Descripción
The Essence by Porsche Design is a men's fragrance from the olfactive family. Launched in 2008, this composition was created by Bruno Jovanovic and Anne Flipo. The top notes reveal juniper and blueberries; the heart unfolds pine, pepper, and coriander; while the base notes settle on incense and patchouli.

Exquisite, what more can be said? It has a note of honey that isn’t declared, or is the result of mixing some notes. I truly wish I had it; it’s atypical in my collection and exquisite. It has no age, suits from 15 to 95 years old. I tested it with lots of heat, but still recommend it for fresh weather. It’s extremely versatile and I recommend it widely.
I didn’t realise that between the first and second review I hadn’t mentioned that I had bought it. It was my last purchase before falling into bankruptcy, hahaha.
Today I used it again under extreme conditions: strong sun, closed up, and over 30 degrees. I bathed afterwards and yet I still have that sweet and light aroma of blue flowers and spices…
I liked it a lot, although it didn’t excite me as much as my previous one, Shiseido Tactics. I understand it’s a different and atypical scent, nothing unpleasant. Definitely those blueberries have a captivating and strange aroma that gives me relaxation, perhaps due to the incense. It lasts about 6 hours, which is perfect. The price-quality ratio is very good, it doesn’t pass $45. Recommendation: use it for everyday wear, in the mornings, or to go to work. Ideal for perfume lovers looking for something different.
I really liked it, though it didn’t thrill me quite as much as my previous Shiseido Tactics. I understand it’s a different scent, quite atypical for the brand, but nothing unpleasant. Those blueberries have a captivating, unusual touch; they make me feel relaxed, perhaps due to the incense. It lasts about six hours, which is just right for me, and the price-to-quality ratio is top-notch, costing no more than $45. Ideal for everyday wear, in the mornings or for heading to work. If you like having something different in your collection, this is for you.
It reminded me a lot of Azzaro Chrome. It’s the same style but much lighter and without so much weight. You mainly notice the pepper and coriander. It’s fresh for spring and summer, though in mild climates it can last longer. I see it mainly for the day, and that’s where the Azzaro one has more cachet and presence.
It reminded me very much of Azzaro Chrome. It’s of the same style but much lighter, with less weight. The pepper and coriander really come through. It’s fresh for spring and summer, though depending on the weather it can last longer. I see it mainly for daywear, and that’s where the Azzaro one has more presence and caché.
The Essence is my most recent purchase; I got it on offer at a ridiculous price, around $14 for 80ml, whereas in Mexico they ask for $125, which is madness. After checking forums, I conclude its round design is unique. The relationship between what you see and what you smell is perfect. Porsche Design refers to the design studio, not the cars. At first, it smells of parsley and icy mint, a bit saturated and confusing, so apply more (I use 10 sprays). After 20 minutes, the magic happens: a dark, sweet fruit appears, as if a photo is developing. In the end, it’s a bitter, cold, and sweet mint with a Nordic soul. It’s excellent, with good performance, still in production but hard to find. It suits ages 20 to 50, preferably during the day. Some say it’s generic, but to me it reminds me of Hugo Boss and Crome, though less floral. It also has something of Jazz Live, but with parsley instead of rhubarb, making this more balanced. It’s very tonic, masculine, and a bit sexy. If you collect perfumes, the bottle is beautiful and it’s a great workhorse for the heat. Recommended if you can grab it for under $30.
AROMA: EXCELLENT. PROJECTILE: GOOD. LONGEVITY: GOOD. QUALITY: EXCELLENT. BLIND BUY: YESSSS 9/10. UFFF, what a delight, very fresh and mysterious at the same time. Suitable for day or night. Apply it generously so it lasts longer and generates a thousand compliments.

I didn’t like it at all. The futuristic and cold design of the bottle doesn’t match the scent. It reminds me of an old herbal cologne, like the ones my grandfather used in big buttons. I don’t get that fresh opening or the blueberries they claim it has.
I didn’t like it. For me, the bottle design (futuristic, minimalist, metallic, cold) doesn’t match the perfume at all. It seems like a very vintage herbal cologne. It reminds me of strong old-man colognes in large bottles. I don’t notice that fresh opening or the blueberry notes it claims to have at any point.
I bought this for my husband after reading every review possible and picking the best one. I was afraid it might disappoint me like other times, but I got it right first time. The bottle is super modern, looking like a box or a lighter, ideal for guys. The fragrance is a total hit; he absolutely loves it. It’s elegant, discreet, and not overpowering. It feels timeless and suits any age. Smells very masculine.
I bought it for my husband. I looked for the best reviews for men and decided on this one, a little worried it might disappoint me like other times. But I was 100% right. The bottle is modern, looking like a box or a lighter, designed for young men. The scent is excellent, elegant and discreet, nothing intrusive. It feels timeless and suits any age. It smells super masculine.
