Descripción

Laguna by Salvador Dali is a fruity floral fragrance from the olfactive family, launched in 1991 and designed for women. The nose behind this composition is Mark Buxton. The top notes unfold a vibrant freshness with pineapple, Moroccan lemon, grapefruit, galbanum leaf, peach, plum, mandarin, and raspberry. The heart reveals floral and woody elegance thanks to Italian iris, Brazilian rosewood, jasmine, valley lily, and Egyptian rose. Finally, the base notes anchor the olfactive pyramid with an exotic and warm touch composed of coconut, vanilla, Madagascar sandalwood, tonka bean, musk, patchouli, amber, and cedar.

  • I’ve read plenty of comments about this SD classic but don’t fully identify with any of them; it must be due to my personal chemistry with Laguna. I wrote my review after a long time without doing one. I have certainty about the origin of the bottle I’m using and the previous one, but in no era have its citrus notes lasted more than 15 minutes on me. I perceive slightly sweet and acidic ripe fruit that quickly gives way to floral notes where no flower is clear except a powdery iris. Before the first hour, I already notice some base notes. There are few fragrances where sandalwood stands out so much for me; this is exactly why I like it, as with me it’s not just any fruity floral, but a woody, balsamic and aromatic aroma. Only after three hours and in temperate weather do I manage to perceive a creamy vanilla. I could say it’s a light scent, but rather oriental, creamy, quite unisex, and if it weren’t for its name and beautiful turquoise presentation, I’d never associate it with aquatic, ozonic, fresh or summery. It allows year-round use. Its fixation is good for an EDT, around six hours, and its trail is moderate. In short: recommended.

  • It’s been with me for over 20 years and I still find it fascinating. I don’t see it as a classic (which it is); I find it super modern, different, unique and exotic. It’s strange how it persists and changes delicately: citrus and fruity at the start, then transforms into something humid, woody and exotic due to the patchouli, amber and very oriental coconut. The finish is sweet and milky with delicate vanilla. I see it as perfect for spring, a powerful scent with a solar character that, for an EDT, lasts a long time on my skin, and the price is extraordinarily good. I hope to always find it.

  • I just bought it in Buenos Aires. I’m 24 and remember my mum wore it between 1996 and 1998 for years; I love it. I was surprised because I thought, given the colours, it would be aquatic, but nothing of the kind: it’s floral, fruity and sweet. I think it suits any season and time of day. The bottle is beautiful. It’s a unique, original fragrance, free of clichés, with notes of coconut, vanilla and flowers. It has great personality, a wildcard for any season, time, age or gender; it could be unisex. I’m in love, can you tell?

  • Crisindian

I bought it blindly based on your reviews and I feel terrible to say I didn’t like it at all, nada. For me, it smells like a totally masculine perfume, and I don’t even like it for men, what a shame.

  • Jesica La Roja

I adore the fragrance, but unfortunately it’s almost imperceptible on my skin and doesn’t last at all. I asked my son, who has an excellent sense of smell and says with other fragrances, ‘Mum, what a lovely perfume’, and barely after applying a good amount, he can’t perceive it. I see others have the same problem; perhaps that’s why it’s not expensive, as it lacks good fixatives. I use it daily and evaluate whether to buy it again. It’s a pity.

  • maiacernadas

It’s fresh. Not my style, but I recommend it for spring. It’s very cheap, smells good, and ideal for daily use.

  • I wore it in the mid-90s: fruity and fresh. Although it has citrus, it doesn’t smell much like that; for me, pineapple predominates, followed by sandalwood, while the other fruits and flowers are barely noticeable. It’s versatile, suitable for all ages and informal or semi-formal occasions, not intrusive, almost unisex, and the bottle is exquisite. I’d recommend it to someone starting out who wants to avoid gourmand scents.

  • The name and aquatic concept have nothing to do with the fragrance; it smells good and was a bargain, sweet and floral like many of its era but unique. We are decades away from perfumery evolution, which is why there are so many detractors of Laguna. The packaging is the real added value; if you’ve seen Dalí’s sculptures, you’ll know that bottle is almost one of his works.

  • I loved it so much I finished two bottles for everyday wear at work and always received compliments; it lasts nearly six hours, smells of delicious flowers, and the bottle is very pretty.

  • 1802sandra

A classic my husband gifted me at the start: a safe, floral scent with citrus notes, fresh, delicate and feminine, though it doesn’t last long on my skin.

