I heard the original Woodissime was a challenge, but this sample is very ‘nice’ in large doses. The packaging is good and it smells of sweet fruit, slightly chocolatey with a sweet oud base, with no real challenge. It seems the reformulation took all the drama away. If you view it as ‘extremely woody’, it has nothing to offer. Performance is good; I’d say it’s more for ladies, though it suits a chap well too. 5/10, I wouldn’t buy it.

Although the range is unisex, this fragrance leans more feminine and targets a mature woman, with sandalwood and fruity accords predominating. It’s an old-school classic that, despite its quality and price, offers nothing relevant and feels a bit heavy to me. If you’re a man looking for something woody, look elsewhere, as there are better options on the market.

Although the range is unisex, this smells more like an older woman, with sandalwood and fruity notes. It’s an old-school classic of good quality and price, but it lacks spark and becomes heavy. If you’re a man looking for something woody, look elsewhere, as there are better options.

  • I don’t align with the comments here, but for me it’s a delight: a fruit cocktail over a sweet oud base with sandalwood and patchouli giving it a chocolatey touch. The longevity, sillage, and projection are notable; although sweet, it stays far removed from current trends and isn’t cloying. The one I have is from 2017, so I don’t know when the reformulation mentioned occurred. The ingredients denote quality and that improves the performance. Ideal for cold or mild days and, in my opinion, totally unisex. This Les Exceptions collection has been a genuine discovery; being Mugler’s ‘private’ line, it outshines the hyped ones like A*Men Kryptomint, Pure Wood, Ultrazest, or Pure Malt, perhaps because it’s almost unknown here in the UK. The bottles are thick, heavy glass with metal plates that make them quite substantial and very pretty.

The longevity, sillage, and projection are notable; although sweet, it stays far removed from current trends without being cloying. I have the 2017 version and can’t pinpoint when it was reformulated, but the ingredients denote quality and performance. Ideal for cold or mild days and totally unisex.
