White Musk by Jovan

Last year I was gifted White Musk for Men from Body Shop… And I loved the scent, although it didn’t last at all or project, I finished it and wanted to smell it again, here in Chile it’s not available, and searching I found Jovan White Musk… I looked into it and learnt that the main ingredient in both is white musk as a base, so I bought this cologne that was very cheap and when it arrived I sprayed it and it indeed totally reminded me of the Body Shop one, not because they’re identical… But because of the magnificent white musk! Which is undoubtedly my favourite note so far, I still have a lot to explore… The Body Shop one is more sensual, night-time, sexual, Jovan White Musk is sensual but cheerful for the day and sensual enough for the night (as I wear them as an adult)… But obviously both are also crowd-pleasers, a delicious unisex scent, even the Body Shop one, and I have my 5-year-old son wear this White Musk when he goes out with his mum or his grandma because I know they’re going places where people will greet my son and believe me that delicious white musk smell won’t be forgotten by the people who greet my son and if they smell again a perfume on someone where white musk predominates… They’ll remember him hahaha

I had owned it years ago but it’s very difficult to find these days, however by chance I bought it again so I’m going to give my impression: Clearly there is an intention to show a kind and acceptable option for those who somehow can’t stand or despise Jovan Musk as it’s known, a unique cologne with no offshoots that recalls scents of past glories from the late 70s and early 80s… I remember in mid-1989 I saw a commercial that was only shown at night where you could see bare torsos and apparently couples with some degree of intimacy, after using this lotion women would be subjected to a trance of irresistible passion. On the other hand White Musk to my taste represents the unique moment of rejoicing and cleanliness that it gives you after doing everything to dedicate yourself to enjoying your time at home or going out for a drive listening in the car at full volume to “glittering prize” by Simple Minds…

A clean, faint white musk odour, very nice, honest and at a laughable price, 6 eur!! I give it a 10.

I just tested it and bought it… if I had to describe this fragrance in one word I would say it is a “nourishing perfume”… it fully fulfils what it aims to be, a balanced white musk that lets you move through different moments of the day without being out of place thanks to its notes. I agree with Mr bofifa on many points. It’s not a bold perfume nor with an articulated backbone of aromas but it has everything I need to use it on my days off, I recommend it.

I did some research and found out the base is the same white musk, so I bought it because it was cheap. Upon spraying it, it did remind me of the Body Shop version, not because they are identical, but because of that magnificent white musk which is my favourite note to date. The Body Shop scent is more sensual and nocturnal; Jovan is sensual but cheerful for the day and sufficient for the night. Both are delicious and unisex. In fact, my five-year-old son uses it when he goes out with his mum or grandma. I know that when people greet my son, that white musk scent gets stamped on their memory. If they smell a perfume with that base again, they’ll remember him, haha.

Summary: fresh, clean, pleasant and unisex. It lasts well on clothes but leaves a soft trail on the skin and smells lovely. For the price, it’s excellent value. That said, it has nothing to do with the sweet aromas currently in fashion; this fragrance is musk, eighties and nineties, but by no means outdated. You’ll smell different.

A very clean musk, absolutely white, smelling of freshly washed clothes. It’s the central component of this fragrance that evokes sunny days and blue skies. The opening is slightly fruity, with a certain sweet touch but not invasive, which reminded me a lot of the aura of Jean Paul Gaultier’s Le Male. Apart from this sweet tone, White Musk recreates a crisp and carefree scent, almost crystalline. It’s ideal for summer days and heat, straight out of the shower, but I see it could also fit in cooler temperatures. I’m sure we’ll leave others wondering what fragrance makes us smell so good. The projection and strength, not being monstrous, are good for what it is. On the other hand, the price is a bargain. I see no reason not to try it for anyone who likes this type of cologne. Note: 8.5/10.
