Descripción

True Love by Elizabeth Arden is an oriental floral fragrance for women. Launched in 1994, the nose behind this composition is Sophia Grojsman. The top notes reveal apricot, peach, freesia and green accents; the heart unfolds iris, rose, lily root, heliotrope, valley lily and jasmine; while the base notes settle on sandalwood, vanilla, amber and cedar.

  • Very lovely, it’s a scent I’ve loved since the year it was released. I used it when I was 15, and although I don’t use it anymore, I have a bottle to smell from time to time and remember old times.

  • I used it in my adolescence… I loved it, it smelled fresh, of roses. Afterwards I couldn’t find it and in Liverpool they told me it had been discontinued. 9 out of 10.

It has a very delicate and pleasant aroma. But unfortunately, it lasts longer than a sigh. Personally, it’s hard to find a lasting Elizabeth Arden perfume for me.

  • True Love is a pleasant and wearable perfume for daily use, with a soft and simple scent and a slightly talc-like trail, very feminine. I got to know it thanks to a friend from here on Fragantica who gifted it to me. It’s a good option for any weather and time of day, and it’s very friendly because, being its trail soft, it doesn’t bother anyone, yet you can still smell it.

  • It’s a soft powder of delicious and delicate roses and peaches. I detect peach, rose, jasmine, iris, and cedar. The amber and vanilla are always there to add warmth. It’s soft, talc-like, feminine, and warm. It smells of innocence, of baby skin. It evokes that stage when we believe in love for life or in a soulmate. We should look at and enjoy love like that, without losing that illusion. I see it as perfect for a teenage girl’s first perfume, shy and romantic, stepping into her first loves. I would use it after a shower to go to bed and have beautiful dreams, as it’s relaxing and enveloping. It’s an EDT, the trail very soft and the longevity moderate, close to the skin. In Spain it’s not discontinued; it’s offered as a new fragrance at a good price. Ideal for spring, autumn, and winter. The bottle doesn’t do justice to the beauty of this fragrance. Sometimes in simple or dull packaging appears an exceptional fragrance. One shouldn’t be led by appearances. It makes me feel happy, feminine, delicate, and loved.

I just tried it and it smells like baby-woman, if that makes sense. It’s a clean and pleasant scent, ideal for everyday wear.

  • I’m sorry about the peachy aroma, but I think it’s my skin: it doesn’t last even an hour. I don’t know why, because all Elizabeth Arden perfumes fascinate me and last more than eight hours, but this one is a pity. I used it in summer and nothing, it didn’t last at all. To repeat, it’s a pity because the scent is exquisite.

TRUE LOVE!! I had a true love affair with this perfume in the 90s, one of the first I owned and a gift from my mother. I always associated it with marriage, due to the circles on the packaging resembling wedding rings. I still close my eyes and feel its scent, as if I’m wearing it: soft, subtle, fresh like roses at dusk or dew in a garden. I thought about buying it again; I couldn’t resist the experience of smelling it once more and remembering beautiful things. Although it’s no longer in many shops, I saw it very cheaply, so I have no excuses. If you’re looking for something soft and fresh with rose notes, it’s for you.

As they say, this fragrance is a true love… it is soft and feminine, ideal for warm weather… it lasts a long time on my skin…

  • Smells like liquid talcum powder with roses, almost like in a baby shop; it smells lovely but I wouldn’t buy it again, although given the price I might consider it. The longevity is minimal; on my skin it doesn’t last more than two hours.

  • I am fascinated by this fragrance; it is simply delicious, its smell makes me feel fresh and brings back many beautiful memories. I adore this fragrance.

  • JosueRangel22

I love this scent, even though they say it is for ‘older’ people; to me, it is very relaxing, very soft, and with extremely pretty notes. It is a very tender scent, not sweet… something tender and tranquil floral. I love it.

  • I share the opinion that this is absolutely not for older people; rather, it seems like a childish fragrance made for an adult. On my skin, it is very soft and delicate, a pity that it lacks much longevity (at least on my skin). I like wearing it on relaxed days, sunny spring afternoons, or after a shower before starting the day; I wouldn’t use it at night as it would go unnoticed. It is not one of my favourites; perhaps I wouldn’t buy it again because, despite everything, I don’t find it special enough to repurchase.

