Before I could afford Dior, Chanel, or Guerlain, I bought cheap perfumes based purely on how they smelled. Playboy VIP for him reminded me of Britney’s Fantasy, but tailored for men; though a woman could wear it too. It has a very prominent white chocolate note (my absolute favourite), making it super creamy, with tonka bean, rum, red apple, lavender, and sandalwood. This is the old version, complete with its box and deodorant; nowadays it comes individually in a clear bottle. It lasts 4/5 hours and leaves a trail. I use it in winter, at night after a shower; its sweetness is deeply relaxing. It’s economical, around 6€/100ml on sites like Druni, although I picked up the old version at a local chemist. It lasts longer than you’d expect for something so short-lived.

Back in my teens, around 2014/15, I wore this like crazy and it smelled divine; every girl told me so, and honestly, I used to bathe in it. It was incredibly sensual. Now that I’ve seen the notes, I understand: sweet, boozy, with a vanilla touch (perhaps from white chocolate, even if it’s not declared). I believe this fragrance, along with other Playboy scents like the NY one, shaped my olfactory DNA. Today, I adore musky, gourmand, woody, spicy, and sometimes fruity notes. I wish they still sold it; I was utterly fascinated by it. Occasionally, when I wear the Bad Boy Elixir by Carolina Herrera, I catch a similar scent that brings back memories.

It’s a very sweet fragrance; unlike other Playboys or ones in the same price range, it doesn’t smell artificial at all, which surprised me quite a bit. I didn’t think I’d like it so much, despite the fact that the reissue bottle lacks appeal. White chocolate dominates, with rum, tonka bean, apple, sarsaparilla (which I adore), and lavender in the background. It’s ideal for cold climates, suits informal wear, though it wouldn’t go amiss with semi-formal attire. It lasts 6 to 8 hours with a moderate trail. I bought it in Mexico for under 10 dollars and they even gave me a deodorant.

  4. Very sweet; unlike other Playboys or those at the same price, it doesn’t smell artificial. I was so surprised that I didn’t think I’d like it so much, despite the refilled bottle having no appeal. White chocolate predominates; in the background, I note rum, tonka bean, apple, sarsaparilla (which I love), and lavender. I didn’t notice the others. Ideal for cold climates and informal occasions, though it would suit semi-formal too. It lasts 6 to 8 hours with a moderate trail. In Mexico, it costs between $10 and $25; I bought it for under $10 with a free deodorant gift.

  5. It has a very pleasant, sweet but not cloying, modern aroma. The note that dominates for me is white chocolate, with vanilla in the background. It was a blind buy; the only thing I dislike is that its longevity is poor—it lasts about two hours, and after that, it’s almost imperceptible, with a very weak trail. It’s an excellent scent, a pity it’s of such low quality. I would have liked it to last longer and would happily pay more for it. But in the end, I have it now, and I think I’ll use it for the gym, as it lasts just long enough for my time there.

  6. I wanted to try it for its low cost and I’m satisfied. I read the reviews and they convinced me as I was looking for something sweet… Playboy Vip has it. It definitely smells of white chocolate, though I didn’t notice it at first. After 15 minutes, it felt perfect and intense. By the hour, I also noticed the juicy apples. The longevity and trail are moderate. I agree with @Kirtash; it seems to be the male version of Britney’s Fantasy at a very low price. I’d give it 8/10.

  7. I had to try it to see if it was worth the price, and honestly, I loved it. I was looking for something sweet, and Playboy Vip delivers; it smells of white chocolate. Although I didn’t notice it at first, after 15 minutes it was hitting me hard. By an hour in, you can also detect juicy apples. The longevity is moderate, as is the trail. I agree with @Kirtash; I think it’s the male version of Fantasy, and for the price, there’s no competition. I’d give it an 8/10.

  8. Pleasant, sweet yet not cloying, and modern. What I love most is the white chocolate with a vanilla base. I bought it blindly; the only downside is it lasts very little, about two hours, after which it’s almost unnoticeable and the trail is poor. It’s a great scent, a pity the quality is low; I’d have loved it to last longer and would have paid more for it. Anyway, I have it now and will use it for the gym (it lasts just the two hours I spend there).

It’s an economical cologne, typical for teenagers or young lads (like all the Playboy ones). Within the brand, it offers an interesting sweetness, although at times it gets cloying, but it’s decent. I think it’s a valid option to try out for the price, but you need to be clear about what you’re getting with the Playboys.

I’m a woman and to be honest, I like it 😅. It smells slightly musky on my skin, has good longevity and projection. I never thought such an affordable scent could smell like a luxury perfume; I absolutely love it. It’s a great everyday fragrance, lasts well, and all my friends enjoy it too.

A male version of Britney’s Fantasy at a much lower price. Very sweet and creamy; if they covered my eyes, I’d believe it was for a woman. Only if you like sweet scents. The white chocolate is noticeable and intense, reinforced by apple and rum.

It lasted incredibly long; quite a surprise when I bought it. I didn’t expect Playboy to have something like this. Very original, with the white chocolate note lingering throughout, and I also detected vanilla (probably tonka bean).

Exquisite! Even my cousin gave me compliments, and my brothers, my dad, my aunt, and my mum said it smelled like food—that it was exquisite and edible. I love it; I’ve found the scent that defines me.

Cloying. It smells very alcoholic to me, like a bonbon with liquor inside. It seems too feminine to me. It will end up as an air freshener or in the bin. It’s not worth it, even at 5 euros.

Cheap, pleasant, and lasts about 5 hours, which isn’t bad for 7 euros. The only thing I can criticise is that it stays close to the skin. For everything else, highly recommended.

  18. Undoubtedly a unisex fragrance. Nice aroma, though the longevity is short. For those starting out with gourmand scents without spending much, it’s an excellent option.

Smells like white chocolate with a strong alcohol note, very sweet and cloying… perhaps not bad for a teenager. Scent: 6, trail: 5, longevity: 5.
