  It feels as if it’s inside and outside at once. I was captivated by that cut crystal bottle, reminiscent of the sun in desert films. The etchings resemble a star seen through the sand, marking the horizon with whimsical, sublime shapes—or perhaps a mirage. Yves Saint Laurent learned much from his travels to Africa for Saharienne. Inside the bottle, he captured the essence of the women of the Sahara and Morocco, achieving an alchemy between desert aromas and the scent of the region. It is my favourite YSL for hot nights: I smell clean and fresh thanks to the bergamot, mandarin, Egyptian bitter orange blossom, petit grain with its calming properties, and a light touch of ginger and pink pepper. It’s madness to wear it in autumn at 28 degrees near Cuba. I put it on to sleep, comforted by the neroli and bergamot to ease tensions, and the pink pepper as a spiritual protector of my dreams. Thank you, YSL, for bringing a desert night to the bed and for this fresh, wise legacy.

  I’ve just bought this beautiful perfume to use this summer. It’s fresh an exquisite combination of citrus flowers and ginger in just the right measure. Longevity isn’t huge but it’s fine; in summer we bathe more often up to twice a day so it easily lasts about six hours on the skin. It’s very similar to the Eau de Givenchy especially regarding the citrus notes. I also bought this for summer; however the Givenchy lasts longer on my skin.

  I’ve just bought this perfume for this summer. It’s fresh, an exquisite blend of citrus, florals and ginger in just the right measure. The longevity isn’t huge, but it’s adequate; in summer one showers more frequently, up to twice a day, so it easily lasts about six hours on the skin. It’s very similar to the Eau de Givenchy, especially regarding the citrus notes. I also bought that for summer, but the Givenchy lasts longer on my skin.

  A delicious ginger, feminine, dense and slightly powdery. In the development, it awakens a floral and spicy note with a touch of exotic sophistication. On the opening, I notice less alcohol than the Escales, and its proposal seems more fun, perhaps not so classic. My mother wore it today and I found it super pleasant and lovely, despite being quite simple. It has quite good performance, according to her. It’s for daytime use and warm seasons. A scent without great pretensions, to avoid overcomplicating things, but it works. I love the bottle. 7.75/10.

The freshness of the citrus and its spicy blend of pink pepper and ginger give it a different touch and wake me up. By night I can still smell it; the airy, fresh morning trail leaves a very soft talc-like scent, almost like desert sand dust.

At night I can still smell it and the airy fresh morning scent leaves a very soft talc-like trail almost like desert sand dust.

  I fell in love with this perfume in a hotel in Rome. I arrived at night, exhausted and surrounded by a mix of car exhaust and restaurant smells. I went up to my room and a tourist’s perfume hypnotised me. It was a fresh, citrusy and very sophisticated scent; it was evident they had been out all night and the scent arrived perfectly. When I got to Spain I didn’t stop until I found it: it was Saharienne and I lasted 0.01 seconds before buying it. Contrary to other opinions, the longevity on me is inexhaustible, too much… I even came to hate it for this. What initially seemed fresh turned into a nightmare of bitter citrus. I am not alone; I have seen reviews from people who felt the longevity and sillage were enormous.

  Like with Mitsouko, I tried this in the summer. The opening is brilliant – fresh, refreshing and summery – but after just twenty minutes I could only detect lemon. I enjoy citrus, but in this case it was far too dominant; there were no white florals, no pepper or ginger, just lemon. A bit disappointing, to be honest. It doesn’t remind me of Azahar by Adolfo Domínguez; in that one I can definitely detect lots of orange blossom and neroli. That said, I’ll give it another try.

  As usual at this time of year I’m looking for something fresh to replace my usual Eau de Rochas for summer. Today I tried Saharienne; it’s not bad despite its weak trail and short longevity on my skin. I detect ginger lemon blackcurrant galbanum and pepper. The opening is fresh then it warms up; it certainly smells like summer so I think it’s more suitable for spring and autumn than for the heat of summer. After trying it with Azahar I ran to buy my Eau de Rochas 🙂

  As usual around this time of year, I’m testing fresh fragrances to replace my usual Eau de Rochas for the summer. Today it was Saharienne’s turn and it’s not bad, despite the weak trail and short longevity on my skin. I can detect ginger, lemon, cassia, galbanum and pepper. The opening is fresh and it quickly becomes warmer; it certainly smells summery, but I feel it’s more suited to spring and autumn than the height of summer. After testing this and Azahar, I rushed out to buy my Eau de Rochas 🙂

  I agree with Selene: ‘Very similar to Dior’s Portofino, and I prefer the Dior version’. To my nose, the lemon, petit grain, cassia and floral notes stand out… it’s fresh, elegant and nothing more. In this ‘citric aromatic’ style, I feel other brands like Dior and Hermès have more to offer; however, it is a good fragrance.

  A very citrusy and fresh scent, reminding me a little of Jean Paul Gaultier’s La fleur du mal and Adolfo Domínguez’s Azahar. Perfect for mild days, more suited to daytime than evening.

  Very similar to Dior’s Portofino and I prefer the Dior version, but those who enjoy soft, clean and fresh scents will love it. As for me, I don’t get along well with Yves Saint Laurent.