  • It is simply wonderful. I don’t see it as being for older ladies; on the contrary, I think it suits young women. It is floral and sweet with a tiny acidic touch, nothing gourmand, which wasn’t really in style in the 90s. Perfect for good weather, it has no pretensions, it is carefree and natural. The original bottle was square with two interlinked rings, so Elisabeth Arden proposed it for a happy, calm, and in-love woman. The problem is that the longevity was already deficient since its launch in 1994 without any need for reformulation; however, the price is negligible, so it makes up for it. Another wonderful creation by Sophia Grojsman.

To me, it’s a very lovely, tender and feminine scent. I used it when I was young; it was the best for me.

  • charlotinable

It’s a refined and rich delight, so delicate and well-structured, yet not very long-lasting with extremely weak sillage. I keep a bottle I bought 12 years ago; it’s fermented a little, but it still doesn’t last long. It’s still available and worth having for how lovely it smells.

  • Sometimes it smells like hair lacquer and sometimes like apricot. I don’t find it delicate, powdery or talcum-powdery. On me, it smells like a mix of fruit and lacquer, nothing pleasant, a strange and nonsensical concoction. I see many positive reviews, but conversely, many say ‘I don’t like it’. I think they tried to make a soft version of Sunflower but it ended up sounding strange. DO NOT buy it blindly; you could end up disappointed. Edit: I finally know what it reminds me of! To those who do or have done rhythmic gymnastics, if you remember the smell of the plastic balls… well, it smells exactly like that!

  • 😌 How could I forget it was my first perfume? I used it during my university internship 👩⚕️. Back then, I liked it; floral, sweet, slightly talcum-powdery, with a noticeable sandalwood and a very faint vanilla, even a hint of leather. It truly transports me back to that time and makes it seem like I’m smelling it again in my memories. I highly recommend it, although my tastes have since moved towards fresher notes. It’s good and reasonably priced.

  • I’d been indecisive for months, buying blindly simply because it’s my hobby, a little adventure, haha. I was afraid it might be for ‘older ladies’, so I took a leap of faith and grabbed the 100ml bottle. My instincts didn’t fail! It smells exquisite, soft, simple and fragile, as many reviews say it’s like a baby, but it certainly isn’t. On the contrary, it’s super feminine and, being so soft, it makes you want to bury your nose in the skin to keep smelling it; very intimate and sensual. At first, the alcohol smells like hair lacquer, but it lasts for a breath; then the flowers take over, freesia, iris, heliotrope, a delicate rose and a very soft peach that blend with almost imperceptible woods. Sillage: extremely low, I always test on the inner elbow, here I had to reapply after half an hour because it wasn’t detectable. Longevity: decent, I applied it almost 8 hours ago and I can still smell it right on the skin. Conclusion: it’s beautiful!! Update: at 3pm with two reapplications, I STILL SMELL IT RIGHT ON THE SKIN!!! I’m glad I bought the 100ml ❤

  • I love this brand; the quality of everything is excellent. I like this one a lot for going to work; it lasts a long time on the skin and the projection is good. It’s very feminine, floral like a cream.

  • I bought it blindly on sale and loved it. I don’t notice any vintage vibe; it smells exactly like the blue Nivea cream, meaning a beautiful clean scent. I’d buy it again for daily wear, for going to work or a daytime date, but in weather that isn’t too hot, more like late summer or spring. It’s for those who enjoy the scent of clean soap or cream.

  • Floripa1971

I remembered it from my youth and wanted it for the price. The scent remains intact: delicate, pleasant, and soft. It doesn’t have much sillage or longevity, and the atomiser is terrible; it drips far more than it mists.

  • It has a vintage style and I didn’t like it. I thought it would be sweet, creamy, clean, and modern, but it smells like an old, heavy perfume. I wouldn’t buy it again.

  • Different from the original, which promised eternal love with its crystal bottle and two wedding bands; this True Love is a fleeting romance, without commitment, ethereal. It’s softer and more ephemeral, yet retains tenderness and youthfulness. A delicate, comfortable, and feminine fragrance, ideal for using as a splash after a shower. Spring-like and subtle as a caress of innocent flowers. At an incredible price, it’s a must-have for the vanity to enjoy whenever you wish.

  • Alafi kisieko

Exceptional softness and I love the delicacy of the scent. They say it’s vintage, but I feel it’s timeless. It’s perfect for after a bath, in a mountainous climate, or in autumn.

