  • It’s taken its place back in my collection. In my teens, it was my ‘clean’ scent (soap), easy to wear. It’s not luxury-priced but worth it. Some might consider comparing it to Chanel No. 5 heresy, but I prefer Jovan Musk as it’s less sweet. Both convey cleanliness.

  • My mother’s timeless classics: Shalimar, Chanel No. 5, and Jovan Musk. To me, Jovan Musk smells like her in her youth, with flared jeans and a 1970s jumper. It’s sexy, earthy, and musky. It has an aldehydic facet that softens everything, as if ylang-ylang were dancing behind the scenes with them.

Super soft and rich scent, perfect for nurses or anyone seeking something light yet long-lasting. The oil version lingers on the skin even after a shower!

Fantastic! It smells clean, soapy, and warm. It has good longevity and trail for such an economical cologne.

  • I love it… The first time I smelled it was at a schoolmate who wore it in abundance and it remained a beautiful scent, without being overpowering or annoying. She never wanted to tell me the name (I understand, perhaps she wanted to be unique), but I saw some gold stripes and an orange background and set about finding it. Sadly, at that time, although it was cheap, I was a student with no money except for essentials, and perfumes were essential but not within my budget. So it was left in the oblivion of my memories, but not my olfactory memory. Years later, I came across this at a supermarket. With nostalgia, I took it and ‘dusted’ a little on my wrist, just to remember. And then… there it was, again. Thus, clean, light, simple, yet becoming present. It didn’t produce memories for me, but sensations. With just closing my eyes, it enveloped me without fuss, without madness. We met again and now we won’t separate; we’ve returned home together. Forgive this dramatic lapse, but the meeting between Jovan Musk and me wasn’t between a perfume and a woman; it was like when you want to be with someone but can’t, and then something happens and you find them, merging in an embrace with that special someone. Its clean and soft scent I love for after a bath, on hot summer nights; falling asleep with it is a delight. Also in summer, when the heat becomes suffocating on public transport, feeling it caress my face to calm my desperation makes me feel freshly bathed and fresh, and makes the wait for arrival less overwhelming. What can I say about when my little one hugs me and says ‘mmmh mummy, you smell so yummy! you smell like water’? Without a doubt, it’s a perfume that never goes out of style, suits any age, lasts a long time, and leaves a delicate and very pleasant trail. On my skin it doesn’t change much and I don’t need to apply it more than once; once is enough. And the best part: as it’s not a trendy perfume, few people use it, so you can feel unique, fresh, clean, and different.

  • I love it… A colleague once wore it in abundance and it was beautiful without being overpowering. I searched for years without money and it faded into oblivion, yet not from my memory. Today I found it in the supermarket and upon applying it, there it was! Clean, light, simple yet present. No fuss, we found each other again. It’s perfect for after a bath, summer evenings, or to soothe the heat on public transport. My daughter says it smells like water. It never goes out of style, lasts a long time, and one application is enough. You feel unique.

Anggy, your review has moved me. It happened to me too, but with Loulou by Cacharel. The reunion with a desired fragrance from the past, which we couldn’t get and which brings back good memories, is magical.

  • My mum is married to this fragrance. Wherever she goes, people ask what she’s wearing. It’s a scent that has been in my family. My mother used to spray it on me and my sister (and we got along for eight years). It suits every age, every moment, and every budget. It’s unique. Now I’m looking for a perfume that identifies me, because this is my mother’s scent.

Another classic: very pretty, elegant, and at a fantastic price, yet undervalued. Jovan Musk has a simple but well-balanced and achieved composition. It doesn’t smell like a cheap or ordinary perfume; it’s economical but hasn’t been given its due worth. It’s misunderstood. It’s intense and feminine; few young people today would appreciate it, but those who find its beauty are lucky. It smells of very musky white flowers with a touch of lemon, creamy and clean once it settles. Whoever wears it, you notice. It’s linear yet versatile, suits any occasion. Nowadays, its trail and longevity are soft. A great round of applause for this classic.

