Julian Bedel describes this fragrance as translucent quartz and Patagonian rose, followed by a crystal amber fermented with local resin, all purified with Andean water. Fueguia 1833 nails its amber and musky base, in the style of Guerlain’s ‘Guerlinade’, but adds araucaria, the sacred Mapuche tree that no one else uses. This gives it a mystical and original touch, honouring indigenous peoples and their connection to the divine. This ancestral tree, which lives up to 1,800 years and is known as pehuenche, is the heart of Bedel’s quest. I will try it before the 400 bottles of the first edition run out.
