A Powdery Aldehydic Floral with Vintage Polish

Пируэт (Pirouette) by Новая Заря (The New Dawn) is a floral women's fragrance that dates from the 1960s.

The construction moves from a fresh aldehydic lift into a floral centre before settling into a mellow base of musk, woods and amber, with rose appearing early and at its core.

At the opening, aldehydes meet bergamot, sage and rose. The bergamot gives a citrus brightness, tempered by the dry, herbal greenness of sage.

The centre brings together iris, vetiver and rose. Iris lends a soft, powdery veil, while vetiver contributes an earthy green restraint.

The drydown combines musk, patchouli, sandalwood and amber. It feels cosy and subdued, woody with a faint balsamic glow that lets the florals linger.

In character it is aldehydic, musky and powdery, with aromatic, woody, citrus and fresh aspects alongside earthy, iris-led and fresh-spicy touches.

Rated 3.9 out of 5 across 10 ratings, it holds modest favour amongst devotees of classical styles.

It will suit those who favour traditional aldehydic florals, neat powdery finishes and an understated, retro elegance.

Pirouette offers an orderly glimpse of sixties floral design: bright at first, gentle thereafter. Choose it for period charm rather than contemporary impact.