  • This perfume is delicious! I’ve been using it since I was 17 (now I’m 25 and it still seems excellent, and I’m sure I’ll keep using it in 10 and 20 years). It’s simply delicate; it’s one of those scents that makes you close your eyes and let out a soft sigh of enjoyment. It smells clean, neat, and refined; it’s relaxing and gives me a lot of peace, but it’s not subtle; you can feel it quite a bit; people notice it and ask what you’re wearing. It’s a very original scent, honestly; there’s nothing else that reminds me of this aroma. It’s ultra-versatile, fresh yet creamy, soft yet intense…

  • There isn’t any perfume quite like it. I buy it over and over; it seems excellent for someone with a limited budget but a desire to wear a unique scent. I consider it the best perfume of the cost. In Argentina, the 30cc bottle can be found for less than $10.

  • SWEET, SOFT, FEMININE, AND CHEAP… what you need every day to go to work and let everyone know you’re a woman. In its opening, the roughness of Italian iris is very noticeable. The vanilla is so intense that it’s very present in all three stages. It’s no surprise it reminded me of Le Male by JPGaultier, as both share the same five ingredients in their base.

  • Feversupernova55.

This is my mother’s go-to perfume, which is why I know she’ll always have a bottle of Laguna for me. The odd thing is that on my skin it stays too sweet (the fruits are very noticeable), whereas on hers the iris and jasmine stand out. I’d say it’s a perfume with very distinct phases, and each person’s pH can enhance one or the other.

  • This perfume has a fresh, fruity opening that is fleeting, then moves to a talc-like/floral scent before becoming slightly more laconic and creamy with a mildly sweet base. It’s extremely pleasant, elegant, and soft; the projection is short but irresistible. Afterwards, close to the skin, it lasts about 6 hours (depending on the skin). Ideal for people aged 30 and upwards. It’s very feminine, delicate, talc-like, and mildly sweet, therefore extremely seductive. It can be worn daily or for a night out or something more romantic. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a soft, seductive, feminine, talc-like, and mildly sweet perfume.

  • Laguna by Salvador Dalí is a contradictory perfume: far from its sea-green colour and name, it isn’t aquatic. This 90s classic is loaded with ingredients that aren’t very heavy or light; it’s a mix of fruits and flowers with a strong touch of vanilla and sandalwood. The opening is slightly fresh but changes quickly to reveal that fruity mix (pineapple, coconut, plum, peach, raspberry, lemon, mandarin, and grapefruit); none stands out, it’s a fruity blend, between sweet and salty, with the powdery touch of iris in the heart, alongside jasmine, rose, and lily. They don’t feel natural, but synthetic, which isn’t bad; perhaps that’s why, although it’s not very strong, it has decent longevity and sillage. The dry down has an oriental touch thanks to the perceptible vanilla from the start alongside sandalwood and tonka bean. I discovered it while searching for my vintage Lolitas, and upon smelling it, it seemed like an original proposal; it doesn’t resemble anything in my collection, plus it seems perfectly unisex.

  • Melimontecino

This is my mother’s perfume. It’s sweet but not overpowering; the fragrance is quite complex—I can’t distinguish the individual notes, but together they result in something pleasant. It suits cold days or evenings better due to its sweetness, and I wouldn’t recommend it for younger girls, but rather for more mature women.

  • I’ve just received my bottle; I can’t wait to smell it after 20 years. I must say that Laguna from back then was more intense; I don’t know if it’s due to changes in our skin’s pH. I’ll see how it evolves over time, but for now, it doesn’t envelop me as it used to…

  • An aunt gifted me this years ago and I fell in love at first sniff. It has an unmistakable scent: sweet yet delicate, with plenty of vanilla. Then all the notes balance out subtly. It lasts a long time, even lingering on clothes for days. The bottle is gorgeous; it’s one of my favourites and I always have it.

  • I bought this blindly and, honestly, it smells luxurious. It’s not a scent that clings heavily to me, but for these spring days, I use it with great pleasure. Given the price, I’m absolutely delighted with my purchase.

