Cristalle was the first launch from Chanel after Coco’s death. Eau Verte is a reinterpretation made years later. I was surprised when I tried it and it has become one of my favourites. Being Chanel, you expect something strong and opulent, but Eau Verte is herbal and citrusy, fresh, very pleasant, and easy to wear, nothing intrusive, suitable for all ages. I like herbals and citrus notes, but they are often categorised as unisex; however, this one, with its floral base notes, remains very feminine despite its herbal freshness. I have been praised greatly for the scent when I have worn it. Highly recommended.
It is probably the most exquisite and sophisticated feminine citrus fragrance I have ever tried. I recommend it highly (to women who like citrus).
I bought it almost two years ago and finished it in a year and a half. It was very fresh, I loved it. Sometimes, when I put it on, the top notes seemed too strong, like No. 5, more for an older lady (my opinion). Other times, I adored it because it smelled super clean. For me, the best of Chanel will always be Coco Mademoiselle, undoubtedly.
I have a sample, haven’t used it yet, but what I tested on my arm smells delicious. I already own Cristalle Eau de Toilette; this second one is earthier and richer, but I prefer Eau Verte. Anyway, I think both are excellent in their own style: one more earthy and herbal, the other herbal, floral, and citrusy (Eau Verte).
Starts with super fresh, green, and natural lime and bergamot, as if you’ve just squeezed them. The heart features aquatic jasmine and sweet magnolia, while the base smells of soap and musk, reminiscent of Cristalle by Chanel but lighter, with an iris-moss note adding an earthy touch. It’s a clean, discreet green citrus-floral scent: energising at first, then relaxing at the end. Perfect for spring and summer, whether you’re heading to work in jeans or a formal event in a linen suit; it’s elegant and natural, nothing artificial. As for the floral notes, I’d say it’s more feminine than unisex. Longevity is moderate, around five hours on the skin. To me, it feels like they’ve lightened Cristalle, yet there’s something more: two sides of the same coin. Cristalle is melancholic, dark, and deep, ideal for spring; Eau verte is cheerful, luminous, and youthful, made for summer. Both share that crystal-clear freshness but evoke different feelings. I was looking for something fresh, citrusy, and herbal that retains femininity and elegance without being so dark, and I’ve found it. It cost me, but now I’m happy. In the end, you just have to try until you find yours.
It begins with an effervescent explosion of limes and delicious bergamots: green, radiant, crisp, with peel, pulp, and stems, very natural. In the heart, there is aquatic green jasmine and a sweet magnolia. The soapy, musky base betrays the DNA of Cristalle and Chanel, with slight aldehydes and touches of iris-oakmoss giving an earthy nuance. It is an intense, clean, soft, and discreet green citrus-floral scent. Curiously, the opening gives me energy and vigour, while the base relaxes me. Perfect for spring and summer, for work or formal events. It pairs well with a cotton shirt and jeans or a linen suit; it is elegant and natural, nothing artificial. Regarding the florals, it seems more feminine than unisex. The longevity is moderate for a citrus, around five hours. They say they have lightened Cristalle, and it is true, but there is more. They are two sides of a coin: Cristalle is spring, melancholy, forest, moss, dampness, and depth; Eau Verte is summer, joy, light, youth, and softness. Both have that crystal freshness but evoke different sensations. I was looking for something fresh, citrusy, herbal, and floral, feminine and elegant, less dark. I found it in Eau Verte. It took some time, but now I am happy. In the end, one just has to try until finding your own.
Fresh and feminine, ideal for the heat. Its trail is moderate but the longevity is incredible. A truly exquisite fragrance.
Cristalle Eau Verte is a fresh gem from Chanel: natural Amalfi lemon, effervescent and icy. The sun-drenched neroli warms the blend, yet the citrus remains supreme. Ideal for the naturally elegant who don’t compromise on sobriety; it complements the surroundings without shouting, perfect for daily life or a day in the country. It steers clear of grey concrete and artificiality. Its purity, even in the white cap, and that spongy freshness give it a feminine, refined, and poetic touch. Magnolia and jasmine appear discreetly yet are present, for women who make no noise but mark beauty with a flower in their hair or a wild bouquet. It brightens the day with its potent opening, its magical citrus heart, and soft floral dry-downs. Highly recommended to escape, even if just for a while, the intensity of perfumery. I see it on cheerful, simple souls.
On the most cultured afternoon of summer, this perfume gives me a chill. I love it.
It’s one of the freshest and most characterful perfumes I’ve tried. It happens with the magnolia flower: at times it can give me a headache from pure citrus, but it’s momentary. Delicious.
I definitely don’t like this fragrance. The citrus notes seem a bit sharp, like cleaning products. I tried to sell the bottle when it was half-empty but couldn’t, but fortunately I finished it today. I wouldn’t buy it again. I feel that for this type of fragrance, there are cheaper and more interesting options.

