  • It pleasantly surprised me; I didn’t expect so much from the name. As a winter fragrance, it’s very welcome. It has a certain resemblance to Lagerfeld’s Kapsule Woody, with a less pronounced plum note. It’s intense yet pleasant and more woody. The longevity is moderate but acceptable. I like it from the initial spray through to dry down, although it doesn’t evolve much. Edit: one of the best ouds at a very good price. It has become a favourite. I recommend it to those tired of the pink-oud combo: here is something different and spectacular, an oud with a capital O that you always want to wear.

  • I remember the Avon advert with the lady in the chalet and Dianne Wiest in ‘Edward Scissorhands’ wearing her mauve Chanel; I always saw Avon as a mid-range brand for middle-class Americans. My childhood memories of those floral scents were unpleasant, just as my view of Chanel No. 5 as a fragrance for haughty matrons. But ‘Never too late if fortune is kind’. This PREMIERE LUXE OUD is exquisite and ephemeral incense, like a beautiful butterfly with a short life. The name is misleading: there is no oud, it’s all pristine, clean, luminous incense with hints of thyme and rosemary, nothing dense or smoky. The drawback is its low sillage and mediocre performance; even hyper-dosed, it’s not very projecting. A pity for such a refined and unexpected aroma in Avon. When they call again, I’ll answer with the brightest smile.

Good value for money. It needs an hour to develop; initially it’s heavy, then it turns sweet and woody, with a slight medicinal note reminiscent of M7 but less sophisticated. It doesn’t last long, around five to six hours, but for the price, it’s acceptable. I’d give it an 8/10.

  • For under €25 you get a full woody scent, similar to the discontinued Gucci Pour Homme. It smells of old wood, pine resin, and incense—that kind that makes you feel like you’re trailing behind a Good Friday procession. A treat for people with character. It can be overwhelming in summer, but in winter or at night, you’ll be the most elegant person in the room.

It bears a strong resemblance to Franck Olivier’s Oud Touch, yet it is more diluted and discreet. It’s savoury without being overpowering, with a subtle raspberry sweetness. On my skin it lasted three hours; with a second application, it reached five. Highly recommended, affordable, and my bottle is Polish-made (75ml for €22 with shipping).
