  • A new addition to the community. The Spanish cosmetic giant hasn’t been slow to present us with another member of Jean-Paul Gaultier’s most avant-garde saga. It’s not as sweet or irreverent as the EDT, nor as dry and dark as Le Parfum. Scandal Pour Homme Intense seems to be the most refined and well-groomed offspring of all. Although it may evoke memories of the original at times, the DNA is merely testimonial, especially thanks to the fragrant and mentholated flow of clary sage which is noticeable from the first spray. As it dries, you instantly discover the aromatic core: a base of vetiver and a worked leather in its facet most similar to medicinal syrup, very present in recent perfumes like Bad Boy Elixir or VIP Black NY Rodeo by Carolina Herrera, though not as woody and rough as those. In the heart phase, the vetiver imparts a vigorous and clean core with green, soapy, and unexpectedly floral notes, making it one of the most interesting launches of the season. Perhaps the original is the most potent and carefree, but this Intense version offers more versatility and isn’t limited to festive environments only. It’s suggestive, ambivalent, even unisex, more sophisticated than the previous ones, very suitable as a signature scent without losing the performance of its predecessors. The art-déco tweaks of vertical lines on the new smoked glass bottle give it a touch of distinction.

This is for user Triton who commented earlier. Scandal has three brothers, but with the new one we are four. They forgot to mention Scandal Absolu, which came out in 2024.

It seems leather is in fashion in 2025. If you fancy trying it, have a look at Bad Boy Elixir and Boss Absolu. 🤙

  • A fresh opening that transitions into a subtle, clean leather. It lasts over 16 hours and even after a shower, it’s still close to the skin. It isn’t as sensual as the Le Parfum, but it’s excellent for autumn and winter.

  • Fresh opening, then it settles into a subtle, clean leather that lasts over 16 hours and is still detectable fresh off the shower afterwards. It’s not as sensual as the Le Parfum, but it’s excellent for autumn and winter.

  • A scent very similar to its predecessors… I have the same experience as with the Kenzo Homme line; minimal differences and just sold to me. It’s a DNA that I personally don’t like, that said, they perform very well… I was expecting something else given the leather note, but it’s more of the same.

  • I like this saga and this one fits right in. As already mentioned, it recalls the Scandal DNA but with a darker, slightly herbal twist. It’s not mature at all. Ideal for dates and parties. It’s not shouty; it strikes a balance between sweet and playful with sophisticated and orderly. I could say elegant, but it doesn’t quite reach that point because it still retains that youthful spark. Lasts and projects massively. If this were under a niche brand, or even signed by Francis Kurkdjian, it would skyrocket exponentially and the hype would have been immense. My top list would be: 1) Scandal Pour Homme EDT 2) Scandal Pour Homme Intense 3) Scandal Pour Homme Le Parfum 4) Scandal Pour Homme Absolu.

  • I absolutely love this collection, and this one fits perfectly. As others have noted, it retains the Scandal DNA but with a darker, herbal twist. It’s not mature at all; it’s ideal for dates and parties. It’s not loud, striking a perfect balance between sweet and playful on one hand, and sophisticated and orderly on the other. I could call it elegant, but it doesn’t quite reach that level because it still retains that youthful spark. It lasts and projects incredibly well. Under a niche brand or signed by Francis Kurkdjian, this would have soared exponentially with massive hype. My top picks are: 1) Scandal Pour Homme EDT, 2) Scandal Pour Homme Intense, 3) Scandal Pour Homme Le Parfum, 4) Scandal Pour Homme Absolu.

  • An interesting version of Scandal, deeper and rounder, though with the same DNA as the others. It’s a caramelised sweet but more energetic, woody, spiced, bright, with fresh touches and more potent. Note: it lacks the carefree, airy sweetness of the EDT, but it gains in depth and longevity.

  • A curious take on Scandal, deeper and rounder while keeping the same DNA. Sweet and caramelised, yet more energetic, woody and spiced, bright with fresh touches, and more potent. Note: it lacks the carefree, airy sweetness of the EDT, but it wins on depth and longevity.

  • Horrible, the worst of the entire collection. The most disruptive one, the one that deviates most from the previous scents. The problem is that on my skin, it smells like an old lady’s perfume. It changes significantly on blotter paper and is pleasant, but since I wear it on skin rather than paper, my vote is negative. Puig disappointing once again.

  • Terrible, the worst of the entire saga. The most disruptive and the one that strays furthest from the previous ones. The problem is that, on MY SKIN, it smells like an older lady’s perfume. It changes significantly on blotter and is even pleasant there, but since I wear it on skin and not on paper, my vote is negative. Puig disappointing once again.

