Descripción

Avon Magnolia en Fleurs is a musky floral woody fragrance for women. Launched in 2020, this composition was created by perfumer Maurice Roucel. Its olfactive structure unfolds with top notes of bergamot and pink pepper; a floral heart formed by magnolia, jasmine and gardenia; and a warm, persistent base of musk, moss and sandalwood.

  • Not bad, not so much for what it offers, which is already well-established, but as a very decent option today without leaning on vintage or second-hand vibes, for those frozen late-eighties green florals. I wouldn’t recommend it blindly because it has a distinctly old-fashioned character. It smells exactly like those crisp, cold green flowers, with hints of bleach and lily-of-the-valley that so many ordinary women wore in the eighties. A little reminiscent of Jacomo Silences and Pierre Balmain’s Vent Vert, but much more caustic and cold, less mossy; one could almost say it’s a clone of Yves Rocher’s Nature. I believe Roucel doesn’t know how to make bad perfumes, and this is an example of a functional, romantic, and dynamic fragrance created with women who want nothing to do with current trends in mind. Wearing it is like opening the pages of a French Elle from 1993, when dark, gothic, or disruptive concepts hadn’t yet reached popular fashion. It starts intense with a typical frozen, bacon-like green note found in these formulas, with a lily-of-the-valley aftertaste, though a milky magnolia accord makes it slightly softer. Truthfully, the composition varies little: there’s a lot of gardenia, which in my opinion is superfluous given its sharper, more insidious character compared to the magnolia, which is simply a divine flower, yet less magnolia than the name suggests, backed by white musk and leathery bergamot that give it a frozen citrus character with typical lily-of-the-valley reminiscences for this family. It only mutates once, revealing a patchouli moss that doesn’t quite stand out on its own but does grant the whole a dustier, drier texture than the initial blast of green bleach. An excellent choice for women who detest gourmands and over-the-top scents but also don’t want to carry a plain citrus water that stops smelling after half an hour. If you like Nature or Desir de Nature by Rocher, Jacomo Silences, or even Kenzo Parfum d’Été and the legion of cheap brand impersonators with nineties bathroom air freshener textures, it’s rare this won’t appeal to you. Decent longevity and trail.
