Shaghaf Vanilla Toffee by Swiss Arabian

I gifted this to my girlfriend, and it has become her absolute favourite. It smells incredible, with a thick, realistic texture reminiscent of Werther’s toffee and coffee. I love the scent on her so much that I’d even buy one for my own winter evenings at home with a hot drink, although it shines ten times brighter on women. I see it as moderately unisex, but only for very specific situations like the one I just described.

There are perfumes that bring back memories, and this one took me straight back to my childhood. If anyone remembers the sweets our grandmothers gave us, whether Werther’s or Solano, they know exactly what it is: a toffee caramel with vanilla, slightly soaked in coffee and coated in brown sugar pearls. I felt like Ego in Ratatouille. It’s not best mode, but it is thoroughly enjoyable. 8/10.

I don’t know how some people didn’t like it. For me, it’s a bomb of sweetness, and the curious thing is that I’m not usually into unisex fragrances, yet this has a touch that leans more towards masculine. It’s super heavy, best mode on me, and there’s no need to describe anything because it smells exactly like what its name says. It was quite an experience and a compliment machine. 10/10.

After wearing it for a few days, I’ve concluded it’s not for everyone. As the name suggests, toffee and coffee dominate at first. Half an hour in, vanilla and milky notes emerge, always accompanied by caramel and coffee, which prevail throughout the fragrance’s life. In short, it smells of caramel, coffee, vanilla, and upon drying, hints of wood and spice. It’s a gourmand scent, extremely sweet and cloying, reminding me strongly of Mancera Amore Café. Though not identical, it clearly draws inspiration from it. I don’t detect any synthetic notes; the ingredients feel high quality. Despite its sweetness, it’s pleasant. Projection is good for 2–3 hours; it can be overpowering in enclosed spaces, but it doesn’t flood a room like Tobacco Mancera or Kenzo. It’s strong enough to be suffocating, yet it doesn’t leave a trail beyond two metres. Longevity is 8–10 hours, with a couple of extra hours lingering on clothes. In conclusion, it smells wonderful, but you must enjoy gourmand and intensely sweet fragrances. It’s not for everyone, not for everyday wear—only for special occasions, collectors, or when you want to turn heads. Ideal for night outs, special events, and cold autumn or winter. Unisex.
