F by Ferragamo Black by Salvatore Ferragamo is a spicy aromatic fragrance for men. Launched in 2009, this composition was created by Olivier Polge. Upon opening, lavender and apple offer a fresh, vibrant first impression; the heart reveals the warmth of black pepper and coriander; while the base settles with the elegance of tonka bean and labdanum.

  • I bought it blindly and loved it on the first try; it seemed unbeatable quality for the price. Then it became sweeter until I couldn’t stand it and gave it away. It reminds me of Le Male, although at first I thought of Kenzo Power. It has some of Allure Sport Extreme, but it’s sweeter and less natural. It’s not bad; many will like it and the price is good, but it’s not for me. Lasts eight hours on a 2019 batch.

  • Excellent price for a fragrance with trail and longevity. Don’t use it in spring or summer; it’s for cold climates where it lasts longer. I recommend it, gentlemen.

I went to Liverpool looking for perfumes for my self-birthday present, with a budget for five bottles. I had four clear choices: Aqua Essentiale, Declaration Essence, Egoiste Platinum and Nuit d’Issey. I left the last one to my trusted sales assistant. I almost bought Roadster Sport, but she told me it was more youthful and odd. The Secante took my fancy. At first, it smells synthetic; my girlfriend says it smells like book plastic, but it’s pleasant. Then comes the pepper, and the base turns sweet. It’s disconcerting and different. I use it for night outs and surprises. 8/10.

  • Very talcum-like, spicy and stately. Avoid it in the heat. The only thing I’ll say is that I used it at university and was a sensation. It’s a lovely perfume for the price.

  • Smells very good; spicy opening but fresh with a rich lavender. It’s not as sharp as they said; it feels talcum-like with a subtle touch of apple. Ideal for the office and cool days. At this price, highly recommended ✌🏽

  • Good for the office, nothing spectacular, smells of pepper. Weak projection. For the price, you can’t ask for more. 7/10.

  • At first, it’s very spicy and peppery, but over time it softens and you notice the lavender and apple. The bottle is very original.

  • monsieurleather

I sold it earlier because I couldn’t see the point, but thanks to Jerry Drake and training my nose, I now appreciate it. The peppery opening is intrusive, but then it becomes powdery, talcum-like, and lavender-scented, almost soapy like the Prada ones. It suits the office or dates, though it can be strong in summer. It lasts eight hours with two sprays. It’s very cheap, so I might buy it one day.

  • otrosudacamas

The hype played a bad trick on me. If I’d tried it first, I wouldn’t have bought it, although I do wear it in cold weather. It’s not bad, but the pepper is abrupt and lacks subtlety. It doesn’t draw attention; it’s invisible: perfect for the office or a coffee, but forget about pubs or clubs. I use it when I want to smell good without spending on my favourites. Death to the hype and the YouTube salesmen.

  • jerry7474

I bought Ferragamo Black with enthusiasm, but the peppery opening clashes with me and doesn’t convince. It evolves to become bearable, yet settles into a generic tone. Only in the final hour, as it’s dying, does it smell good. Out of its six hours, five are dull or odd. I wouldn’t recommend it; it has nothing of ‘Black’ about it, and calling it that is a mistake.

  • What a delightful fragrance and the dry-down is excellent. The opening is similar to the classic Chanel Allure Homme, but the dry-down is totally different. Very rich. Pity about the projection or I got olfactory fatigue as it doesn’t project much. On my skin and clothes it lasts more than eight hours.

  • Very_gentleman

I sprayed twelve times and wore it for eight hours (that’s what I thought). I got home, went to sleep, and woke up in the evening still smelling it; it continued until I was saturated and had to open the window. It is affordable and smells very good, like rich talc. Ideal for school from autumn onwards and for the office all year. In fact, I left some at the office and put it on when I arrived. Recommended: yes, four out of four.

  • If I find it similar to La Nuit de l’homme, it is much better. Smells of cardamom with a hint of pepper, lasts longer, and projects more. Definitely worth it.

  • What a pleasant aroma; you smell clean. It is very versatile for daily use. I perceive it as citrus with lavender and a touch of talc, but very rich. Perfect for the office. Lasts about five hours.

  • The opening is very good and masculine, then it moves to the cardamom of La Nuit de l’homme and finishes on my skin with a powdery iris reminiscent of Dior Homme, but softer.

  • Never convinced me. I don’t feel it resembles La Nuit de L’homme as claimed; I see more similarity with Chanel Allure Homme: elegant, masculine, and for formal events rather than casual ones.

  • Bought it blindly and it was a bittersweet experience. Smells like lemon with a make-up vibe; the dry-down is talc-like and lasts five to six hours, projecting for only an hour before staying close to the skin. Bittersweet because it draws compliments, but from a certain type of woman. I didn’t like it. I prefer citrus and spices; this is for a young adult aged eighteen to thirty. Do not buy blindly unless you like the style, or it will just sit in your drawer for weekends.

