I stumbled upon Goldfawn almost by chance in a decant, and now it’s a staple. It’s one of the best sandalwoods I’ve tried: rather than creamy, it smells of burning wood, with cedar and vanilla adding brightness and sweetness to that spicy edge. I love it; it’s perfect for autumn afternoons or cold winters, below 18 degrees. The colder, the better. It’s unisex, ideal for quiet evenings that invite reflection and calm. It doesn’t evolve much and isn’t very versatile, which takes off some points, but the longevity (around 8 hours) and sillage make up for it. I’d rate it between 7.5 and 8 out of 10.
I love it because at first it smells like my favourite collector candle, Yankee Candle’s Glittering Star. It’s a woody scent with sandalwood as the star and a very creamy, lactonic, ambered vanilla. On my skin, it gains a sweet, fruity, and spicy note that gives it a super cozy, Christmas-y vibe. To me, it’s not like Nishane’s Ani (which is greener and spicier), but more akin to Goldfield and Banks’ Silky Woods. It’s 100% unisex, perfect for autumn and winter. It lasts around 7-8 hours with moderate projection and sillage. Perhaps it’s not the most original in the line, but I’ve really enjoyed it and wouldn’t rule out buying it.
