Jorge Lee
Jorge Lee is a senior perfumer who has made a name for himself in the fragrance industry through his work with some of the world’s best-known brands. Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, Lee developed an appreciation for cooking and the use of spices and herbs from a young age. He also had a keen sense of smell and associated different fragrances with the people who wore them.
After studying economics at university and starting a job at a Dutch bank, Lee was contacted by a recruiter who was hiring for the new Unilever office in Bogotá. The company was looking for someone to take a marketing role at Quest International, a fragrance company. Lee immediately knew this was the job for him and took the opportunity.
Once at Quest International, Lee was offered the chance to train as an evaluator, and quickly demonstrated talent for perfumery. Eventually he became a senior perfumer and since then has worked with several well-known fragrance companies, including Givaudan and MG International Fragrance Company. He has also worked with several niche brands, including Alghabra Parfums, Calaj, Nishane and Unique'e Luxury.
Lee feels particularly inspired by local ingredients, including the rose of Isparta and mastix, a resin used in desserts and chewing gum. He also loves working with woody aromas, but has learned that they must be used carefully to avoid overpowering a fragrance.
Lee describes himself as mystical, elegant and versatile, and is known for his ability to create fragrances that are both innovative and timeless. With his keen sense of smell and his love of the art of perfumery, Jorge Lee is a perfumer who continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in the world of fragrances.
