I’m surprised by the good performance given the low cost. The opening is a slightly acidic sweet orange with the sweetness of almond; I barely detect the pink pepper. In the heart phase, the almond and jasmine are still noticeable; the rose is very light, almost imperceptible. Then comes the warm amber with jasmine and a hint of orange. The sweetness remains without being cloying. I consider it a somewhat elegant perfume, perfect for cool and cold climates. Better for autumn and winter.
I haven’t used it yet, but it’s on my perfume shopping list; it has an exquisite fragrance. My husband uses the Ulric de Varens line and, to be honest, it suits him very well.
I swear I thought it had myrrh or incense when I first smelled it; it must be a good perfume because it truly smelled very strong. And yes, as its name suggests, the scent is perfect for wearing at night, perhaps I will buy it… The brand Ulric de Varens never disappoints in sillage, longevity, or quality, and this is an affordable gem.
Finally, after several attempts, I managed to get this fragrance. I was surprised by how long it lasts on the body and on clothes. Especially recommended for those who love sweet scents. I prefer it for night on special occasions because wearing it all day felt too overwhelming. The price is super accessible. Ulric de Varens never disappoints.
I can’t, it’s too much, it’s a scent masterpiece. I bought it on the last day of the year and it blended with incense, giving it a nocturnal and mysterious touch, but it has changed with the season. Previously it was sweeter, but now it has gained weight. Amethyste is a night fragrance; although the bottle seems innocent, it has none of that, it brings a potency that doesn’t suit everyone. It follows a scent similar to Poison. The small green bottle sprays adorably sweet with milk and caramel, but as it dries down a tremendous darkness and strength emerge, saying ‘don’t come near me’. Something you couldn’t expect from a low-cost brand, but it has it. On my skin it becomes sweeter and lacks that magic, but on clothes it is extremely attractive and sexy. It carries a certain myrrh or incense aroma that makes it nocturnal; this doesn’t appear here but it does elsewhere. In terms of similarity, it’s almost like Amor Amor Forbidden Kiss but much softer and tenderer, and similar to Glowing Black Opium in the dry-down and base notes which also feature incense. Between the two, Amethyste wins. It carries a certain memory of a Lolita Lempicka fragrance, probably due to the star anise. If you see it, don’t hesitate to buy it; if you want something dark and powerful similar to Poison, this is a good option. I adore it.
I had great anticipation; I ordered it, but before it arrived I tested it in a shopping centre and didn’t like it. However, when it arrived and I used it, it matched my skin perfectly. The sweet almond notes are very prominent, with hints of butter and caramel. I recommend it highly—it’s seductive yet soft, sweet but with the perfect balance, not cloying. It lasts over eight hours; the sillage is good for the first hour then fades. I loved it; it’s for women who mix sexy with tender. I recommend it wholeheartedly.
What a pleasant surprise! It’s an excellent perfume at a low cost. The opening smells of orange, and as it dries down it becomes a wonderful sweet, vanilla-infused almond scent. It’s similar to Hypnotic Poison but like a cousin: it has an air of resemblance but isn’t identical. It’s super feminine and embracing. For me, who prefers sweet fragrances, it hooked me instantly and seems wearable for work. It lasts about eight hours; the sillage is moderate to heavy (very noticeable, but not overwhelming like others).
I loved it: excellent development of the notes, perfectly blended for an appealing fragrance. Definitely gourmand, with a precise sweetness that makes it irresistible without being off-putting. Excellent value for what it offers.
I loved this fragrance; the development of the notes is perfect and they blend beautifully for an appealing aroma. Definitely gourmand, its sweetness is just right to be irresistible without being annoying. Excellent value for what it offers.
A delightful surprise, a wonderful scent that starts acidic with blackberries before turning sweet and creamy like almond milk. It lasts forever, it’s delicious—sweet but not overpowering or intrusive. A blind buy that left me pleasantly surprised.
For daytime, it overwhelms me and makes me feel sick; it’s better suited for evening or cold weather. I detect spicy and very sweet notes, with about 8 to 9 hours of projection. Two sprays are enough.
I wore it during the day and couldn’t stand it; it overwhelmed and made me feel quite dizzy. It’s recommended for night and very cold climates; with this fragrance, the compliments never stopped. I detect it as spicy and very sweet, lasting 8 or 9 hours projecting all the time. Two sprays are sufficient.
