Intimately Beckham Men by David Beckham

For many years I used to meet ladies on the street wearing a very strong perfume, quite spicy and a bit shrill, very annoying; I never knew which fragrance it was, but smelling it over the years sparked my interest to find out what it was. It didn’t become my favourite, but that annoying, somewhat confusing smell, like roses or floral with a good load of cayenne pepper or something similar, made me think: what is that annoying smell I keep perceiving on the streets? Well, maybe one day I’ll know. In the middle of this year, my wife was given a gift, it was a perfume, an equivalent or a ‘our version of’ Eternity for Women, and oh surprise, when I smelled it I realised it was that horrible thing I’d been smelling on the streets countless times in some women. By the way, she didn’t like it at all, it was very annoying to her and she only used it once, I think she’ll end up giving it away or throwing it in the bin. So that’s what this thing smells like, a sort of Eternity for Women, but the bad thing doesn’t end there; fortunately its sillage is so low it’s even less than on the skin. I used it with quite a bit of over-application, about 14 sprays, and from the start I could only perceive it ‘almost’ on the skin, the truth is it didn’t even reach that. As for the smell, I didn’t like it at all, there will be others who do like it and that is very respectable, but coming back to its sillage, the truth is such a bloody fragrance, so much so that there has been talk lately about the restrictions imposed by IFRA on components or ingredients and they are neglecting the sillage part a lot, I think that would be more competent for some consumer rights institution, but if they regulate components so they don’t affect the end user, that sillage also affects the end user because in the end we buy them, they aren’t given to us, so a fragrance like this with almost non-existent sillage is something they shouldn’t allow on the market. They mention here that it has some resemblance to the current M7 by Collection, nothing further from the reality; I have it and I can tell you they don’t resemble each other at all, the current M7 is much better than this trash, it smells much better and projects 20 times more. It is also said that it won 2 Fifi Awards, which I don’t know, but if it’s true, only one word comes to my mind regarding this fragrance industry: DECADENCE, they are that bloody messed up. I got it for $12; it is said that sometimes you can get good things at cheap or reasonable prices, and it’s true, like the $35 Oud by Armaf, but one has to be realistic, $12 is no longer in the range of a good price or something cheap, it would be more of a ‘knick-knack’, nothing good can be expected from that. If they gave it to me at that price, how much would it cost the seller? About $7 or $8? And without mentioning how much its production costs per unit, let’s say about $2 or $3? What can you expect from something that comes out of the factory costing less than $5? NOTHING REALLY GOOD. With a bad smell and almost non-existent sillage from start to finish, it had a longevity of about 3 or 4 hours for me; there will be those who do like its aroma, but in the end, due to its very bloody sillage, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

The beach at dusk and a glass of Thunder Bitch with ice is a recurring image I see when I inject this Intimately, which makes me feel so Mediterranean, endowing me with a magnetic, fresh, and vigorous halo that takes me to places without hurry or hustle where city life unfolds without vertigo or the fear that everything could turn into the movie ‘Metropolis’. It is summer, undoubtedly the season that for me occupies this quite unique and nothing footballer aroma, representative of a clean paradox, nothing soapy, spiced and liquorish, wearing a uniform of synergy between youth and veteranism. A fragrance I feel young and mature at the same time, as if through its notes and nuances it were deduced the weight of having lived without having spent all the cartridges of innocence. Like that young man seeing his first grey hairs appear and recognising his hair is scarce, or that other mature man advancing in the years without pretending to get old, maintaining his good look inside and out, as if blessed by a youthful joy still not lost. What an electric chemistry between sweet spiced and what a perfect friendly war between sandalwood, patchouli and cardamomo after the amber spell of the violet. A marine liturgy of salty kisses, caresses and liquor, treasured in a wonderful square container endowed with that timeless classic beauty, where the soft edges settle between the fingers with comforting touch. Like a beautiful safe guarding a unique nectar that will be the enjoyment of a simple type with discontinued ideals, outside the current alpha market, but with a personal opinion about the world and current affairs. Intimately, intimately recommended.