  • One of the ugliest perfumes I’ve ever bought, or perhaps the only one. I bought it with my nose covered, but later I noticed a strong talcum powder smell mixed with something that reeked of rotten teeth. It reminds me of elderly women from the 70s, grey-haired, wearing bottle-bottom glasses with their hair tied up. I only use it at home to finish it off and not waste the thirty dollars.

  • I bought it by mistake and couldn’t return it. At first, I didn’t get it, but after four years and just three uses, I now see it as an ethereal, soft yet distinctive fragrance. It has that creamy, soapy, astringent facet that evokes cleanliness and delicacy. Perfect for bedtime or waking up to a fresh air, without trying too hard to seduce. Anyone who smells it will sense that calming aura of talcum-powdered white floral and green notes. It lasts nearly four hours on the skin and projects for about an hour and a half.

  • Conceptually vintage, yet it smells like a timeless, high-quality white floral, perfect for summer. It’s creamy and talc-like, leaving that classic blue Nivea jar scent on the skin: subtle but long-lasting. I’d buy it again; it’s a real bargain.

  • First of all, I’m not an expert in notes or much more, just a perfume enthusiast and lover of all types of fragrances. What can I say about True Love! I bought it solely for its price, as it was heavily discounted online and had good reviews. Tremendous fiasco… Definitely every nose and every skin is different. I felt it too synthetic and the opening reminds me of hairspray (Roby fixative). I’m trying to sell or swap it and it’s difficult, it will end up as an air freshener.

  • It’s rich but very soft. I only tried it and feel it’s so soft that less than an hour after applying it, I can’t smell it anymore, so I wouldn’t try another test or buy it again. It’s a lovely and delicate aroma, so have your experience with it and see if it’s your true ❤️.

  • I haven’t bought it yet, I tried it a week ago and was pleasantly surprised. I never imagined that aroma. I thought it would be cloying, the name itself seemed romantic enough to be sickening, but I was surprised by a soapy, clean scent, a bit like cream. Unfortunately, it lasts very little on my skin; for some reason, Arden perfumes don’t fixate. A pity with such beautiful fragrances.

  • A charming aroma, not cloying, very subtle and pleasant. I’ve loved it since I was 16; they should release a Perfume or Eau de Parfum version that lasts longer on the skin.

  • I bought it online without trying it first, guided by the reviews and notes. I think it must be a failed batch; it smells of burnt rubber in the dry down. Although I waited, it didn’t improve, although very slightly. I’ll give it a few months. 16/01/2025: I gave it plenty of time to oxygenate and for that burnt rubber scent to fade. It didn’t work, so I resorted to my old English cologne. Yes. In an empty and clean Natura eau de toilette bottle, I poured True Love and the rest of the English cologne. Holy remedy. It became very soft and tender. It’s my perfume for every day at work. Please forgive my love for it 🙏.

  • I thought no perfume smelled bad, I bought it blindly online because it was nearly free. It smells very synthetic and doesn’t last at all. I just hope it runs out or I’ll end up leaving it in the olfactory trunk.

  • I was gifted it and had wanted to try it for some time. It’s floral, powdery, and clean, with moderate longevity and sillage. At first, it reminded me of Exclamation by Coty but toned down. I think I’ll gift it away because this olfactory profile isn’t really my thing, although when I wore it, people complimented me (the same happened with Exclamation and I didn’t enjoy wearing them either 😅). A pity I can’t enjoy it more myself, as it seems the mass market likes how it wears. And it’s not as vintage as it might appear.

  • I didn’t know I was a fan of master Sophia Grojsman until I landed on Fragrantica and saw that the perfumes I liked and used for my wife were hers. This one is called True Love, and there is no truer love than a mother’s love for her children. It smells of roses, violets, and some tender white flower in bud. If you pair it with a rose cream, it’s even better. The base is musk. It lasts four hours, but it’s ideal for this spring season.

  • Dery Ramirez

Truly, True Love, along with Pleasure by Stee Lauder, Scape and Contradiction by Calvin Klein, Amarige by Givenchy, or the classic Dolce Gabbana, are vintage perfumes solely due to their age on the market because they smell timeless; no one will tell you that you smell like your grandmother. Perfumes have no age, although many people today believe they do. True Love is very wearable, smells clean and soft, it’s excellent, and any woman of any age can wear it well. I love it.

  • Perfect for everyday wear at home. In the heat, it’s very refreshing; floral, green, and woody with noble hints of peach and apricot. Very pleasant. I absolutely adore that it features the intertwined wedding rings motif; it’s super romantic.
