Astre's Vanilla Ataraxia Finds Calm in Vanilla

From Astre, Vanilla Ataraxia is an Oriental Vanilla fragrance for women and men, introduced in 2026. The nose behind it is Julie Pluchet.

True to its title, it seeks stillness: a mellow vanilla tempered by orris, lit by spice and citrus, and settled on balsams and woods.

At the top are Ceylon cinnamon, bergamot, pink pepper and rum. The citrus lends clarity, the pink pepper a gentle sparkle, the rum a mellow warmth that binds the spices.

The middle places vanilla alongside Madagascar vanilla, with orris root, dark chocolate and Peru balsam. The orris lends a powder-soft, almost cottony veil that keeps the gourmand side in check.

The foundation repeats vanilla with styrax, Haitian vetiver and Australian sandalwood. Styrax contributes resinous depth, vetiver a restrained earthiness, sandalwood a smooth, creamy woodiness.

The accord profile spans vanilla, powdery, iris, amber, balsamic, woody, earthy and sweet notes. Together they create an even, serene trail rather than a rich, dense one.

As a 2026 unisex oriental, it feels most at home after dark and in cooler air, when chocolate, balsam and sandalwood settle at their own pace. Understated, comforting, and designed for continuity.

It should please those who prefer their vanilla soft, powdery and balsamic rather than overtly gourmand. Well suited to lovers of orris, dark chocolate, amber and creamy sandalwood, for both feminine and masculine wear.

Vanilla Ataraxia honours its promise of ataraxia: a poised vanilla framed by orris, styrax and sandalwood. A thoughtful, well-balanced offering from Astre and Julie Pluchet.