  • I bought this perfume blind because here in Argentina I found the 30ml one for $1500 on offer, also because I know it’s mythical and besides, since my grandmother had a Dalí, I know they last a long time. I won’t lie: at that price it’s impossible to get something of such good quality and longevity, but it’s not my style. That said, I’ll describe it in case someone is curious because it’s excellent. Generally it’s fruity and quite sweet; you can feel the pineapple, peach, raspberry and plum, but they don’t have that freshness that one might expect from a perfume called ‘Lagoon’. It’s not citrusy, and in my opinion it’s not tropical (as Omnia Paris is). Even the vanilla is felt a lot (a note that I particularly don’t like) and the patchouli, but the note that bothers me isn’t that one, but its mentholated note because it really smells like mosquito repellent. I bought it thinking that mint would give lightness and freshness to the fruity cocktail, but it didn’t. Please note that it’s not a light fragrance; you don’t feel musk, something green or citrusy that relieves it. If you like fresher perfumes, this would be a night fragrance for summer. If, on the contrary, you like spiced, sweet and woody fragrances, perhaps this would be a day one, even in winter. Beyond this, it’s a quality perfume, it has certain development and complexity; its longevity and trail are really excellent. So if you like sweet perfumes, you can trust this one, especially if you get it cheap. I wouldn’t buy it again; in fact, I think I’m going to give the one I have to my mother, but it’s a very good perfume.

  • I had Dalí’s Laguna back in the mid-90s, after the Classic, which had me very smitten. Laguna is totally different, but I liked it even more. While the original Dalí was mysterious and sensual, Laguna is very delicate and youthful. I remember the pineapple was very present, giving it a fresh touch; I didn’t sense the coconut (a pity because I’m a fan), but my nose was different then, inexperienced and instinctive. I used it a lot in spring and summer, but it was very versatile. It’s at an excellent price in my country (Argentina), so I’ll be back for it to enjoy it soon.

  • I owed myself this review because I used the fragrance quite a bit in the 90s and I remember it with much affection, beyond keeping that bottle which is a work of art. Seeing that in these difficult times for buying imported perfumes in Argentina it’s at an accessible price, I’m very tempted to buy it again, at least in its smaller version because I’m not sure if I’d use it much. It was a very attractive perfume and at the same time non-invasive. Fresh, citrusy and floral, enveloping. I remember it as very persistent, soft, one of those that accompanies you all day without bothering others. I used it in an office with many people, so I recommend it for those moments: work, outdoor outings, etc., although I don’t like to pigeonhole scents because everyone uses them for what they want. I loved it. I remember its notes of grapefruit, then jasmine and valley lily, giving way to a powdery finish where coconut softly emerged (a note that wasn’t my favourite, but I don’t remember it as strong, it was felt), vanilla and amber. It’s worth trying if you like fresh, citrusy and enveloping scents.

  • I LOVE IT! Excellent blind buy. Very summer and spring perfume. Yes, it’s super sweet and citrusy, but at the same time woody and vanilla. I could perceive this scent in other people close to me when wearing Niña; perhaps there are several dupes and it was something mass-produced. But it’s a delight, nothing to envy from more current perfumes.

  • It was my wedding perfume because I only had this and the Guess, but I don’t regret it. I felt so clean with the iris powder, the freshness of the citrus and the elegance of the raspberry and plum. Despite the time passing, I still like it very much. It’s a discreet but different aroma from the common ones, not the strident ones of the 90s, less of a current gourmand, more rather something surrealistic like its bottle.

  • @egrimalt

I had this in the 90s, in my adolescence, and loved it. It was the only perfume from that era I used from start to finish without getting tired of it, along with CK One. I recently bought it again, wanting to have it back even though I barely remembered how it smelled. Well… I still love it and enjoy it. I sensed its fragrance and remembered, how beautiful it is. On me, coconut, mandarin, pineapple and jasmine predominate. After drying, a few hours later, it leaves a base of woods, amber and coconut sweetened with vanilla. Regarding longevity: on fresh days up to 12 hours or more, mainly in the hair. On warm days, at most 6/8 hours. I’m teaching my husband about perfumes; I told him there are scents to feel sexy, others that give peace and even help you sleep… Laguna, in particular, charges you with energy. This one and the Green Tea by EA are the ones I always choose when waking up early for a long day. It’s a very personal choice, but it serves to understand this lovely aroma, especially for lovers of blind perfume collecting, like me.

This perfume sparked my curiosity about fragrances in November 2021; before that, I couldn’t imagine spending so much on perfumes or reading reviews. How do you review something that only smells? But seeing the bottle in an ad I thought, ‘what a beautiful thing’, and knowing it was Dalí made me more interested. My first search on this forum was for this essence. From there I got my perfumes, my jewellery, and left this vintage fruity one for last. I was encouraged by seeing a moderate price online and ordered it. Well… it disappointed me a little; I expected a vintage bomb, those that give you a headache (I love strong scents). But no, the first sprays gave me nausea, like smelling very ripe, almost rotten fruit, with men’s shampoo. A smell that just made me feel sick. However, I’m stubborn and since I’d spent the money, I had to give it a go and I did. On my sister it smells delicious; although it has that shampoo dry-down, the dry scent is incredible, I almost confused it with Classique by Jean Paul Gaultier (which I love). From then on I got the taste for it. I use it for work, freshly showered, feeling neat and lovely. It’s not a bad perfume, but I definitely wouldn’t repurchase it. That said, a beautiful bottle. A piece of art made for the nose.

