  • Starts quite bitter, with those aldehydes and a hint of mandarin in the background. At first, it’s striking and won’t appeal to everyone, but give it time to settle; the wait is worth it. Gradually, the bitterness fades, giving way to something sweet and floral with a balsamic touch. The heart is where it truly shines: a very soft honey, neither animalic nor cloying, blended with flowers that are noticeable but not distinct. I detect no myrrh whatsoever, in any phase, at least not as I know it. The heart remains consistent until the end, with no notable changes. It’s not the kind of perfume that shouts its presence, so I wouldn’t recommend it for crowded outdoor parties, but it works wonderfully in enclosed, intimate settings. The longevity is good, though it becomes more subdued towards the end. It seems ideal for cold or mild weather, not for intense heat. The scent is very unisex, contrary to what I expected. In summary, Serge Lutens’ Myrrhe is a superb perfume with a unique aroma I hadn’t tried before, creating a pleasant impression both on the wearer and those around them. The only drawback is the opening, which can scare people away initially and make them miss the wonderful scent that follows. I like that opening because it adds personality, and I think the evolution is very well crafted. The only negatives are its exorbitant price and its poor projection.
