  The Oud from Spirit of Dubai is a woody oriental fragrance with natural Indian oud oil. The opening is explosive and challenging; instantly you detect the power and mystique of this opulent and elegant note, yet rough and characterful. The first hours are very woody, sharp and animalic; it will be the only thing you perceive in the opening, as it is the axis of the composition. However, if you analyse it thoroughly, you will notice a slight fresh, floral and fruity aroma wrapped in the oud, as if a beam of light were piercing through dense smoke. After 2 or 3 hours, the oud loses intensity and the abrasive nuances disappear, leaving a very elegant and fine wood. Here, pineapple, flowers and citrus nuances emerge with more force, though without much presence. It is an intense and complex perfume that will not please everyone, but if you understand the beauty of natural oud, you will love it. Very good longevity, over 14 hours, with intense projection for the first 6.

  Literally smells like horse shit. Interesting fragrance, but it smells like that. You will only like it if you love heavy ouds.

  Magnificent composition from a fine student of Roja; it shares with its master the use of top-quality ingredients and a subtlety hard to distinguish. The opening is very woody, with an oud that is not animalic but super elegant. That is the adjective: elegance. An oud with other dry woods like cedar that during the first ten minutes create a majestic and regal aroma. That alone would suffice for a serious fragrance, but this one changes: the dry oud softens and clear notes emerge, clean florals and a subtle vanilla that was hidden in the opening and appears in the dry down with delicacy, transforming a regal scent into something approachable and pleasant without losing class. It is not sweet or gourmand, it is changeable and surprising. For me, it is very masculine at the start and totally unisex in the dry down; it could be winterly at first and spring-like afterwards. It is among the cream of the crop of ouds. Excellent longevity and moderate-to-good projection in the dry down. Ideal for formal situations because it never loses elegance.

  If anyone compares this to Croxato Oud, they simply haven’t tried either. It’s shameful that anyone can vote and make such absurd comparisons. The Oud from Spirits of Dubai is a masterpiece: deep, elegant, versatile wood of top quality. To those who smell horse shit… do me a favour, mate, you clearly don’t understand anything.