  • I heard about it years ago and waited for a cheaper opportunity to buy it. I finally did, and to my surprise, it didn’t seem as captivating as I remembered. I don’t know if they reformulated it or if my memory is playing tricks on me. Still, I like it. The bottle is a wonderful Dalí design, with that lovely aqua green like a summer lagoon. It smells citrusy at first, then slightly watery (even though the description doesn’t say so, that’s how it feels to me). Later it turns into a childish touch. It’s very pleasant for a young girl, for summer and everyday wear, not for special events.

  • I can’t believe it; I’ve never spoken about this perfume before. Considering how affordable it is, the longevity on my skin is actually quite good. It smells of sweet fruit, and checking the notes confirms it’s pineapple. It’s very fruity and jammy, but not a lemon bomb like Light Blue, though I do like it. Would I buy it again? Yes, for the scent, the price, and the lasting power.

  • Mariposa_nocturna30

It’s quite a powdery and vintage aroma. The only downside is the longevity, but it’s so unconventional that if you want to stand out from the crowd here, you must try it.

  • A fragrance where the air of the nineties is present. Although the list of notes might scare you, it’s easy to summarise the aroma. It opens citrusy and evolves into a sweet fruity scent, with ripe fruits and a woody base. It feels creamy, thanks to the coconut and sandalwood. The vanilla also appears as it dries, closing the sweet circle. It’s not cloying; it feels very fresh. If you look at the colour of the bottle and imagine a lagoon in the Caribbean, that’s what it smells like. Beach freshness, fruit salad, coconut water, and palm trees. It has surprised me in a good way.

  • This perfume is not linear at all. It has an opening that is somewhere between sweet, citrusy, and woody, which takes a little getting used to. If you ask me, it’s unisex, and I even think it’s more for men than women. It feels soapy, and I don’t detect the peach.

  • I had it years ago; I found it very sweet and a bit heavy. I used it to go out at night and it was ideal for autumn and winter.

  • What a pity about this house; unfortunately, they are disappearing, so I took the 125 ml version. Very rich, summery, and very nineties, those fresh scents with personality. The bottle is beautiful; it’s going into my collection.

  • Silviavivi

A couple of years ago, while browsing perfumeries with my daughter, we saw this Laguna by Dalí at a reduced price. We bought it: I for the memory of that fragrance from the nineties, and she for the beautiful green bottle. That Laguna from the nineties is the one described by Spartacus below. This current version is obviously reformulated and cheaper. The opening is more alcoholic than citrusy. I’m grateful it still retains some of that characteristic creamy, warm, and enveloping finish. Today, when I sprayed it on my wrist, I thought: what a pity I didn’t know how to appreciate it back then.

  • amalonso1990

They gave it to me years ago, and I only now appreciate it. It lasts quite a while on my skin, about four to five hours. Although the base is vanilla and coconut, the fruity opening feels very fresh. I wear it after a shower or for a workout because it’s soft but noticeable.

  • Edit: I returned to the perfumerie and found this Laguna by Dalí at a crazy price. I tested it on my wrist and the opening didn’t smell as alcoholic as the one I have at home, so I took a small bottle. Exquisite citrus and fruity opening, with a creamy and sweet finish (tonka bean and coconut) that doesn’t overwhelm. I choose it for summer nights; I wear it to feel sexy. I used it at a party and it lasted well on the skin, although the projection was a bit short. Happy to have replaced my old bottle.

  • Roxana Drama

Laguna is a summer classic that almost no one uses anymore. On my skin, the citrus notes dominate, straight to the beach. I get a hint of sunscreen, perhaps from the coconut, with a slightly synthetic touch that fits perfectly. In the base, there’s wood and cleanliness thanks to the patchouli, while the sweet fruits are subtle, like a distant cocktail that accompanies without overpowering. The projection is moderate, and although it’s a summer scent, it works incredibly well at night. It lasts about five hours on my skin.

  • What a handsome scent, what a pity those around you can’t smell it. It has all the fruits and it’s a miracle they’re blended this way, but I have to spray like a madwoman for it to be noticeable. Is it weird? Did it come faulty, or is it my skin? Greetings.
