In Porto, at ‘A Vida Portuguesa’, I picked up this 1930s fragrance and now I regret not bringing the other two with their red and grey boxes. This ‘Real Moss Classic’ brought back memories of eating, drinking, and strolling along the river. I wore it on my first night here and let myself be swept away by its warm, relaxing atmosphere—a scent from another time, unhurried, made with care, and fully immersed in the moment. It’s a very dry, aromatic cologne, opening with earthy patchouli and green notes that impart a refreshing sense of cleanliness, like a refined gentleman’s soap: addictive and voluminous. The moss and vetiver stand out at first before softening without losing that natural, handcrafted touch. You feel clean, elegant, and thoroughly masculine. It’s fantastic, and I’m surprised it isn’t better known. As a cologne, its projection and longevity are good. ‘Real Moss’ is the smell of a Porto alleyway, a night view of the river, and a quick cigarette before heading back to the tavern. Rating: 10/10