Another lovely classic, elegant and incredibly cheap. Jovan Musk is simple but well-executed; it doesn’t smell cheap. It’s economical but underappreciated. It smells of musky white flowers with a hint of lemon and creaminess; as it dries down, it smells clean. It’s linear but versatile, suitable for any time of day. Its trail and longevity are gentle. Great applause!

Jovan Musk smells like maternal love, as if the musk cradles the jasmine and neroli. It’s comforting when you need a breather. Soft yet present, it lasts about six hours. For me, it’s the best affordable fragrance I’ve tried.

Jovan Musk smells of maternal love, as if the musk cradles the jasmine and neroli. It’s comforting when you need a breather. Soft yet noticeable. Fixation of about six hours. In my opinion, it’s the best budget fragrance I’ve tried.

  • I bought it during my teenage years for the low price and adored it. At first, it smells strong, but over time it transforms into a pleasant, musky, and amber scent. I used it daily and bought it whenever I could. Now, every time I smell it, I remember that complicated yet beautiful era, full of dreams. It’s an ageless classic. Although I now prefer floral-fruity scents, I still like this one just as much as before. It doesn’t seem sweet; rather, it feels elegant. I will definitely buy it again.

  • I bought it in my teens for the low cost and adored it. At first, it was strong, but by the end of the day, a musky and amber scent remained. I wore it daily and bought it whenever I could. Now it reminds me of that complicated yet beautiful time. Although I now prefer florals, I still like this one equally. It’s not sweet; it’s elegant. I will buy it again.

  • Economical, simple, and warm aroma. It’s a classic that brings memories to almost everyone. For me, it takes me back to childhood. I have the oil version with a soft trail and moderate longevity. I like it on its own or as a base for other perfumes. It’s worth it. Scent 6/10, Longevity 6/10, Trail 6/10, Value for money 8/10, Versatility 9/10, Packaging 5/10. Would I buy again? Yes.

  • Smells cheap but it’s a classic: warm and simple. It brings memories to almost anyone; to me, my childhood. I have the oil version, with a soft trail and medium longevity. Ideal on its own or as a musky base for other perfumes. Worth it. Scent 6/10, longevity 6/10, trail 6/10, value for money 8/10, versatility 9/10, packaging 5/10. Would I buy it again? Yes.

  • But isn’t this the Margaret Astor Musk? It doesn’t appear on Fragrantica. I suppose it’s been discontinued.

  • This perfume has been on sale for decades. Its survival is due to its price suitable for all. I remember its image in my adolescence: a young girl almost without makeup, fresh appearance. It was sold as a seduction perfume, female pheromones, nature attracting. I would have liked to use it then and didn’t, so I bought it now… and no. The bottle is very simple, uglier than in the Fragrantica photo: simple clear glass with the name and a metal cap, similar to Revlon’s Charlie. As soon as you apply it, it smells of alcohol, then synthetic, like hair lacquer. Then the soapy scent appears, like bath gel or scented cream. It’s not that you’re perfumed, it seems you had a good shower with all its trimmings. Perhaps that was the advertising idea, but it doesn’t work for me in this stage of my life, I don’t feel good with it. Besides, it hardly lasts on the skin; a bit more on clothes, but not much.

  • Simple but very effective musk composition. Smells like detergent soap and clean sheets. There are niche perfumes like this, with a more refined opening, but they end up just like Jovan. Others complicate everything and lose the cleanliness as they dry out, becoming heavy and stale to justify the price. Here it is simply a clean ambient aroma. I, as a man, use it to mist sheets, pillows and freshly made beds. If you don’t say anything, they’ll say: clean clothes! But on skin it’s the same! I’ve tried many niche musks that don’t approach the concept as closely as this. Of course, it depends on whether you like it; it’s not shampoo or a five-star Parisian hotel bar soap. It’s clean, normal family sheet, not a millionaire’s bed aromatised with flowers until they stink and snore while watching TV. I don’t know if to identify it as a perfume, it can pass as the natural aroma of detergent cleaning. I like it to mist on the bed or wear a freshly laundered t-shirt. Better musk than most designers. After a while, in the office or on the street, it’s hard to identify, but in the car or on the bed you note that the clean scent lasts hours and gets ‘enriched’ with your own scent.

