I’m not sure if this is the current or the original JCE version; I believe it’s the first, as the second has a very noticeable oakmoss which I don’t detect here. The opening is superb; I’ve received non-stop compliments from the same person. The green notes of the cassis are evident, alongside a slightly powdery yet very original blackcurrant blossom. The fruitiness can sometimes feel cloying and is quite common, but paired with this floral orange blossom tone, it works brilliantly and brings me great joy. Although it gradually fades, it never fully disappears. The evolution occurs as the cassis green gives way to galbanum, a note that isn’t easy for my generation to appreciate, yet it never becomes too wild or old-fashioned; in fact, I think it’s this note, combined with something else, that reminds me of a relative’s perfume. I must also mention the emergence of red fruits, which add a sweetness that isn’t cloying and blends beautifully. After about three hours, a vetiver became dominant (with intensity already waning); it was a bit disappointing as I thought again of how fleeting Ellena’s scents can be. However, I indulged in that very Spanish tradition of a siesta, and upon waking, it still smelled just as good as before that slightly powdery phase, haha. I’m not sure how to explain it, but I need to try it again. What I can confirm is that although the intensity fades, it lasts around 10 hours or more. I will issue a more definitive opinion later, but for now, it seems like a good perfume and confirms Hermès’ trend of avoiding the fads that 90% of brands fall for. Finally, I should note that it’s similar to Rose Amazone; you can tell the DNA is there.