Elegance in a bottle of concentrated cologne. An open, luminous, natural and transparent elegance. It’s a clear example of a citrus cologne without being the classic juicy or acidic lemon smell. It’s a puzzle of ingredients where the citrus and green notes are easily identifiable, but there are nuances that give it personality and make it broad and elegant. It’s a fresh cologne sublimated by flowers: jasmine, iris, magnolia… Although I find all of them difficult to recognise individually. The flowers create veils that add to the bergamot, creating a new aroma with a bright packaging. Personally, I think the look and name match perfectly, as it is subtle green, clear and transparent like fine crystal. It’s a well-constructed citrus-green-floral-fresh scent that works in any season, being refreshing in summer. It accompanies me through springs, summers and even autumns. Generous trail and durability; I haven’t found another that compares to it as an elegant, green and fresh perfume with so much class and style.

I was looking for the ‘Cristalle’ EDT to see how unisex it was, but there was no way. They only had the EDP or the Verte. In the end, I decided on the Verte. As a man, I would have had doubts, not because it’s a definite no, but because there are sweeter and more floral options with the ‘For Men’ label. In reality, I think someone with a formal job and a white shirt would look great in it. On a woman, it’s spectacular. But the important thing: I had it in a small sample and it was an explosion of fresh, ethereal and very elegant jasmine. It’s a classy perfume that says ‘I’m here’ yet is shy and doesn’t overwhelm.

I love the opening: fresh, elegant, clean and green. It reminds me of wet grass in summer. But… in the heart notes, when it settles, something happens with Chanel perfumes and my pH doesn’t agree with it; that greenness turns sour and quite masculine. All in all, I’d buy bottle after bottle if I could keep the opening scent, but unfortunately it just doesn’t work for me.
My favourite version of Cristalle because this is the floral one. Everything is fresh: citrus at the opening, white flowers and white musk. Very luminous, clean, poetic, sophisticated and luxurious without shouting; it’s intimate. Perfect for spring, more so than summer. It doesn’t last as long, true, is it really a concentrated EDT? Perhaps it used to be. Guerlain no longer produces it, but I still have sealed bottles in case anyone is interested.
A gift from Chanel to humanity. Beautiful, potentially unisex and the brand’s summer scent without losing the sophistication and elegance that I no longer see in their commercial launches (the private line is another matter). It could rescue Allure Homme Sport. At first spray, it’s a bit sharp, but that doesn’t make it bad; it’s a delicious citrus blend. The magic lies in the dry-down, where the sophistication shines through – something few niche brands achieve, apart from Roja Dove. It lasted eight hours on my skin and is still detectable: pure magic, the Chanel DNA. It doesn’t need to shout to tell you that you’re in a different league, that you’re an adult and sophisticated. Thank you, Chanel.
To me, this is a therapeutic fragrance. While there are perfumes so sweet and intense they give me a headache (look at you, Scandal), others like Cristalle Eau Verte calm me down and bring well-being. I use it to prevent dizziness on journeys and to help me sleep. Its obvious, simple citrus note doesn’t make it the epitome of elegance; rather, it’s a tonic for hot days or elegant sport, or to wake up in the morning. It’s pricey for its performance, but there are always more insipid fragrances with even more outrageous prices.
I’ve been hunting for Miyake’s ‘A Scent’ without success until I found this gem that I’m falling in love with more every day: fresh, sophisticated, natural and unpretentious – exactly what I’m looking for right now. It’s calm, green and discreet, yet it stays with me all day long. One detail: I had to apply 14 sprays for it to work its magic, but I’ve stopped expecting longevity from citrus scents. I’d give it 9 points and would buy it again. Other scents in a similar vein: Scale a Portofino Green Tea, Guerlain’s Fresh Herb, Miyake’s A Scent and DKNY (this one fades a bit, but it suits me).
