I bought this Christmas set from my local perfumeries. I’ve tried several from this house before, and this is the second tier. At first, Dodo smells like a birdcage or guano—it’s very aggressive. Then it settles into a green, astringent, fruity scent with fern, moss, and lychee. Finally, there’s the most wearable part: very mossy, with an animal touch and geranium, making it a vintage masculine fougère. It projects strongly for the first hour before settling into a moderate sillage. It’s an interesting artistic exercise, but I don’t like wearing it for everyday use. Who wants to smell like bird droppings? If you don’t notice the initial uric acid note, it could suit a serious man in temperate weather, but I can’t see any occasion for it; it’s more for personal enjoyment. Pleasant: 4/10 Interesting: 7/10 Versatile: 3/10 Original: 7/10

It is a fougère where lychee and ambergris dominate, without the animal edge others mention; it smells pleasant and simple, unisex with feminine fruity touches. Yet as a niche fragrance, the quality and originality do not match the price; I’d rather buy three designer scents. It is Zoologist’s most disappointing launch.
