Definitely better than its sibling Mirra. It opens strongly with bergamot and petitgrain, followed by a sweet honey, before the star emerges: ebony, paired with a earthy, smoky vetiver. It smells like a joiner fresh out of the workshop, handling timber. It oozes quality and style. It’s fresh and light, just like its siblings. The longevity is poor to average, lasting around 4-5 hours. If you enjoy compliments, you’ll get two within an hour. Would I buy it? No, just like with Mirra. For a small difference, no. It’s almost identical to La Nuit D’Issey EDT: very rich and quality, but it costs four or five times more, lasts less, and smells nearly the same. I’ll stick with the Japanese one.
A pleasant fragrance with an elegant, sweet balsamic character, mature and unique. I discovered it through a gift that included a 5 ml mini. Acqua di Parma’s presentation is in a league of its own: luxurious cases and sober bottles that demonstrate that well-executed simplicity is highly expressive. The opening is dense due to the ebony and resins, contrasted by the bitterness of bergamot and tied together by honey as a binder. It’s a refined combination. The downside is that it lasts very little, barely an hour. It’s a pity that such a fragrance has such poor performance; luxury perfumery sometimes overreaches. Also, it reminds me of Nuit D’Issey, but it wins on quality and is cheaper.
It has a top aromatic blast with vetiver, ebony, and citrus on the skin. It’s bright, fresh, and characterful. As it dries down, the resins emerge; I don’t detect the honey, but it does become warmer. It shares the same DNA as ADP’s Sandalwood, but it’s less soapy and denser. I was surprised by the longevity: it holds up well after four hours, then becomes a very pleasant personal bubble. A total pleasure to wear. Scent 8/10, Longevity 7/10, Sillage 7/10, Projection 6.5/10.

Of the entire EDCC line, Colonia Ebano is the one that suits me least. I’m not sure if it’s my skin or the product, but it smells of old, aged wood with an uncomfortable, spicy sweetness. At first, it’s not unpleasant and promises to be resinous and woody, but the honey adds an animalistic touch and the spice smells of cumin, not chilli. The result is simply a scent I don’t like. It feels dense and heavy, suited for cold weather, but I can’t see a clear occasion to wear it. Rating: 5/10.

It was my second purchase from Acqua di Parma, a blind bet that paid off. It’s a serious, modest fragrance with no pretensions, but it improves with time. Ideal for cold afternoons at dusk. Although I tested it in intense heat and even received several compliments, it lasted a decent eight hours. Note: I recommend trying it before spending the money.
