Dalimania by Salvador Dali is an oriental fragrance for women. Launched in 1999, its creation is signed by perfumer Philippe Collet. The olfactory pyramid unfolds with top notes of peach, blackcurrant and orange; a heart composed of coconut, iris, rose, jasmine and lily of the valley; and a sweet, woody base evoking milk, vanilla, sandalwood, amber and musk.

  • Delicious. I bought it years ago, around 2000; it was a perfume slightly ahead of its time. Highly recommended from my very humble nose, highly feminine and nothing if not noticeable. I love it; I don’t know if it’s still on the market, so if anyone knows about it, please let me know.

  • I love it! It was one of my favourites years ago; its scent brings back memories of an unforgettable love, long summer nights, and warm autumns. It’s feminine, different, with a sweet spot I can’t quite describe but far from overripe fruit or childish candy, suitable for day and night. I adore it. Unfortunately, it’s hard to find, but in my search, I found a modern ‘clone’ from the brand Gres, Fleur Splendide, which smells almost identical, or perhaps it’s the closest thing after all these years.

  • One of the most unbearable things I’ve ever heard. It’s the unacknowledged father of Cacharel’s Amor Amor (2003): fruity, creamy, and velvety, but with a drydown that smells like dry saliva and musk. Dalimania has a hairy, clumpy texture, like wearing a wool jumper in August or touching a cheap fairground plush toy that catches fire with a spark. Just thinking about it gives me a headache. It has an oldie vibe; in 1999, this acidic, oriental feminine style wasn’t in vogue and exploded later. The key note is skin peach and blackcurrant. I wonder what’s wrong with mid-2000s orientals (The One, Euphoria, Amor Amor) that remind me of a terrible Sunday morning aftershave. Perhaps the aftershave I used to wear ten years ago smelled exactly like this.

I absolutely loved it! I used to wear it a lot in the 90s; I’ve never found it again. I wore it on summer nights, what wonderful memories…

I tried it in a decant and wore it for three days in a row: it’s a 90s gem. At first, I didn’t like it; I sensed a strange aroma (perhaps blackcurrant and peach), but once it dried down, the magic arrived. It’s a classic fruity opening, floral heart, and woody amber drydown. On my skin, it smells very much like Good Girl gone bad; I adored it and believe it was a masterstroke in 1999. Plus, it has excellent longevity and sillage so others can smell it.