  • Rich aroma, smells just like those scented talcs. Very similar to Avon’s Timeless, in case you’re looking for a dupe. Personally, I recommend it for adult women.

  • Pilar_Ternera

Elegant, timeless and totally unisex. The classic smell of clean clothes, as they rightly say. Ideal for smelling good without pretensions, without giving anyone a headache or bothering anyone. It’s the concept of ‘clean clothes’ that they sell dear in niche today, but it emerged 50 years ago. Why does it last so long on the market? Not because it’s cheap, which it is, but because it’s good.

Jovan Musk oil. I never had many expectations, but what a delightful surprise. I’m fascinated by it, I love it on its own and combined (it gives a special touch to other perfumes). It’s affordable, although prices have risen a lot nowadays. It had an incredible boom from the 70s to the 90s; my oil seems to be from the early 90s. Nowadays, musks are in fashion and this doesn’t ask for anything from niche brands. It’s a white musk par excellence, celestial, smelling of enhanced skin, transforming your aroma into something sweet, clean, sumptuous and slightly powdery, outrageously sexy. You can detect neroli, orange blossom, a bit of jasmine, lots of white musk bathed in tamed aldehydes that give warmth and tidiness. If you use it as a base for any perfume, it’s magic: it potentiates it and gives it a divine touch. I think it’s totally unisex. Although it seems soft, it lasts about 8 hours on the skin, very discreet but always with you. If you see it, don’t let it pass, it’s a must-have for all terrains.

  • whisper_of_love

My grandmother’s perfume. Every time I smell it, I’m transported back to my childhood visiting her and my grandfather. At first, it’s strong, an intense musk that shows all its development, though it fades a bit over time. Then the white flowers emerge, giving a sense of tidiness. I sense the bergamot with floral, herbal, and even resinous nuances, more than citrus. If you use too much, it can become cloying.

  • nataliedrm

Pure aroma of cleanliness and soft talc, just as if you’ve just bathed with only cream and skin. It’s so crisp you don’t need to add anything else. Timeless, usable all day, all year round, and even unisex. You don’t need 200 notes to smell good; sometimes the best thing is to recall the beautiful perfumes of the 90s. You don’t need to splash out on big brands to smell lovely. My mother used it in her youth and I only knew of it years later; I regret not trying it sooner, it’s incredible.

  • rodrigo1995

Total cleanliness. I imagine many niche brands try to replicate this but end up messing it up with snob notes to sell it dear to the undecided. Jovan Musk beats them all: it’s clean, with jasmine and neroli making it soapy in a tender way, reminiscent of hotel bar soap. It evokes freshly sun-dried laundry with pretty white flowers. It’s beautiful, I love spraying it on my neck and it doesn’t overwhelm anyone. It’s a classic for diverse audiences. My only complaint is that it doesn’t last long, which is odd because my skin holds perfume well well. I applied a lot and it still doesn’t last. I read they use it in layers, but I just want to smell like Jovan Musk and nothing else. Affordable price, you find it in pharmacies and supermarkets. They have travel sizes, bless them for still existing. Fragrantica says the oil works better; I’ll have to try that. My bottle is less than a month old, perhaps I should let it mature. I recommend using it at home for sleeping: clean dreams, hehe.

  • Smells like Chanel No. 5’s younger, softer sister. It’s my perfect sanctuary when I want to escape sweet, heavy scents; even though it’s cheap, ten sprays will gently accompany you for hours. Delicate, feminine and lovely, ideal for home or going out. A classic I’ve loved since forever.