I’d been wanting to buy this fragrance for a while; we could say I was a bit ‘hyped’, and luckily it was a satisfying blind buy. I liked it very much, although I knew what to expect regarding duration, projection, and sillage. If you’re looking for a perfume with extraordinary performance or you prioritise longevity over the scent, Intimately isn’t for you. Starting with the aroma, the opening is a bit alcoholic (let it settle for a couple of minutes). After the initial alcohol, we can appreciate a spiced opening, slightly peppery, with a well-balanced citrus part of grapefruit and bergamot. As time passes, not too much, a blend of violet, sandalwood, and amber rises. Floral, woody, powdery, and slightly sweet are the adjectives I would use to qualify it. The three notes I would highlight are cardamomo, amber, and sandalwood. Obviously, there are more notes quite present, but I always like to mention the three most predominant ones. Its performance is quite modest, 4 hours of longevity with non-existent projection and sillage from the start. I consider it an all-rounder fragrance that will work well in any season, both day and night. Very unisex, leaning slightly towards the masculine side but nothing a woman couldn’t wear. It’s a perfect perfume for close distances, with a sexy and even romantic aroma. The name (Intimately) suits it perfectly. An incredible fragrance I didn’t expect at this price; if another house produced it, it would cost ten times more. I absolutely loved it. The opening is a strange, original sweet-and-sour blend: the cardamomo provides the acidity, with citrus and fresh notes buffered by violet and a hint of anise. It’s a warm, sweet aroma, yet with a delicious, fine, and modern acidic floral touch. Then, the violet takes control over a heavily spiced sandalwood base (residual anise, cardamomo, and rising nutmeg). This part is sweeter and spicier, a floral-woody fragrance like a spiced balm where the trails of amber are already noticeable. The dry-down on skin is an ambered sandalwood with very subtle violet nuances. It is fine, sweet, casually executed, and avant-garde. The longevity, for its price, is decent; I own more expensive perfumes that last the same or less, so the performance is moderate in both cases, with longevity and projection of around 6 hours on skin and moderate sillage. Very versatile for warm and temperate climates, day and night. Regarding versatility, it has no flaws; in my opinion, it could even be worn in winter due to its warmth. If you are a lover of warm and sweet perfumes, it is highly recommended, with a brutal value for money.

Oh dear with Beckham… When one approaches a low-cost fragrance (at least it happens to me) one goes with the prejudice of ‘this will be another cheap rubbish’. In this case, on top of being by a footballer, one can think it is even worse… that it will be a simplistic and easy fragrance. Mistake. If I have learned anything, it is that you can never expect anything from a fragrance nor from the house/person who signs it. I used it for the first time yesterday. It reminded me very much of a Zara fragrance I had many years ago. I also got accords that remind me of Gucci pour homme and Versace Man. I do not say they resemble each other, but at some point something of them comes to mind. The violet, nutmeg, cardamom and amber are what I notice most. I say again that it reminds me of that Zara fragrance whose name I do not remember (I keep a purple gift toiletry bag). I do not know if it is my skin, my nose or the clothes, but I cannot share that it is short-lived or lacks sillage. I applied it in the afternoon to go shopping and it stayed with me all afternoon; if I pass by where the coat is now, it still smells noticeably.

INTIMATELY BECKHAM MEN: I liked this fragrance by David Beckham. A pleasant surprise I brought home today. Intimately opens pleasantly with cardamomo accompanied by citrus notes, which fade in a few minutes to give way to nutmeg and a slightly powdery violet. In the dry down, the sweetness of patchouli and amber stands out, never becoming a cloying sweetness that overwhelms the senses. The final result is a very pleasant, wearable, slightly powdery, spiced, and woody aroma. For the price, the olfactory proposition is outstanding. It has its charm. It works well for one-on-one encounters; perhaps this is its best occasion to shine. A fragrance that women tend to like easily. Its performance is well below average, around 4 hours on the skin. I see it as ideal for fresh autumn afternoons and evenings, or some cool spring nights. Suitable for casual or semi-formal wear. The price is negligible; it’s worth buying. It generates compliments.

An incredible perfume I never expected in this price range. If another prestigious house released it, it would cost ten times more. I’ve loved it immensely. The opening is a strange and original acid-sweet mix: acidic cardamom with fresh citrus hints, buffered by the sweetness of the violet and a touch of anise. It’s a warm, sweet scent, but with a delicious, modern acidic floral touch. Gradually, the violet takes command over a spiced sandalwood base (with anise, cardamom, and nutmeg). It’s a floral-woody fragrance like a balm. The dry-down is an ambered sandalwood with subtle violets. Fine, sweet, and avant-garde. The longevity is good for the price; I have more expensive perfumes that last the same. Longevity and trail don’t exceed 6 hours, but it’s versatile, ideal for warm and temperate climates, day and night. It could even be used in winter due to its warmth. Highly recommended for lovers of sweet and warm scents.

