  At first, it seems like a simple, well-balanced fresh scent, with citrus more like bergamot and spicy notes, reminiscent of nineties perfumes. Then it suddenly shifts: it starts as a summer walk by the sea, but later turns dark and claustrophobic, as if diving into the water and sinking to the seabed. The citrus and spices fade into the background while the ambergris, with its animalic touch, takes control. I suppose it’s synthetic, like ambroxan, which is why it sometimes smells like a less aggressive, less chemical Sauvage. The plunge lasts about three hours before fading into a medium-sweet scent that’s only noticeable when brushing against the skin. Perhaps I’ll buy it on sale, but I think it’s better to enjoy the fun of trying it than to wear it.

  The notes don’t quite work for me: I detect bergamot, pepper, and a strong violet leaf scent.

  The fragrance is very well made and addictive, but it falls short on longevity and projection; it lasts longer on clothes. Still, I recommend it.
