An insubstantial and frivolous Lutens perfume that could be any Paris Hilton scent; I have perceived no soul in it nor the capacity to convey any sensation. It has ingredients that initially fascinate me, as floral and suede blends are easy to captivate, but this one does not. It has an explosive iris opening that may bother many before giving way to the combination of suede with an apricot scent that grows in intensity until it covers everything else in an odious manner. After an hour, it is a rather boring fruity perfume without any magic in the blend. It does not smell bad and has the capacity to captivate many if you like pasty, sweet fruity aromas, but it lacks elegance and imagination. It is said to have a soft sillage, though I would rate it as moderate, and the longevity is not very high; by all accounts, fragrances with such initial intensity spikes tend to lose steam at the end, leaving very little after six hours.
A great option with leather for those who do not like dry, coarse leather. Furthermore, here it is executed with pleasant simplicity, without the syrupy base found in so many Lutens fragrances.
Daim Blond opens with a lovely blast of suede blended with osmanthus, giving it a fruity touch reminiscent of apricot and a hint of cardamom. In the heart, the suede recedes to make way for the fruit, featuring that characteristic Lutens syrupiness, more like an apricot jam. Musky and powdery nuances from iris and heliotrope are also noticeable. Finally, it leaves a trail of fruity musk while the suede makes its last, very subtle, appearances. The performance is not great; it falls short, lasting hours on the skin but soon fading to skin scent. If you want to enjoy it properly, you need to apply it generously. In my opinion, it is totally unisex, though it might suit women better than men on their own skin. I believe it can be worn in any climate due to its subtlety, although it may work better in the cold than in the heat. Personally, I have liked it, although it is not my favourite from the brand. The first time I tried it a couple of years ago, it didn’t do much for me, but now I have picked it up again and it has left me with better impressions. The scent is very pleasant; I love the blend of suede with the fruity note, and I think the materials are of high quality as it smells quite natural. It is a pity that the performance is not better. However, given that it is at a reasonable price, I think it is a perfume very worth considering for anyone seeking a great suede scent.
