Nice perfume. I haven’t tried the Victory Elixir, but given my limited experience with fragrances, I’ll give my opinion: I can make out a distinctly mentholated opening, almost effervescent, which I think is the best part, probably because of the amount of cardamom and lavender. Then it starts to blend with a bit of sandalwood, spices, incense, similar to a sahumerio, and at the end the fragrance becomes very much like mainstream sweet vanilla perfumes. I really thought it was an autumn/winter evening scent, but I think I’d wear it during the day too in those seasons. I’ve only just started testing it and I don’t know if it was olfactory fatigue, but I didn’t feel that the sillage and longevity were very good; I’ll let it oxidise. Even so, it makes up for it with great aromatic quality, a good price, and it also includes an extra 20 ml as a decant to reapply, something notable about this Emper line. It was a blind buy and I think I’d buy it again even though I’ve only used it a few times.
It’s a spicy, warm, sweet perfume and it really does resemble the Invictus Victory Elixir, but mind you, I wouldn’t say it’s a 1:1. The main difference, to my mind, is that in this Elixir 88 I feel much more cardamom and spices, and clearly the lack of the sweet vanilla that the Rabanne one has. Having said that, I love the DNA of the Victory Elixir, but being such a sweet, powerful and loud perfume, it loses a lot of versatility. This is where I see this Elixir 88 as an excellent alternative, because it has a fairly similar DNA but toned down in sweetness and a bit spicier, which gives us the chance to wear it a little more easily. As for longevity, on clothes it lasts for days and on skin it easily goes past 6/7 hours; projection is medium/good. Honestly, for the price, it’s a little gem, and on top of that with the 20 ml decant that comes in the box, it’s a real winner. I recommend it if you’re looking for a sweet, youthful perfume with good longevity and, above all, without that fruit cocktail that’s so trendy lately.
I’ve had this perfume for a year and I have to say it’s a beauty, so delicious and exquisite. At first, some note in the drydown didn’t quite convince me, but now it has become much more solid and robust; this one really has punch, wow. What I would highlight is the scent trail it leaves behind when you walk past; if people hadn’t told me how good I smell when I walk next to someone, I’d never have known: you don’t notice it yourself, but other people do. To sum up, this DNA is popular, and very much so. Women love it, no question, because they’ll shower you with compliments in an incredible way; men like it too and will want to smell like you. They’ll definitely ask you what you’re wearing, because this great perfume is totally worth having in your collection.