  • poblete.erik@gmail.com

A clean, nocturnal fragrance suitable for semi-formal occasions. The pepper note is quite strong, so three sprays are enough. Recommended.

  • Loleinsaurio

Smells clean and fruity with lavender at first, then evolves into something spiced and sweet thanks to the tonka bean. Totally worth it. Lasts eight hours without issue and is very versatile. It has a slight nod to YSL Y Edt at the start, but it’s not a clone. A lovely scent.

  • I bought it blind, but it’s NOT what I expected. The truth is, if you have CK Obsession, this fragrance is redundant in your collection. I will try to give it other opportunities.

Rating it from its price, which is the only correct way to value perfumes (price-quality), this F Black is indeed a perfumazo: elegant, mature, and with presence. It’s like the intense version of La Nuit de l’Homme, with good performance. It also reminds me of Hummer Black, another one I love and is equally cheap. In my perfume rotation and its ideal climate, autumn and winter, it’s a beauty for semi-formal to formal use, very elegant. It’s good, beautiful, and cheap. Although for purists and snobs of perfumery this perfume is despised and undervalued because they judge from the brands and not from the price, the quality this Ferragamo offers for so little money is very good.

Salvatore Ferragamo F Black… a clean, elegant, and masculine perfume. The change in notes is easily distinguishable: it starts with that clean opening of lavender with apple, and as it dries down, it takes a drastic turn to spiced with the pepper and coriander, with the tonka bean being very masculine and striking. It gives that business man sensation. It was one of my first perfumes and I hold it in great affection. At first impressions it may or may not be liked, but with use it certainly ends up being liked. I would think its age range would be above 25 years.

  • Sergioparfum

A fantastic perfume for its price and scent. It doesn’t have much projection despite lasting 6 to 7 hours on my skin. Smells clean, slightly talcky, with light sweet touches of tonka, moderately vanilla-like with a pepper that isn’t strong or feels as spicy in general. It’s fresh, clean, subtle, and elegant. Perhaps it smells a bit older, but in a well-dressed and neat way. It’s not unpleasant or loud in any sense; I see it as perfectly versatile.

  • Evalencia2938

If you aren’t too experienced and want to know what it smells like, it’s a fresh fruity opening, but as it dries down, that fruity part goes away and it smells like talc with lavender. Personally, being young, I didn’t like it; it gives that pre-barber shop air. It’s a clean scent that, in my opinion, is for older people, over forty. The performance seems excellent, the scent smells like what the fragrance costs, it doesn’t smell expensive or anything like that.

  • Carlo Mendez

F Black is a composition that has its beauty in its simplicity. Although it doesn’t have a great evolution, it is very pleasant to the nose. The protagonists are lavender wrapped in an aura of clean talc, closing with a touch of tonka and spices that make the composition more masculine and give it weight. Without that last facet, it would be a generic perfume; in fact, that was my first reaction upon smelling it. Once it settled on my skin, it began to evolve and improved greatly, becoming one of my favourite commercial scents. In general, it is sober but with that extra ‘sexy’ touch. It’s like that clean and neat man but daring and seductive. In terms of performance, at least on me, it’s not the beast many say it is; I admit it causes olfactory fatigue in me, as after 10 minutes I stop smelling it, however my surroundings perceive it very well. I cannot say objectively how long it lasts, but approximately at least 6 hours if it lasts, obviously not projecting until the last hour but within your personal bubble. Considering the price, it’s a great perfume. I got it new at a super price and recommend it widely. Scent: 8/10, Longevity: 7/10, Projection: 7/10, Recommended.

  • Doctor perfume

My experience with this blind-bought perfume has been disappointing. I followed reviews from influencers like Jeremy Fragrance, Mr. Félix, or Curly Fragrance, but the scent is low quality, the longevity is non-existent, and the projection is poor too. I reapplied it four times during the day to get any performance out of it. There are far better options for a similar price. Don’t waste your money on this.

“F by Ferragamo Black” launches as a bold statement of intent with an audacious bouquet, but faces the challenge of finding balance and novelty. The opening of lavender and apple seeks a duality between the traditional and the modern; the lavender evokes timeless classicism, while the apple adds contemporary sweetness. Although the combination is attractive, the familiarity of the lavender can seem safe, and the apple, while refreshing, risks being predictable. The heart, with black pepper and coriander, attempts a risky manoeuvre. The pepper adds a spicy warmth seeking to awaken the senses, but can result in being intrusive, especially when mixed with the sometimes controversial green coriander. It’s an intense phase that polarises opinions. The base of tonka bean and hop is where it tries to assert its sophistication. The tonka, with its almost gourmand richness, offers a sweetness that blends with the depth of the hop. This combination is the most successful, giving a warm and enveloping base that could have lasted longer. In total, it flirts with audacity without straying from the beaten path. It will be appreciated by those seeking something masculine without challenging the norms too much, but with its own identity. Although not revolutionary, it offers reliable elegance for a staple in the collection.

