Montblanc Vetiver Glacier is earthy, woody, and aromatic. From the start comes the vetiver: realistic, herbal, and dry, without the citrus usually found in traditional versions. Minutes later, the sandalwood enriches it, giving a sensual, almost edible sensation, with no further changes. It’s elegant, more for day than night, suitable for any season, and good for the office. Longevity was disappointing: it lasted a maximum of five or six hours, which is a pity because I liked the scent so much. The trail also stayed very close to the skin. I will try it again; while I smelled it, I wanted to buy it, but if the performance remains the same, I will discard it.
I was gifted a vial and it’s a well-crafted vetiver, though I detect a creamy, slightly sweet note, perhaps from the sandalwood which gives it a honeyed touch. It smells fantastic for the office or mild days, but the longevity is disappointing; after 45 minutes it’s already very faint on skin and clothes. It reminds me of Sycomore, but this one is a bit sweeter.
What a shame that this great composition doesn’t maintain its opening: effusive, vigorous, and very cool. The name ‘Vetiver Glacier’ is well-chosen; Nathalie Lorson did a good job, although, like all perfumers, she repeats common chords. After that opening with juniper, fresh vetiver, and a touch of ginger, it changes radically to a earthy vetiver type ‘Encre Noire’, less dark, green but not like Guerlain’s. The sweet and creamy sandalwood base defines the fragrance. If it lasted better, it would be incredible, but it’s okay with a poor longevity for its price. The bottles also seem to lack something to be high-end, although the glass is heavy. Montblanc always owes us, although some smell good. Edit: the longevity on skin isn’t as bad as the projection; I’ll soon review Extreme Leather and Black Meisterstück.
I’m sharing the gifted vial and it’s a very well-crafted vetiver, but I notice a certain creamy and sweet point, perhaps due to the sandalwood, a slight honeyed touch. It’s very good, ideal for the office and mild or fresh days. Performance is what fails: after forty-five minutes, on skin and clothes, it becomes very faint, which is disappointing because the fragrance is good. It reminds me of Sycomore, although this one seems slightly sweet to me.
I really liked the fragrance, but it’s very timid. It stands out for nothing; it’s ethereal. You barely perceive the vetiver that is so often mentioned, and it doesn’t stay on the skin. What a pity, because it had the potential to be a masterpiece.
Perfect for autumn and winter. The vetiver is excellently crafted and the juniper combined with the sandalwood gives it a creamy note ideal for the cold. Contrary to what others say, it has lasted wonderfully for me: around four hours on skin and up to seven on clothes.
Ideal for autumn and winter; the vetiver is well-crafted and enhanced by the juniper and sandalwood. I agree it’s creamy, which makes it perfect for the cold. Unlike others that claim it doesn’t last, it has worked brilliantly for me: about four hours on skin and up to seven on clothes.
A simple and very pleasant vetiver to wear.
Not for everyone; you need to enjoy the blend of sandalwood and vetiver. I expected more; it’s not unpleasant, but I think the sandalwood could be omitted in favour of another wood. The opening is citrusy and sharp with vetiver upfront; I can’t identify the juniper, but I do recognise the sandalwood at the base. It’s elegant and suitable for formal wear. Although it didn’t disappoint me entirely, it’s not my favourite. Worth trying as it’s versatile, but something about it just doesn’t fully convince me.
Not for everyone; you have to like the blend of sandalwood and vetiver. I expected more; it’s not unpleasant, but I think the sandalwood was unnecessary and would have worked better with another wood. Opens citrusy and sharp with vetiver in the foreground. My inexperienced nose didn’t detect the juniper, but I did smell the underlying sandalwood. It’s elegant and requires formal wear. It didn’t disappoint me entirely, but it’s not my favourite. It deserves a try; it’s versatile, though something doesn’t quite convince me.
It dries down quickly, but within minutes becomes creamy thanks to the sandalwood; I couldn’t detect the juniper. It’s a formal, mature fragrance, and given my age, I don’t see myself wearing it. The truth is, after five hours on skin, I couldn’t smell it anymore.
dries down to dry vetiver, then the sandalwood makes it creamy; I didn’t notice the juniper. Smells formal and mature, something that won’t suit me at my age yet. After five hours on skin, I could no longer smell it.