I tried a decant sent by JPG. I’ve read many comments claiming it’s darker than its siblings, but I feel it isn’t at all. The opening feels like a cologne with a very marked floral note. The scent is quite linear, ending in that floral cologne blended with woods that dampen the sparkling nature of the opening, making it more subdued. In my mind, this fragrance transports me to a spring weekend, walking through the countryside with flowers, where one stands out above the rest on a sunny, happy day. I see it as versatile but ideal for spring. To me, it seems more feminine than masculine. The scent might remind one of the Scandal EDT due to that sparkling aspect, but there’s nothing else in common. This Intense is floral by design. It’s the first Scandal I don’t like. Not because it smells bad, which it doesn’t, but because it’s not for me. My current ranking of the Scandal line based on my tastes is: 1. Scandal EDT: bright and caramelised. 2. Scandal Le Parfum: sweet, party-ready, powerful and rounded. 3. Scandal Absolu: dark, chocolatey and slightly more mature. 4. Scandal Intense: floral.

It has the same intoxicating pupurri scent that hits your nose and head when you enter the cleaning products section of those pharmacies that sell everything from cosmetics to mops and tampons. Terrible. It smells like floor cleaner with air freshener.

  • Alan Parfum

I still don’t understand why so many people need to create a flanker that smells exactly like its predecessor and everything else already on the market.

The initial herbal/floral opening didn’t suit me at all. After an hour and a half, it drifts slightly away from the classic DNA of the line, but very softly. It’s the first in the range I don’t like, even though Scandal EDT is one of my favourite perfumes.

  • I tried a decant sent by JPG on my skin. I’ve read many comments saying it’s darker than its siblings, but I feel it isn’t at all. The opening feels like a cologne with a very marked floral note. The scent is quite linear, settling into that floral cologne mixed with woods that tame the sparkling opening, making it more subdued. In my opinion, it’s more feminine than masculine. It might recall Scandal EDT with that sparkling aspect, but nothing else. This ‘Intense’ is floral to the core. It’s the first Scandal I don’t like. Not because the scent smells good, but because it’s not for me. My current ranking of the line is: 1. Scandal EDT: bright and caramelised. 2. Scandal Le Parfum: sweet, party-ready, powerful and rounded. 3. Scandal Absolu: dark, chocolatey and slightly more mature. 4. Scandal Intense: floral.

I tried it yesterday. I thought it would be sweet or leather-leaning, but it isn’t. It’s a ‘blue’ scent with subtle leather notes. Super pleasant and versatile. I recommend giving it a go; it smells delicious, with a lovely opening. It’s a fragrance for everyone. I’d bet my money that it’s very similar in style to Hugo Boss Beyond…

  • Scandal Pour Homme Intense is fruity, sweet, and woody. The opening smells of sweet bubblegum, despite no fruity notes being declared. As minutes pass, something herbal and earthy emerges amidst the sweetness, which I attribute to vetiver; there may also be tonka bean and sage, but the declared leather is not prominent or noticeable, at least not on my skin or on blotter. Like most of the Scandal Pour Homme line, it is better suited to fresh climates such as autumn and winter, or the first month of spring; wearing it on hot days would be a bad idea. It suits a taste from youthful to mature and is almost unisex. Longevity has been good, over 9 hours, with a noticeable trail. It smells good and is pleasant, but it does not bring a substantial change compared to the rest of the line. It is subjective, so I invite you to try it and form your own opinion.

  • It reminded me of Polo Live by L’Bel with that suede-like leather, yet with the full Scandal DNA, the green note makes it very versatile.

  • Gonzaparfums

I bought this blindly straight after its launch. It’s a sweet perfume maintaining the original DNA but removing the caramel note and adding a suede-like quality (not leather). For me, it’s the best in the line regarding scent. That said, while its longevity is good, its projection is poor for a Scandal; it’s only a moderate projection, meaning you need to apply a lot to stand out. In short, a great fragrance for evening wear or formal events, but not a beast mode.

  • Gonzaparfums

I bought this fragrance blind upon its release. It is sweet, keeping the original DNA but removing the caramel while adding a suede touch (not leather). To me, it is the best scent in the line. Longevity is good, but for a Scandal, its projection is weak; you need to apply a lot to make an impact. In short, a great fragrance for evenings or formal events, but not a beast mode.

  • Instant love at first sniff. I was in a store testing perfumes when I decided to try it on blotter and skin; not only did it smell exquisite, staying true to the other Scandal notes, but it lasted for hours on both my skin and the paper, so I added it to my collection. I recommend it to everyone to try and not be swayed by biased opinions: projection, scent, and longevity are all a 10/10.

  • The most distinguished member of the Scandal line to date (having yet to try the new cherry variant), even surpassing the Absolu. The leather notes strip away the youthful, party-ready vibe of the family. It lacks the longevity of its siblings (and certainly not those cheap clones), but it works brilliantly for date nights. A blind buy, but given the price, it’s better to test the flankers first to decide which you prefer.
