes in five minutes. On my skin, the citrus almost disappears, only noticeable when sniffing directly, while the sweetness fades leaving a soapy trail, like a luxurious version of a childhood perfume from Las Supernenas. Although the quality is evident, I expected more longevity for the price, which is moderate on me. The dry down is nothing special; cheaper fragrances do it better. In summary: it smells good, but I wouldn’t spend the money on it or buy anything over 30ml as I’d get bored quickly.

  • No much more to add, as others have commented: it’s linear and evolves very little. What you get is a realistic blend of clementine and mandarin with a subtle touch of juniper berries. I expected jasmine or neroli due to that white florality which gives it a versatile, summery vibe. Basil and vetiver accent the opening; once the basil fades, it leaves something soapy and clean. My inexperienced nose can’t detect any further notes. It’s a wonderful intimate fragrance, typical of Atelier Cologne, at a moderate price, though some doubt its value for money due to its low projection (it lingers on the skin for about 6 hours).
