I don’t see myself as a beginner; I understand many aromas, even the most complex ones, but this smells like styrene, truly.
I still hadn’t recovered from my experience with a Kemi fragrance when a sample of Shaghaf (by Anfas) casually landed in my hands. The opening seemed so similar to Kemi, though with less potency, that I almost threw it away. But I persisted in testing it for several days, and the result is that it has stolen my heart. It starts powerful and animalic; just as it seems to go too far, it moderates and smells gloriously divine; there is no civet, no castoreum, no glands; it is first-rate oud as the protagonist, with the rest a band that makes it authentically delicious, deep, and almost mystical. It plays with you as if it were a baby playing peek-a-boo: it lasts a treat, projects before hiding, and when least expected, it reappears and pulls a smile of enjoyment from you. It sticks infinitely on the skin, withstands motorcycle rides, various heats, and even a shower without flinching; on clothes, it leaves an exquisitely unforgettable memory. If you are advancing in the oud note and want potency but wish to enjoy it from start to finish, do not hesitate to grab a sample and then forget any other option and prepare your wallet; you won’t stop until you own it.
I hadn’t yet recovered from a Kemi fragrance when a sample of Shaghaf (by Anfas) casually landed in my hands. Its opening was so similar to Kemi, albeit with less potency, that I almost threw it away. Fortunately, I tested it over several days, and the result is that it has stolen my heart. It begins powerfully and animalically; just as it seems to cross the line of tolerance, it moderates and smells gloriously divine… there is no civet, no castoreum, no glands that resemble it; this is first-rate oud as the protagonist, with the rest a cohort that makes it an authentic, profound, almost mystical experience. It plays with you like a baby playing peek-a-boo: it lasts an eternity, projects before hiding, and when least expected, it reappears and pulls a smile from you. It lasts infinitely on the skin, withstands motorcycle rides, heat, and even a shower without flinching; on clothes, it leaves an exquisitely memorable trace. If you are advancing in the world of oud and want potency but wish to enjoy it from start to finish, do not hesitate to grab a sample and then forget any other option; prepare your wallet, you won’t rest until you own it.
