Hand in Hand is a Monegal take on the classic rose-oud, and while it sounds intense, it’s surprisingly wearable. It has an elegant air, with a soft yet dense texture and a touch of darkness that gives it character. I’m not usually a huge fan of ouds, but this one deserves a try, even for starting a collection. It smells great, lasts long, and is slightly more masculine, making it ideal for formal events. Rating: 7/10
It opens with a strong spicy note and dries down to reveal an animalic side (I suppose due to the oud) with a floral base. It lasts around 10 hours, which is a beast for me as my perfumes usually fade quickly. The projection is brutal for the first two or three hours. I’d say it’s better suited for cold nights given the warmth it radiates.
Along with Faisa, these fragrances caught me by surprise. They are fresh and cheerful, perfect for hot days. On my skin, the rose note doesn’t dominate as much. Worth trying.
This is the first Ramón Monegal perfume I’ve tried and it has left me absolutely stunned; now I want to smell all the others. It doesn’t smell like anything I’ve tried before, yet at the same time, it feels like I’ve always known it. It’s rose, oud, a hint of spices and musk; it seems simple but it’s a monster. It smells like luxury soap, a modern classic. It reminds me of Spain, of a ballerina with a fan and heels, and I, who am just a spectator, am delighted to have found it. If Mr Monegal reads this, thank you for this talent. I recommend it blindly and hope to get the full bottle soon.
