It’s a brutal fragrance for spring and summer. It has the Kouros stamp but is less intense, with more focus on citrus and pineapple. I feel it has less sage, so it’s ideal for those who like Kouros but find it too strong. It seems like the summer brother of Kouros: similar longevity, but sweeter, with woody, aromatic, and amber notes. In my opinion, it’s one of the best fresh and summer scents that exist.
Kouros Fraicheur is another testament to the excellent work of Yves Saint Laurent, a brand that has set trends with original olfactive proposals. It’s a more domesticated version of the mythical Kouros, stripping away the beastliness of the original to use bergamot, ginger, and vetiver moderately, creating a unique mentholated aura. Imagine that Drakkar Noir and Kouros went on their honeymoon to the Mediterranean and, after nights of passion, produced this summer perfume. Outstanding quality with moderate to high projection and good longevity. Launching a flanker of a classic is a challenge, but YSL met it with excellence, demonstrating that their emblematic jewels can be reinvented. Rating: 10
I never thought I’d come across this wonderful flanker of King Kouros in a perfumery in my country; I’ve seen it on eBay several times at crazy prices and wanted to find it in Colombia; well, I found it by chance, and thanks to the bargain, I didn’t hesitate to take it home. Kouros Fraicheur has the same DNA as the infamous king of men’s perfumes, but it’s much more ‘delicate’, as the iris scent is barely noticeable; I don’t feel the pineapple, but I do sense the bergamot and ginger, ingredients that give it a more dynamic and modern cut and make it more versatile today; as for the amber, it makes it slightly creamier. It has a very nineties touch that reminds me a bit of Montana Parfum d’Homme and even Salvador de Salvador Dalí, as the citrus notes provide a more sparkling and less ‘rigid’ aura than the classic Kouros. Its classification as a woody chypre is entirely accurate. The performance of this EDT is truly surprising: it lasts over 8 hours on the skin! Projection and trail are moderate to high, notable qualities for a perfume designed for warm days; I think it works better during the day and can be used regularly (however, in my case, I will treasure it to enjoy it for many years). To conclude, I’d like to say that Kouros Fraicheur has really pleased me a lot (how could it not? It is Kouros after all) and I’m proud to have this gem in my collection. Score: Fragrance: 9/10 Longevity: 10/10 Projection: 9/10 Trail: 9/10 Versatility: 8/10 Average: 9/10

Kouros Fraicheur is further evidence of the excellent craftsmanship of Yves Saint Laurent, a house responsible for various olfactive proposals, many of which have set a precedent of originality, being pioneers and trendsetters in the world of perfumes. It is a domesticated interpretation of the mythical and beastly Kouros, in whose composition many of the notes that make up the overwhelming robustness of its older brother (or father?) are omitted. In their place, a moderate use of bergamot is made, which, in conjunction with ginger and vetiver, generates an unparalleled mentholated aura. To get an idea of its aroma, let’s imagine that Drakkar Noir and Kouros went on their honeymoon to the Mediterranean and, as a result of torrid nights of passion, produced this magnificent summer perfume. A creation with outstanding quality, delivering moderate to high projection with very good longevity. It can be quite a challenge to launch a flanker of a mythical and very well-known perfume. But YSL didn’t find the task too big and left a tangible demonstration that one of its emblematic gems can be reinvented through variants of the highest category. Rating: 10
The original Kouros smells like testosterone, cocaine, and steroids. There is no before or after; it’s a separate space, irrepeatable. Brutal and savage, you either give way to it or it runs you over. Its high load of extreme notes, especially civet, led YSL to seek alternatives to flirt with Kouros without entering the dark side. Over the years, we’ve had the Eau de Sport, this Fraicheur (Sanofi white box and Gucci blue box, said to be less potent), and the modern Cologne Sport. All excellent too, now discontinued. Fraicheur attempts to give Kouros a nineties twist, fresh and sporty. It’s noticeable from the start: clean, cold citrus notes, with a touch of pineapple, and inserted there, the Kouros aroma. But at low volume, barely any civet (that smell of cat litter), without losing the radiant tone, without really entering the ‘Kouros’ dimension, just hinting at it under that nice disguise of a sporty fern. I find it beautiful, very well made, with excellent performance; perhaps it’s the flanker I like most because it gives that nineties look that I always appreciate. Kouros with Gucci Nobile, or, as they say there, with Drakkar Noir, on a holiday trip to the Mediterranean. Of course, if the original Kouros doesn’t suit you, this hardly will. I think it’s more of a gift for perfume fans than an alternative. In reality, it’s a version of the same song, but played on the beach, with friends, beers, bongos, and lots of joy.
