Jaipur by Boucheron

I just finished a decant gifted by a friend and finally I can talk about Jaipur, a classic I wanted to try. It is very fruity and floral with a vintage air. To me, it smells of peach and a bouquet of flowers of all colours with dusty nuances; no single note stands out, but the blend is balanced and nothing is strident. The base is resinous and even animalic. It resembles Volupté in style but is not the same. Although the fruity sensation is similar, here there is no mimosa, just that floral bouquet. Volupté is more punchy, projects more and lasts longer, but perhaps less refined. It has moderate sillage and lasts 8-9 hours; it is very wearable and spring-like. If you like imposing and classic florals, you might like it. It is a good alternative if Volupté or Tresor feel heavy to you, although if you have to pay gold prices, dosed Volupté is the better option. Scent 7/10, Longevity 8.5/10, Sillage 7.5/10, Value for money 7/10, Versatility 6.5/10, Packaging 6/10. Would I buy it again? I did not buy it.

Jaipur is the singular oriental beauty of Boucheron… How many times we have wished for and cried over its loss. It is a princess essence of lavish necklaces and silky skin, a dream that dressed you wherever you went. I had a miniature about 3000 years ago, I remember its champagne-dusted opening and the entrance of that era of glamour. That glamour united with the absolute singularity of India. Jaipur, the pink city of Rajasthan, with its palaces like Amber Fort or Hawa Mahal… No fragrance can better represent the lavishness of its palaces, mystical corners and red sunsets. It had components that formed a perfume of yesterday, what we long for today. Its impossible-to-describe complexity made me understand the beauty of perfumery, of time and the eternal. Wearing it, I put drops on my neck; after a while it gave a caramelised tone but maintained a precious rose, its sweetness was a Hindi tale. Its sweetness on a virgin skin moved me. I started choosing orientals by hand to dream: and who wouldn’t with these jewels? Sophia Grosjman offered us dreamy delights, voluptuous, unctuous and elegant, leaving one of her best seals. I think she poured her soul into the East here. It is like watching the sunset on the terrace of a great palace, with juicy fruits nearby and an ice-cold champagne while the heat lulls you over majestic carpets… Boucheron kept this supreme inspiration in one of the most beautiful bottles I have had. Being a young woman, I loved to dream about it. If they brought it back, I bet my fingers it would be a niche over 300 euros. Now to have one like this you have to be the owner of the palaces it evokes 🙁

It is a fantastic perfume, delicate, elegant, mysterious, exquisite and unique. It steals my words; its aroma transports you to another world or era. It is so rich that I love it and, at the same time, very little used. If you go to a dinner or a romantic night with that aroma, you will definitely be the queen of the place. It is simply enchanting.
