The fragrance smells nice and lasts a long time, but it doesn’t quite convince me as it’s just another oud among the hundreds that have flooded the market since the trend took off. If you’re looking for an oud, it’s a great option, but for me, it feels repetitive. It reminds me a lot of Francis Kurkdjian’s Oudtouch, with that potent, medicinal opening. It’s of superior quality and has a more natural scent, yet it follows that long-lasting line which can get tiring depending on the occasion. At first, it smells of chocolate, but as it dries down, it leans towards those typical rose-oud combos, even though they claim there’s no rose. Like all ouds, it’s not easy to wear or very versatile, but I think it’s totally unisex and suitable for any moment, except sports or very formal events. Musiqa Oud is a bold, dirty, and potent fragrance that opens with a hit of raw, natural oud. Then the saffron adds a mineral, dusty touch, creating a sensation of sour, smoky wood that is quite disorienting. After an hour on the skin, the sandalwood reveals itself as milky and creamy, doing justice to its exceptional complexity. It has no real comparison with other ouds, making it ideal for the indie niche. Despite its difficulty and lack of versatility, it’s a solid 9/10: a tremendous success with beast-mode performance.