For years, I smelled of ladies wearing a strong, spicy, and annoying perfume, something confusing between roses and chilli. I guessed it was that shrill scent that annoyed me. It turns out my mother received a gift similar to Eternity for Women, and upon smelling it, I confirmed it was that annoying thing I loved investigating. She didn’t like it either, only wearing it once. The trail is almost non-existent; even with 14 sprays, it’s not perceived outside the skin. I didn’t like the scent, but I respect those who do. It seems the industry is in decline; a fragrance with zero trail shouldn’t be sold. It doesn’t resemble the M7 from the collection, which smells and projects much better. I got it for $12, a price that doesn’t justify the quality, as the production cost is ridiculous. With a bad smell and poor projection, it lasted 3 or 4 hours. I’ll give it away in a raffle.

The quality-to-price ratio is surprising. Although I’m not a fan of celebrity perfumes, Intimately has pleased me as much as, or more than, some 100 times more expensive ones. It’s round and vibrant, elegant and autumnal. It opens like Lutens’ 5 O’Clock but evolves towards a sweet cedar wood style of the 70s, very updated. In that undeclared wood, a floral violet cardamom accord with sandalwood and anise stands out. It smells fine and expensive; if Gucci had launched it, we would have believed it. The impression is sweet and amber-acidic, with a glimpse of clean, modern tobacco-floral leather. Attractive for both sexes, it earns compliments without seeking them. The longevity isn’t the best (6h), but given how cheap it is, reapplying isn’t an issue. Winner of the FiFi Awards 2008. Highly recommended.

Delicious, very much in line with the woody scents of the early 2000s like Gucci Pour Homme or M7. It has that liquorish tone, like brandy or whisky in a barrel, with a fine deployment, spiced and full of nuances. I’m surprised to find so much complexity at this price; it gives much more than it costs. It starts fresh and modern before indulging in masculine woods with a sweet touch, like a Dolce Gabbana The One but better. Although it’s discreet at the start, its longevity and that distinguished atmosphere are excellent. It smells like something very expensive. Better to apply it liberally; it’s never invasive. After hours, it evolves elegantly into a beautiful patchouli. Impossible not to recommend it.

Hello. I’ve been reading reviews for a while but never felt brave enough to write one. The truth is, I don’t have the nose or experience to break down notes like experts; I only know if I like it or not and if any ingredient stands out. With this perfume, after seeing the ingredient list, something strange happened: upon smelling it, it smells like my tupper with bay leaves for cooking. I don’t know which ingredient gives me that sensation, as it doesn’t contain bay leaves. But in the end, I bought it the other day along with another cheaper one, and what a delightful surprise: it smells great. A pity it doesn’t last longer, because it is worth having in the collection.

I bought it recently and did not use it until today, when the temperature dropped a couple of degrees in the city after so much heat, and the truth is I loved it, it smells superbly delicious. The bottle is lovely, only that it lasts very little; on my skin it lasted close to three and a half hours. Projection and sillage are too intimate, giving no more than half an arm, but well, I think its use is already specified in the name hehe. In the dry down it reminds me of Black Orchid by Tom Ford, obviously without the same quality, but (to my nose) it does give a resemblance.

A curious and beautiful fragrance that requires several sprays to reveal its nuances. At first, the opening felt gummy, like reheated rubber, but upon repetition, I noticed that daring blend of grapefruit, cardamom, and nutmeg. Then comes a powdery floral, leaning more towards roses and mimosa than violets, creating a unisex accord between classic barbershop and feminine dressing table. Finally, a subtle incense with patchouli and woods lends a discreet elegance. It doesn’t project much and lasts moderately, but the quality-to-price ratio is impeccable.

I’ve always wanted to try it for that wood sweetness it suggests, the woodies of the new millennium; it carries notes that drive me mad: cardamomo, nutmeg, violet, patchouli, anise, and sandalwood. If it were cedar instead of amber, I would have already bought it. I’ve been waiting for it for ages; it is a blind purchase in which nothing is lost because it is incredibly cheap. (I also like the bottle; it reminds me of the Gucci Eau de Parfum from 2002)

What a surprise fragrance, pity that it lasts and projects so little. Sometimes we let ourselves be led too much by prejudices that dictate a celebrity fragrance has no quality or original scent; if this lasted 8 hours and projected more, it would be a must-have in every collection. What an elegant and good scent, created for intimate moments.