A cheap beast that delivers on the three B’s: good, beautiful, and cheap, and I believe it has been discontinued in 2024. Smells incredible and performs well enough for me. Yes, it’s generic, but who cares if it does its job for under £30 in a 100ml bottle? Even though Ferragamo called it ‘Black’, it has nothing dark or rebellious about it. It smells like current fashion: wild blue with lavender, a hint of pepper, then heavily sweetened with tonka bean. It hits the mark. Reminds me of a blend of Trussardi Riflesso Blue Vibe, YSL La Nuit de L’Homme, and Bleu de Chanel EDT. Charming, masculine, and well-made, something classic at a great price. I see it for informal or semi-formal wear, for men aged 25 to 55. Medium versatility; above 27-30 degrees Celsius, I think it becomes overpowering due to the talc, and there are better options. Performance and longevity: notable. On my skin, it lasts 6-7 hours, with the last three hours being very close to the skin. I didn’t ask for more or expect miracles for the price. The truth is, it’s very good for the current state of the designer market. PS: if you see it anywhere, even casually in a small perfumeria outside chains like Primor or Druni, in a duty-free shop, online perfumeria, or seller forums, buy it.

No need to look for novelty here; the scent is quite generic. It’s simple, spiced, sweet, and masculine, ideal for autumn or non-hot winters. Lasts about 5-6 hours, and at $25, reapplying doesn’t hurt. It’s good, but don’t expect to be surprised.

  • A fresh fragrance, somewhat common, yet very rich. Undervalued due to its low charisma. Personally, I feel it’s a very good alternative for heat and beyond. Quality-price ratio is superb. On my skin, it lasts over 8 hours with an almost endless sillage, thanks to the pepper giving it a brutal projection.

  • Simple and satisfactory composition; you get a lot for what you’ve paid. It’s a spicy scent with a fresh opening featuring apple that quickly dips into sweetness due to the vanilla and tonka bean notes. Don’t expect a novel scent; this falls into the formal category, a retro aroma updated for today that can be worn daily and in the office. You’ll get compliments for being a tasteful generic scent, but don’t expect a ‘WOW’ when you wear it.

  • The opening is rich, lavender with apple, but as it dries down it gets muddy and takes on a scent I relate somewhat to bitumen, with pepper. Finally, it enters its final phase and the aroma sweetens with tonka bean. As I mentioned in my review of Roberto Cavalli Black, I consider both fragrances to have similar structures but with different notes; that is, although they smell different, they have a similar evolution, with Ferragamo seeming a bit rougher, more masculine, serious, and slightly heavier to me. I recommend it for temperate and cold weather (it can be overwhelming in summer and may become annoying), especially for work use.

  • I own over 200 perfumes, and this is the only one where I can’t detect any scent. It’s faint, barely making an impression. It’s original, and you can tell there’s quality in the packaging, but it has been a terrible miss for me.

  • pedroresti

According to reviews, you need to give it a couple of months for oxidation to bring out new notes and strength that I don’t yet perceive. It smells like pure barbershop, lathering up with shaving foam and aftershave. Longevity is 3/4 hours with no projection. It’s a clean scent for work, and for the price, it’s not bad.

  • Aromatic and spicy, with apple and black pepper standing out. Very rich aroma, with good longevity and projection. Occasion: semi-formal.

  • I didn’t have it on my radar at first, but I found it at a good price and it caught my eye. It’s a fresh aroma with lavender and apple when it first sprays, but as it dries down it becomes more ‘earthy’ as I’ve read elsewhere, and slightly soapy. It’s a generic scent, nothing special; I’d use it for the office or any occasion where I just want to smell nice. As for longevity and sillage, I’ll be testing it and leaving my thoughts.

  • Clean scent of shaving foam and green apple. A good option if you can grab it at a decent price, around €20, and for work. The issue is that it’s gained fame thanks to YouTubers and the price has shot up.

  • There’s something about this fragrance that I find unbearable; I think it’s the blend of two notes. It smells like cheap perfume. I think I’ll gift it away.

  • Hugo Alejandro

It’s a clean lotion, though the components come out quite muddled. The lavender and green apple smell fairly synthetic. The black pepper lingers, and soon the sweet creamy tonka bean emerges… it reminded me of Azaro Chrome, but I prefer Azaro C. I’m still testing the longevity and sillage.