It’s a scent bomb: strong but rich, even giving a high-end impression. Sometimes it smells youthful and sweet, other times mature. It lasts a long time and has a lovely trail. I’d recommend it for the evening as it can be overpowering.
This perfume is a scent bomb. It smells strong but rich, even seeming more expensive. Sometimes it smells youthful and sweet, other times a bit mature. It lasts a long time on the skin and has good projection. I highly recommend it for the evening as it can be overpowering.
It’s a vanilla perfume with touches of pink pepper and almond, sweet but not cloying, ideal for autumn and winter. It’s not for daily wear because the pink pepper makes it spicy. It reminds me of L’Bel’s Satin Rouge or Dior’s Poison Girl. It’s an excellent purchase, very economical, and lasts between 5 and 6 hours.
I had high expectations due to the good reviews. The first time, after twenty minutes I couldn’t stand it; my boyfriend said it made him feel sick. It is too overwhelming and invasive, and despite washing or covering it with other perfumes, the scent won’t go away. I gave it chances and only came to hate it more; I didn’t even give it to my mother or sister as they couldn’t stand it either. The good thing? It’s cheap.
I entered with high expectations due to the good reviews, but the first time I tried it, after 20 minutes I couldn’t stand it, just like my boyfriend who said it made him dizzy. It’s too overwhelming and invasive; no matter how much you wash it or cover it with other perfumes, the scent lingers. I gave it multiple chances and only ended up hating it more; I didn’t even give it to my mother or sister as they couldn’t take it either. The only good thing is that it’s cheap.
I still don’t know what to think of this Amethyst; I bought it as a dupe for Poison Girl because the original didn’t convince me regarding price and performance. This, which costs a fraction, seemed like a better option at first with that potent caramelised orange. It has immense strength, notes of sweet almond and candy vanilla, even smelling of caramelised apple. It’s an intense sweetness that fills your face and hands, but it feels very synthetic. On my skin, the opening is good, but as it dries down it becomes strange: watery sandalwood and a musk that smells like saliva or sweat. I can’t stand it. The longevity is a beast, 10 hours with huge projection. The bottle is lovely, very Sailor Moon. If you like Poison, it’s a good dupe, just test it before buying.
It’s one of my favourites and I’ve already ordered a refill; I don’t want to run out. I found it on offer here for around $12. My pH is a disaster, but I still detect it for a few hours close to the skin, vanilla-scented and very rich.
What’s the closest to Poison Girl? Amethyst! I own both and they’re 90% identical. I read it was potent with a strong sillage, but for me, it’s the opposite: with five sprays, it smells normal at first and then fades almost imperceptibly. Did they sell me a clone? I don’t think so given the price. If you like Poison and want something more affordable, it’s worth it for the almond and orange opening, although it is a good perfume.
What’s the closest to Poison Girl? Amethyst! I own both and they’re about 90% identical. I read it was potent with a strong trail, but to me, it starts normal with five sprays and then fades to almost imperceptible. Would they sell me a clone? I doubt it given the price. Perhaps my nose just prefers strong scents. Since I adore Poison and it’s too expensive for daily wear, if it smells the same with that almond and orange touch, it’s worth it.
I find it very sweet and heavy for the nose, super feminine. At first, it didn’t appeal to me, but over time you get used to it and it smells refined. I use it for special occasions or at night when I want to turn heads; it’s not for everyday wear. It lasts quite well for its price, what a pity it’s already discontinued; I practically bought the last bottle available in my country.
It’s a potent perfume that can be detected from miles away, perfect for winter but terrible for the heat as it will bore you. It’s dense, sweet, and addictive; with three sprays, it lasts about 10 hours on clothes until you wash them. I love it for the evening, although I’ve read it’s discontinued, so I’ll treasure my little bottle with care ❤️.
I absolutely loved the opening of Varens d’Orient Amethyst; it smells almost identical to my Dior Poison Girl, that sweet and seductive blend I adore. However, the evolution isn’t the same; while the Dior takes me on an olfactory journey, this one feels a bit flat and lacks nuance. Furthermore, the longevity on my skin is disappointing, vanishing in just a couple of hours leaving barely a trace, something that doesn’t happen with my Dior. It’s a cheap option if you’re after the initial scent, but it lacks that ‘something’ that makes great perfumes unforgettable.
