Like the knight on the chessboard, the scent refuses the straight line. It jumps sideways, balancing cool freshness against spice and timber.
Up top come citron, nutmeg, saffron and ginger. The citron offers bright, faintly bitter citrus, lifted by ginger bite and tempered by saffron's dry, earthy depth.
The middle places cedar at the centre for a lean woody line, lavender for a tidy herbal freshness, and gardenia to round the edges with a creamy white floral touch, kept well away from sweetness.
Underneath, benzoin, vetiver, oakmoss and cashmere wood extend the trail. Benzoin provides a vanilla-toned resin glow, vetiver and oakmoss add green soil, and cashmere softens everything into a polished woody haze.
The wider impression moves from fresh spice to warm spice, touching on amber, aromatic, lavender, vanilla, lactonic, citrus and a cool metallic thread that keeps the whole piece taut and contemporary.
