Galbanum has become one of my favourite notes thanks to VdF and Synthetic Jungle. The opening is a green explosion of wet vegetation, very similar to SJ but not quite as sharp; here the green is kinder and creamier. If SJ is an open field, VdF is more like a freshly watered greenhouse. As for comparisons, SJ resembles Chanel 19 EdT, while VdF is akin to 19 Poudré. In my view, it is one of the best and most overlooked Tom Ford fragrances to revive the green genre against the dominance of oud, gourmands and blues over the last twenty years.
Galbanum has become one of my preferred notes thanks to VdF and Synthetic Jungle. The dry down is a green burst of wet vegetation, very similar to SJ but not quite as sharp; this is a kinder, slightly creamier green, and if SJ is an open field, VdF would be more like a freshly watered greenhouse. As for comparisons, SJ equals Chanel 19 EdT and VdF equals 19 Poudré. In my opinion, it is one of the best and most overlooked Tom Ford fragrances to capture the current audience with the green genre, which has been so overshadowed by oud, gourmands and blues in the last two decades.
The scent reminds me of tree branches broken by rain, soaked in dry earth, while one rests on a bed of jasmine and hyacinth. There is a certain similarity between the now discontinued Ombre de Hyacinth and Vert de Fleur, though the latter is more complex, glamorous and refined by the perfumer than the former. Furthermore, Ombre de Hyacinth improves upon the green version of Jasmin Angélique from Atelier Cologne, which comes across as quite smoky.
