This fragrance is a chameleon: the nuances come and go. Watan de Anfas opens with smoky, dry Laotian oud with an animalic touch, but the blend goes further. It begins with that animalic oud without being overpowering; it’s enjoyable and peaceful, with an earthy base. The star player is caramel, which makes the trail smoky and sweet, yet on skin it becomes earthy, woody, dry, and slightly animalic. The flowers add creaminess and a white note to the sweetness, while the musk softens the mix until it’s velvety and wearable. I’m not usually a fan of very sweet scents, but here the oud contrasts beautifully with the caramel, and the ingredient quality is high. It’s a bold, delightful perfume that I absolutely loved; I didn’t expect it to be so charming. The presentation is elegant, with a gorgeous, artisanal bottle. Its potency and projection are strong, so I recommend a few sprays only, as it projects heavily. The scent is a 10.
