About Hot Excess
Hot Excess by Plaisance: A Decadent Chypre Floral with a Liquorice Twist
Hot Excess is a fragrance for women from the house of Plaisance, classified as a Chypre Floral. It opens with bright citrus, then moves into a honeyed floral heart, before settling on a sweet, earthy base.
The name suggests drama, but the scent is more about luxurious sweetness. With toffee, liquorice, and patchouli in the base, it offers a contemporary take on the classic chypre structure.
The top notes are a lively duo of orange and mandarin, giving an immediate zesty freshness that quickly gives way to the heart.
In the heart, honey is the star, intertwined with jasmine, orange blossom, peach, and gardenia. This creates a rich, opulent bouquet with a creamy, almost edible feel.
The base is where the fragrance earns its 'excess' label. Patchouli provides a dark, earthy contrast, while toffee and liquorice add a sweet, slightly bitter twist that prevents the scent from becoming too sugary.
Described as having accords of sweet, white floral, honeyed, citrus, floral, patchouli, soft spicy, fruity, and animalic, Hot Excess is a complex blend that reveals different facets over time.
With an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 from two user reviews, it has made a strong impression on those who have tried it.
This is for the perfume lover who enjoys sweet, honeyed florals with a gourmand edge. It's ideal for evening wear or for when you want a scent that feels both comforting and daring.

My girlfriend used it and it smelled of cigar but the good kind, it was quite weird but it was a funny smell, recommended to stand out from the rest, don’t expect compliments for it being good, rather for saying ‘What did she put on?’ They say it smells like Scandal for women and I saw they have the same notes. I suppose they are exactly the same. Edit: THEY SMELL THE SAME. I didn’t notice a difference, she put on Scandal and I asked her if she put on this one 🤣🤣 Good dupe 10/10