It’s a fresher, more citrusy, and less potent version of the legendary YSL fragrance, famous for its unmistakable aroma and domineering personality. Ideal for those who find the original version too intrusive but want to enjoy a scent with extraordinary olfactory evolution. Perfectly wearable during the hottest months.
Hello everyone. My bottles were from a clearance sale; I bought them for the price because the name started with Kouros. The resemblance is undeniable, as mentioned below—if you don’t like the original Kouros, you’ll hardly like this one. But keeping the root, Fraicheur is much kinder (not weak). I tried one in February with temperatures up to 25 degrees and the sensation was superb. Its potency is high, and the longevity on skin is too, confirmed even more by my wife on clothes. It’s a fresh (not soft) aroma that doesn’t overwhelm; you notice it as it passes, you feel the pineapple but without it being cloying. I think its character is clearly summery, created for the heat. One gripe: I see it as very limited even for summer; I don’t see it for formal or semi-formal situations. It smells like a pool party, at the beach bar, with friends, or a barbecue; I perceive it as party-ready, with shorts and a nice t-shirt, ready for a beach club. It’s just my opinion (perhaps I’ve been out too little). They say they stopped manufacturing it, and given current prices, there are more sensible options, except for those of us who love these rarities and private enjoyment; in that case, I highly recommend diluting the sensibility in a bottle of the original Kouros and making it look like an accident. Best wishes to perfume lovers.
I have a nearly full 100ml bottle of this gem. It’s a super masculine, clean fragrance, a ‘Fresh’ version of the original beast, but beware: do not be fooled, its performance outshines any perfume on the market today. The standout note is the orange blossom. Ideal for summer: bermudas and a white shirt. Something fresh and classy. As far as I know, it’s hard to get, so I feel lucky. If you like vintage scents, enjoy Kouros but find it too intense, try this Fraicheur. Cheers.
I currently have a 100ml bottle almost full of this gem. It’s a super masculine and clean fragrance, a ‘Fresh’ version of the original beast, but BEWARE! don’t let yourselves be fooled; it has a potency that outdoes any modern Parfum or EDP. The notes that stand out most are the bergamot. I see it as ideal for summer: bermudas, white shirt, something fresh and classy. As far as I know, it’s hard to get nowadays, so I feel very lucky. If you like vintage scents or enjoy Kouros but find it too much, try this Fraicheur. Cheers!
Absolutely delicious. I’d been hunting for an acceptable deal to get some of this prized liquid for years. Impossible to find and almost always at outrageous prices. It performs well; it’s a floral Kouros thanks to the orange blossom with a citrus lightness but keeping the classic DNA. It’s cleaner and more pleasant; if I had a fragrance for life in summer, it would be this. It doesn’t smell like the Eau de Sport or the Cologne Sport, though it’s closer to the latter and more potent. Fraîcheur. 10/10
Absolutely delicious! I’d been hunting for a decent deal on this precious, sought-after liquid for years—it’s impossible to find and usually costs a fortune. The performance is outstanding: it’s a floral Kouros (thanks to the bergamot) with citrus freshness but retains the DNA of the classic. It smells cleaner and more pleasant; if I had to choose a summer fragrance for life, it would be THIS. It doesn’t smell like the Eau de Sport or the Cologne Sport, though it’s closer to the latter and packs a punchier freshness. 10/10
